  1. cry all you want about cheap shots. you'd know all about them, as you've certainly taken enough at our local programs. comments such as: with three short sentences you managed to insult two high school athletes, as well as every team that those two athletes pitched and won against this year. then, true to form, you come back as Mr. Humility, all praise and compliments for those who's noses you were rubbing in the dirt just a few days before. so, be as upset as you want about my "cheap shot". they'll remain "typical" of me as long as you come on here and spout off at the mouth about how great friendswood is, and how inferior our teams are, especially if they lose to "some GT team" after you do it.
  2. See, just when Blacks and Whites are agreeing and seemingly coming together, we get a southern moderator to imply it's about money and not justice. Back to the battlefield ;D BlUEDOVE3, check your pm.
  3. it's a pretty common pattern for him. arrogance and elitism, and then when friendswood loses, a nice piece of humble pie. i've seen in on about 4 different forums at this point. i'll admit ,though, he sure eats the crow with class. now if only he'd learn to win with it.
  4. why? i like all three players, but love none of them. i put them all in the elite class of players in this league, and i would've reacted similarly to any of them doing this. i think the media would have, too.
  5. to me, trading pence would be a big mistake... he has the ability to be a perennial allstar, and is quickly becoming the NEXT face of the franchise.
  6. Why not Berkman? He's actually older than Carlos Lee, and his numbers are crap this year. His power numbers have been on a steady decline the past two seasons as well. even still, the stros would get an insane amount of talent back for him from a team looking for a big bat before the trade deadline.
  7. valid points there, been. i don't know what they'd get for pudge, as he's pretty much an antique, but something's better than nothing, and i doubt he'll resign next year anyway.
  8. i don't think it's that big of a deal, and i can go either way on this one. yes, it's a touch of poor sportsmanship, but at the same time i DO think to an extent it shows how much he cares about winning. how often do we see the team that just lost giggling and hugging and shaking hands with the team that just beat them, not showing a care in the world about the loss. all that said, i would have preferred to see him shake hands, THEN not speak to the media.
  9. so you're saying concentrating on basketball year round will not help you get a basketball scholarship as much as playing football for half the year will? that doesn't make sense. concentrating on a sport will help them get a scholarship, if they're good enough. granted, your third string point guard isn't going to make it, but to say that concentrating all of your energy into the sport of your choice is going to make you less of a player in that sport is silly. what's detrimental to a team is a universal offseason that caters to only one sport. also, children should be encouraged to play sports that they want to play, rather than forced to play the sports that "dad wants them to". school pride is great, but kids actually enjoying the sports they play is much more important. i played with guys in HS who hated football, and were basically playing because it was what their dad wanted. They were miserable. now that being said, coaches should certainly work around practice and workout schedules to help out athletes who want to play multiple sports.
  10. it's not unheard of to get 4 or 5 prospects for an ace pitcher or big time player. the rangers made a fantastic trade a couple of seasons ago that sent texiera to the braves, and they got 5 prospects. This is what general manager Jon Daniels astutely turned Teixeira into when he traded his soon-to-be-free agent-first baseman to Atlanta on July 31 two years ago: A starting shortstop in Elvis Andrus who is making a magnificent case for himself as the American League Rookie of the Year, and he's only 20 years old. A left-handed starting pitcher in Matt Harrison who, despite Monday’s awful start, won nine games as a rookie a year ago and just four starts ago threw a complete-game shutout against the White Sox. In other words, he’s not nearly as bad as he looked Monday. A young starting catcher in Jarrod Saltalamacchia who has 30-home run potential and is just beginning to blossom at age 24. A flame-throwing right-hander in Frisco named Neftali Feliz, who in late February was ranked 10th on Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects list and regularly tickles 100 mph on the radar gun. Left-handed reliever Beau Jones, also at Frisco, who was a combined 9-1 in three stops in his first year of professional baseball. SO... If the Astros can pull the trigger on a deal like this for Roy O, they'd be crazy not to do it.
  11. holy crap, that was amazing! that goes a long way to showing why i love college sports so much more than the pros
  12. he's still a really solid pitcher, but he hasn't been as good the past couple of seasons. if they can trade him as an "ace", and get really good return for him, they might as well.
  13. rough day for the rangers. they scored two in the 7th and two in the 8th to tie it at 4, but gave up a run in the 9th and lost. to make matters worse, the mariners blew a 6 run lead and lost 9-8 to the angels. the rangers still lead by 4 1/2 games, but they have the yanks and bosox this week. against the yanks they'll face burnett, petitte, and sabathia.
  14. the view that i could see on the internet feed wasn't very good, but it looked like quite a few stuck it out.
  15. Final! 3-2, Horns win in 25!!!!!!
  16. oops, got rangers on the brain
  17. if i heard correctly, the guy who got the hit is 1 for 11 in the game
  18. Rangers break through in the 25th! Up 3-2, runner on 1st, 1 out.
  19. unbelievable! is this one on TV?
  20. the rangers just thumped the A's 14-1, and the Angels lost 4-3 in 10 to Seattle. With their modest 3 game win streak, and the Angel's 2 game losing streak, the Rangers' lead has swelled to a very healthy 5 1/2 games. they still have the best record in the A.L. This has been a very important series for the Rangers, and they could really use another win tomorrow before they go play 3 in new york and then 3 in boston.
