3. Local Kelly product, Nathan Stockie's NPSL team the Brooklyn Italians are in the 2nd round of the U.S. Open Cup or Hunt Cup against USL Pro team Rochester Rhinos.  Nice short write up in the following soccer blog. ]
4. The ACC is possibly the best college soccer conference in the country!
5. Shark you had 2 players in your 1st jr class that did not come through the feeder schools.  They came from Odem Jr. High.  They attended for the academics and were not recruited for soccer.
6. Matt Kirby, Univ. of Denver and former Bmnt Kelly player was nominated for the Lowes Senior CLASS Award.  This national award is for Senior NCAA soccer players who excel on and off the field.  Congrats to Matt for this prestigious nomination.  ] ]
7. Camps for college soccer teams have started all over the country.  Who from the area are still playing? Here is what I know: Matt Kriby, Kelly - Sr. University of Denver(D1) Nathan Stockie, Kelly, Jr. Long Island Univ.(D1) Zach Clarke, Kelly, Soph. Washington & Lee Univ. (D3) Zuri Prince, Kelly, Fr. Stephen F. Austin Univ. (D1) (Shark - any of your last years Sr. playing this year?) Scott Poole, Lumberton, Soph, Mary Hardin Baylor U. (D3) Travis Greenway, Vidor, Jr., Hardin Simmons, (D3) Sam Gurski, West Brook, Jr. William Penn Univ. (NAIA) I know I am missing a lot, especially the girls.
8. This is very common.  The coach of the English National team is from Italy.  I believe the Turkish coach is from Holland.
9. Former Kelly goalie Nathan Stockie won the the SE region presidents cup a few years ago with the Texans.  They did not have a National final that year.
10. Nathan Stockie playing for the Brooklyn Italians in the NPSL Italians
11. Woodlands Tournament WB 1 - Lamar 2 WB 3 - Dullus 1
12. Heard Kelly had an alumni game last weekend.  Anyone know how it went? ???
13. What ever happened to Jacob Fairchild (West Brook)?  He is not on the William Penn (NAIA) roster this year.  I thought he had a very successful freshman campaign.
14. Over the last few years we have managed to have a few players make it to the next level (Boys & girls).  We have kids sign at DI, DII, DIII and NAIA schools.  Who is going on this year?  Are any of the West Brook or Kelly girls getting offers?  I have to believe that Mr. Poole (Lumberton) and Mr. Clark (Kelly) are playing in college.  Also, it would be nice to hear from anyone who knows how our previous graduates are doing at their respective schools.
15. Lack of any middle school or high school boys sides in the Spindletop program really hurts the area high school teams. We only have a very few individuals who make the commitment to play in Houston.  The high school coaches are getting players who have not had good training or played at high levels of competition.  The '90 group was the last beaumont boys to play D1. The 91 group occasionally played at the super II level, but nothing since.  Soccer, like baseball requires strong skill development at the younger ages.  A lot of fine motor skills need to be developed.  Soooo, until the boys pony up, and commit to playing year around and challenge themselves to play against the best, just be thankful you play in weak districts so a few of you can make the playoffs, but good luck making it past the 1st few rounds. Congrats to the Spindletop Girls for their success over the last few years. Suggestion to the coaches:  Council and encourage your players to play in the off season at the highest level they can.  I know for a fact the the Klien ISD coaches encourage club participation and even follow their players when they play club ball.  I know you can't coach club ball, but their is nothing to stop you from communicating with the local club to develop your players game.  Also, no one high school has enough talent to compete well at the D1 level.  Any good club team will HAVE to be a mix of the best from all the local schools.  Come on guys, if you love soccer, step up and challenge yourself.
