  1. a nice come from behind win for the rangers today in game one of a double header against the A's. two wins today would be really nice, especially if the halos lose.
  2. As wrongheaded as that post is, it may just highlight the fundamental difference between our teams, our schools, and our communities. In the GT, we do not believe it is okay to be disrespectful just because you can "back it up." We teach the Teddy Roosevelt mantra: speak softly and carry a big stick. We don't teach our kids swing first, but we teach them to do their damnedest to swing last. Sonnier's performance lastnight exemplified what we teach our kids. When the Friendswood dugout taunted him after he was injured fouling a ball off his shin, he stepped quietly and confidently into the box and smashed the next pitch 374 feet off the rightfield wall to drive in the go-ahead run. You can keep your chest pounders and your kiss blowers. Sonnier is the kind of kid that makes us proud. Friendswood may be happy to raise a bunch of T.O.s, but here in the GT, we are looking to raise a bunch of Tom Bradys. Fitzpatrick may be your hero, but judging by his actions lastnight, he could never be ours. _____________________ By the way poster, what do you really know about Nederland's athletes? You do realize that of Nederland's 9 starters lastnight, 4 were Sophomores and only 2 were Seniors, right? You realize that Bellow, who K'd 13 of your batters, was also the starting quarterback on Nederland's playoff football team, right? And you do realize he is a Junior, right? well done.
  3. far from intimidating, but who knows... is this for sure the guy who the article was about?
  4. that's pretty cool!
  5. the players and fans would instantly be behind them, and there are a lot of players in the league who respect him enough to come play for him. i could definitely see him drawing in some quality free agents. plus, he has to get his start somewhere. with a team that's on a downturn, it's not like he's going to hurt them with his inexperience.
  6. the Cavs aren't dead yet. i don't think it's a stretch at all to say that Bron Bron could will the Cavs to victory in what is now just a two game series.
  7. way to go! put them away tomorrow so that we can give Friendswoodfan something to be bored about!
  8. the number seems low to me. i find it hard to believe that with as many people who stayed, and the destruction that the coast received, that there weren't more victims. but i guess maybe all of the witnesses that "saw" floaters and whatnot were exaggerating, as people often tend to do.
  9. I believe that Kobe is the better player... by a shade. Put Lebron on the Lakers, and Kobe on the Cavs, and i think both teams are in the exact same spot right now. Kobe might be a bit better, but he's got a WHOLE lot better team around him.
  10. It sounds like he very well could win this. at first, i was skeptical about the "memorandum", but apparently UK used the "memorandum" to keep Gillispie from doing some advertisements "based on the wording of the memorandum". Due to this, they won't be able to act like this thing wasn't a real contract.
  11. big game for Jay! the power has been there all year, but if he can get his average up, he's going to be a top outfielder for many years to come.
  12. they're getting pounded again tonight, but that doesn't change the fact that the rangers, after 46 games, have the BEST record in the AL, and the 2nd best record in the majors.
  13. It's shocking to me how long this took.
  14. looks like the lakers are about to get the upper hand in their series unless the seriously implode.
  15. I can't imagine them trading pence. that being said, i'd love to see him as a ranger...
  16. the difference between this team and the teams of the last several years... after getting pounded 11-1 in the series opener against the almighty yanks, the rangers come back with solid starting pitching and a great effort from the bullpen and win game two.
  17. i'll take the lakers in 7 over denver. why? they've played 4 great games, the lakers haven't played one yet, and the series is tied 2-2. i'll take cleveland in 7 over the magic. why? LBJ is too much for Orlando, and there's no way that Rashard Lewis stays as hot as he's been. In the finals, i'll take Kobe over Bron Bron in 6, because the lakers have a better supporting cast.
