Had an Idea! Texas Grand Champion

an option to consider would be having a early season tourney taking the regional finalists from all regions in 4A and 5A the previous year. of course, the team makeups would be somewhat different than they were the year before when those teams made it that far, but you can bet that you're still going to end up with most of the best teams in the state. -
Is the fishing under the lights at the ft. Anahuac park pier any good?
I can't speak for Anahuac, but last weekend the fish weren't really active under the lights yet on the intercoastal canal.
I think this is the best line-up (or rotation that can handle any line-up) in the MLB...if they stay healthy! Roy Halladay Cliff Lee Roy Oswalt Cole Hamels
IMO that's probably the best 4-starter rotation in the history of baseball. Halladay and Lee would both be the ace on any other team in the league, and Hamels and Oswalt would be the ace on at least half of the teams in the league.

7-3, final. rangers complete their second consecutive sweep to start the season!

6-0!

Rangers facing King Felix today... gotta absolutely LOVE kinsler working a 10-pitch walk to lead off the game :)
-
the most exciting thing for the rangers so far, even more than their hitting has been their starting pitching. after once through their rotation: CJ Wilson: 5.2 Innings, 6 hits, 2 BB, 2 ER, 6 K Matt Harrison: 7.0 Innings, 5 hits, 2 BB, 1 ER, 8 K Colby Lewis: 6.0 Innings, 6 hits, 2 BB, 3 ER, 4 K Derek Holland: 6.0 Innings, 7 hits, 1 BB, 3 ER, 5 K Alexi Ogando: 6.0 Innings, 2 hits, 2 BB, 0 ER, 4 K Every starter other than Wilson has picked up the win.

the bullpen gets it together, and the rangers win 3-2! how bout them rangers???? 5-0!
-
the only thing that really worried me about the rangers is getting exposed right now... lowe comes in and gives up 3 singles, then oliver gives up two. rangers 3-0 lead is now 3-2, with the bases loaded and only one out. the rangers' relievers are pretty shaky right now with the exception of feliz.
-
they've got to be ecstatic about what they got from Alexi Ogando today! In his first EVER start in the majors (and he only had 3 in the minors before going to relief last year), he goes 6 innings, 90 pitches, 2 hits, 2 walks, 4 K's, 0 runs. he has top of the rotation stuff!

PAT KNIGHT to accept Lamar job!!

i expect his name alone will get good recruits, and even though he wasn't particularly successful, he'll have a lot of experience from the big 12. -
napoli was a big pickup for the rangers, as they've gotten very little offense from the catcher position over the past several years, and he's got the capability to hit 30-35 HR, and can play 1st as well.

Smoak is going to be a good first baseman, but the rangers had three 1st basemen that were almost identical in Smoak, Moreland, and Davis, all left-handed power hitters, so it was a no-brainer of a trade for them. they gave up a couple of decent, but not top of the line pitching projects in blake blevin and josh lueke, but they have so many good young arms that's not a big deal, and i don't think either has cracked the bigs yet. they also gave up a 2nd baseman prospect who was decent, but not anything special, and i'm assuming kinsler will hold that position for the big club for several years to come, so again no big deal. the rangers also got mark lowe, a solid reliever, although he's coming off a big injury and didn't pitch very well in the pre-season, as well as a couple of million bucks cash. all in all, it was worth it, even for just a 3-month rental, as lee was instrumental in them getting to their first ever world series. i'd say it was a good trade for both teams, as the mariners got a solid 1st basemen and some players who might develop into big league regulars for someone they weren't going to be able to re-sign, and the rangers got a trip to the world series.
Again, who wants to face Nelson Cruz in the 6 hole? Cruz hit the RANGERS 4th HR of the day into the upper deck of the homerun porch.
opposite field, upper deck. NASTY.
Kinsler and Napoli hit solo shot's as well. The RANGERS lead 3-0 after 5.
rangers with 3 hits, all taters.
cruz just hit the 4th hr of buchholz.
Clay on a short pitch count today. Gotta be a terrible feeling to get completely punished every little mistake you make. lol
yup, he only made 4 bad pitches all game. in a regular game you might get punished once. he got punished on EVERY single one of them. he actually pitched a pretty good game.

great start to the season for the rangers against everyone's choice to represent the AL in the world series this year
Moving upstream early this year. Last year we started catching them on the docks early though and they disappeared late. Maybe this year will be the same.
