I believe this this series is only a best of 5, which makes this win even bigger!  Even if they only win one of their next 3 games, they'll have Lee on the bump again with a chance to win in game 5.

what a great start for the rangers!  the moves the made in the middle of the year paid off big time today!  Two players they traded for, Cliff Lee (7 IP, 10 K, 1 R) and Bengie Molina (3/4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR) had monster games, and Jeff Francoer, who they picked up on waivers was 1/4 with a run and an rbi. 

Lee 91 pitches, 10 Ks, 4 Hs, 0 Rs, 6 scoreless innings.  this is why the rangers traded for him.

Molina with another 2-out HR for the Rangers!  They lead 4-0 with 2 gone in the 4th!!!

after two long innings in which lee gave up 4 hits and had 5 k's, which ballooned his pitch count, he had a much needed 7-pitch 1-2-3 inning in the 3rd.

great start for the rangers off of Price.  5 hits in 1.2 innings. I was worried when Cliff Lee loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but he struck out the side to get out of the jam.

nobody is giving the reds a chance, and looking at their lineup, i can understand that, but... this is the playoffs, and anything can happen.  i'll go out on a limb and say that the reds upset everyone's world series favorites in 7.

i'm pretty indifferent, but i'd guess i'd have to say i'm rooting for the braves, but expecting the giants to win it.

The series kicks off today at around 12:30 this afternoon.  I was hoping the rangers would get the yankees, who they'd played well against this year, but at least they don't have to deal with the playoff atmosphere in yankee stadium.  If the rangers can take this first game, i like their chances.  Apart from Cliff Lee, they have some seriously underrated pitchers who are good enough to shut down the Rays if they don't get playoff jitters.
