i've mentioned this before, but when i was a sophomore i was on a team made of mostly seniors from WB and Kelly, with a few players from other schools in the area. We lost 1 game all year, going something like 30-1-3. There's definitely enough talent in this area to make some very competitive teams, it's just a matter of consolidating the talent, and trying to keep our best players from going to Houston (Matt Kirby being a recent example)

ABUJA, Nigeria -- The president of Nigeria has suspended the national soccer team from international competition for two years after a poor showing at the World Cup. Ima Niboro, a spokesman for President Goodluck Jonathan, made the announcement Wednesday, saying the ban would enable the country to reorganize its football administration. Niboro said that all funding for the World Cup squad, including the hiring of Swedish coach Lars Lagerback, would be investigated. Nigeria was eliminated from the World Cup with just one point, which came in a 2-2 draw with South Korea in its final game. Nigeria lost to Argentina 1-0 in its Group B opener and fell to Greece 2-1 in a game turned by the first-half expulsion of midfielder Sani Kaita. The Super Eagles haven't won a World Cup match since 1998, going out with two losses and a draw in 2002 and failing to qualify for Germany 2006. The Nigerian Football Federation's executive committee had earlier tendered an apology to the government and "all football loving Nigerians" for the early exit. Nigeria risks being banned by FIFA, soccer's governing body, from all international soccer because of the political interference. "At the time of writing, we have no official information on this matter," FIFA said in a statement. "However, in general, FIFA's position regarding political interference in football is well known." Nigeria's next scheduled international match is a qualifier for the 2012 African Cup of Nations, at home against Madagascar in early September. FIFA rules demand that national federations manage their affairs independently, or face suspension from world soccer. National and club teams, plus referees, would be barred from participating in international matches and soccer officials are prevented from attending meetings. FIFA president Sepp Blatter had already expressed concern over the French government's investigation into France's surprising first-round exit from the World Cup. "Definitely I can tell you that political interference will be dealt with by FIFA notwithstanding what kind of interference and what is the size of the country," Blatter said Tuesday in remarks about France.

The Rangers Just Started the Year Off Right!
bullets13 replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
the rangers picked up a big win against the angels tonight! the win puts them 4 1/2 up in the division. what an incredible June! The rangers have won 8 straight series, and 14 of 16 games. They're 21-6 in June, and 17 games over .500. Right now they're tied with the Yankees for the best record in baseball! -
Rangers Sign Vladimir Guerrero!
I am off from now until July 10th and I might make some nighttime fishing trips if the weather will clear up from this storm. I will have to check and see how the tides are running.
cool. PM me if you want to make a trip one night.

I had the good sense to find a line of work with summers off, so i'm free most nights. mondays, tuesdays and wednesdays i play soccer, but i'm still usually done by 8-8:30. I'm willing to go with any of you guys, and even better, you're welcome to any fish i catch. i love to fish, but i hate to clean them. so, tvc, vp, ecbuc, or anyone else, if you're going out any time over the next couple of weeks, and want some company (and hopefully an extra limit of fish), pm me and we'll work it out.

if you get to go, tear em up!
Let me know next time yall go..... I wouldn't mind fishing with ya instead of against ya...
will do.
A couple of guys went out last night and took 20 of them home but it took about 4 hours.
i was gonna head out there but my buddy wanted to go to rollover.

what an amazing video! anyone who thinks that soccer is irrelevant in America needs to watch that video. I'd challenge them to find a more passionate group of fans.

you had a menstral meeting? sounds terrible.

SETXSPORTS POSTERS FISHING TOURNAMENT
bullets13 replied to Vpbaseball#9's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i might could've made it interesting if i'd fished a worm in the past 10 years. i missed two good bites early. if i'd landed them, who knows. as it is, hippy skunked me 3 fish to 0. that makes up for the 1-0 shelacking i layed on him when we went flounder fishing awhile back. -

Both should be good games to watch.
i'm with you on the germany game, but i'll take mexico to shock the world.
Germany and Argentina. Messi finally comes out.
you were right, and i was wrong, although messi has had a great tournament, apart from scoring. Mexico is currently down 3-0. They got royally screwed on the first goal, which was about 2 miles offsides, but afterwards they've crumbled. i can't say i haven't enjoyed it a bit, though :)
Dempsey is 27 and Donovan is 28. Next world cup they will be past their prime. The US squandered away their best oppertunity to make some noise in the world cup.
i'm going to respectfully disagree here. they'll still be at top level at 31-32. look at bocanegra, demerit, howard, and cherundelo. all of them are 31, and all of them are better now than they were at 27.
-
I hear you, Bon, but Spain always has those youngsters, and i'm just excited that our team is getting better and better, and looks to be better in four years than they are today. in 4 years we'll hopefully have found a left back, and we should have 8 years before we need to replace howard.

i don't know what altidore's deal was today, but i thought he played really well the rest of the tourney. he didn't find the net, but he was a beast on the ball and held it up well until others could come and support.
-
As for the US, i was impressed with them throughout the tourney, apart from all the early goals conceded. I'm proud of our boys, and the future looks bright. Conceivably every player on our roster that matters will still be young enough to play in the next world cup. We also have a ton of young talent that could be scary good in 4 years in Fehlhaber, Altidore, Davies, Bradley, Torres, etc etc etc.

i thought this was the first game that Bob Bradley did a poor job of coaching. 1) Ricardo Clark had no business being on the field. I actually can't EVER remember seeing him in a game and being impressed. When I saw him in the lineup, i cringed, and what do you know, a terrible giveaway by him led directly to Ghana's first goal. 2) Benny Fehlhaber had no business being on the bench. He's as composed as any midfielder the US, and he doesn't give the ball away or give on defense. When he came in, the US was a much better team. 3) Why take Findley out at halftime? He actually played quite well in the 1st half. Jozy looked terrible the ENTIRE game. Take HIM out at the half. Findley showed poise, Jozy looked sluggish and lazy. Just my opinions, but they're right.
