George Steinbrenner dead at age 80

arguably the most famous sports team owner in baseball history. -
they all took less money to help the team, but when you're talking about the type of money they're getting, it's not like they'll notice what they passed up.

Uruguay and Germany are tied 2-2 pretty late in the game. it's been a pretty open game, and entertaining to watch. the 3rd place game usually is.
I got out there about 10:45PM. I saw a couple of people fishing on the seawall.
were you the guy walking by yourself up on the shrimp dock in a blue uniform?
I never went to the docks, only to the seawall.
there were two guys walking that i said hi to, but they were patrolling, so i figured it wasn't you. unless that was you, i don't know how i missed you.

The Rangers Just Started the Year Off Right!
bullets13 replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
the rangers gave up their second 4-run lead in two days tonight, this one on a 2-strike, 2-out grand slam. they've now given up a homer in the top of the 10th, and are down to the league-worst orioles. they blew a chance to extend their lead to 6 1/2 games yesterday, and are in danger of seeing it shrink to 4 1/2 tonight. what a waste. hopefully they'll do something in the bottom of the 10th here. -

well, me and bucof2010, and maybe thetragichippy are gonna go out and try our luck tonight, and tvc has said he's going to make a cameo appearance. i'm looking forward to catching some fish, and meeting a few folks that i've been talking to on here for years!

I also heard that the main decision of him not going to Chicago, where he would've had a better shot at a championship, was that they refused to cater to the needs of his entourage. They said they didn't do it for Jordan, so they weren't going to do it for him.

This is a HUGE trade for the Rangers!!! Lee is arguably the best pitcher in the AL, and is going to be a huge help down the stretch. Hopefully he'll like it in Texas and sign a big contract at the end of the year.
They're crucifying him in Cleveland
i honestly think had he not strung cleveland, and the whole franchise, along, and done this professionally, instead of turning it into a 3-ring circus, there would be disappointment in cleveland instead of hatred.

In the span of just a few weeks i've gone from being an indifferent fan who enjoyed watching him to see what he was going to pull off... to a now passionate fan who wants nothing more than to see him fail. I can understand the move, but could he have shown any less class in doing it? Abandon your hometown team? That's tough, but forgiveable for the right reason... string along 6 franchises for weeks, and thus not allowing them to make any other free agency moves while they wait for you to make a decision that you've already made? That's BS. Indulge yourself by creating an hour long espn special for your coming out party? arrogant and self-serving. Of course, espn didn't call him out on any of this... one bland and gutless fraud is not going to ask anything that might make another bland and gutless fraud uncomfortable.

I predict HJ has another "rebuilding" year, and wins between 27-30 games :). I also predict that at least one 21-3A team goes to the regional finals, and most likely represents our area at state.

A male fan, who fell from the second deck to the field level seats while leaning to catch a foul ball hit during Tuesday's game at Rangers Ballpark, was stabilized, responsive and moving his extremities as he was taken to John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth. Texas Rangers officials didn't know the name of the fan, who was described as a middle-aged, white male. The man fell from the club level, hit the railing on the suite level and landed in the lower deck down the first base line. The drop is about 30 feet. Four other fans were injured, but were being treated by paramedics at the stadium. The fan fell after Nelson Cruz hit a foul ball down the right field line in the bottom of the fifth with the Rangers leading the Cleveland Indians 3-1. The man attempted to catch the ball and tumbled over the railing. The event left the ballpark silent and play was suspended for 16 minutes as the field was cleared. Several players were bowing their heads and appeared to be praying while others watched intently as paramedics were attending to the fan. He was taken off by a stretcher.

OU sucks more than hemorrhoids. actually, OU invented them. -

i've mentioned this before, but when i was a sophomore i was on a team made of mostly seniors from WB and Kelly, with a few players from other schools in the area. We lost 1 game all year, going something like 30-1-3. There's definitely enough talent in this area to make some very competitive teams, it's just a matter of consolidating the talent, and trying to keep our best players from going to Houston (Matt Kirby being a recent example)
Bullets did you play with Matt Kirby?
no, he's younger than me, but he's a good example of the type of players we lose to houston.
