Lets hope he has learned from these life events, like we all have at one time. ;) [/quote] except for the whole cancelling of the main event due to sickness, but then being well enough to go out and live it up later on that night.  i know that nobody is perfect, but his timing was unfortunate, to say the least.  cancel the event because you're "sick", but then get well in just a few hours and go out and get arrested after clubbing?  if this had happened under any other circumstances, i honestly wouldn't think much of it, but to happen the way it did, i lost a lot of respect for him.

4 of us went out tonight for about 3 hours and caught 20 specks and 10 sandies.  i also caught my biggest speck of the year, a 21 1/2 incher that was FAT, weighing nearly 4 lbs.

say what you want, but he's great for the game.  ratings are through the roof when he's in contention.  personally, as a so-so golf fan, i've watched a bit of each round on the golf channel just to see how he was doing.  before thursday, i didn't even know for sure that i HAD the golf channel.

a buddy and i went out last night and kept 17 specks, and kept 16 more tonight.  the fishing isn't on fire, but there are still plenty around.

he has a stress fracture in his back.  he's been moved from the 15 to the 60-day DL, although it's retroactive to June 19th, so he might be back sooner that we think.  seems really serious, but david wright just came back after only a couple of months with a stress fracture in his back, so hopefully it's not as serious as it sounds.

yes, it's very common, and in this case, most likely a great move for the US men's team.  As a matter of fact, the US women team's coach is Pia Sudhage, who is an all-time great from Sweden.  Even though he's from Germany, Klinsman is still a coach, and he's taking a coaching job.  he doesn't have to be from the US to excel, and in fact will likely bring a fresh outlook and proven tactics that the US badly needs.  The US has repeatedly hired mediocre coaches from the US, and although they've improved, they haven't come as far as they should.  Hopefully this change will help them take that next step.

you know it's been a good summer when two of you go out and catch 14 specks, 2 sandies, and a red and feel like it wasn't a good night's fishing :).  we had to fight for them all night, though, and it was tough going due to the 50 or so dinks we caught.

a pretty disappointing night... but only because we caught our limit so quickly that we didn't get to fish longer :)

nope.  i just don't see it.  about half the guys i know think she's hot, and the other half don't understand what they see.  as far as i'm concerned, she's pretty from afar, but far from pretty.

they needed some help getting back on their feet after their bus was "struck by lightening".

Terrible showing by the US.  they should've won 4 or 5-0 in regulation, but couldn't score.  then they couldn't hold a lead.  twice.  then in the shootout, the first 3 pks were absolute garbage, combined with a fairly easy save that solo let go through/under her hand.  The US was twice the team Japan was.  They had to work hard to lose this game.

but if that's the coach i'm thinking of, nash, he's as good as it gets.  hard to find one better than that.

we chartered a boat out of destin today and limited on snapper.  we were dodging storms all day, but kept 22 snappers, with several in the 5-6 lb range.  we also caught a 10, a 12, and i caught my biggest ever, at 21 lbs.  we also caught 6 vermillion snapper, 4 trigger fish, one lesser amberjack, and a small grouper called a scamp.  we had a blast!

The man who died was a firefighter in the area.  What's crazy is that one year and one day before, another Dallas-area firefighter was hurt after falling 30 feet trying to catch a foul ball at the Ballpark in Arlington.
