1.
First Down I have seen Mexia on tape..........very quick, deep and athletic.  Reminds me of a team that HJ had trouble with during the regular season. I can assure you that HJ is focused squarely on the Black Cats. And that the people stirring the pot and talking trash on here are SILSBEE fans, that are deep down inside hoping that the Hawks trip and fall!!!! Good luck tonight First Down....come introduce yourself to me.  I will be the smaller of the two guys broadcasting the game!!!!! ;) ;) ;D ;D
so that's why you broadcast with poppa... :)
 2. That's what I was thinking, Lazeek.  Seriously, you can respect a team and still call them underdogs in a game where they're well, underdogs.  I'm an HJ boy through and through, and I didn't have any problem with the fact that they weren't favored.  I knew they had a chance to win, though, and they did.  This is the same case with Nederland.  They're playing a better team than any they've faced all season, who's played a tougher schedule than Nederland with a similar record and a higher ranking.  It's okay for Nederland to be an underdog.  I'm not saying they don't have a chance, because they do, and I'm not saying I don't want them to win, because I do.

No, Cleveland and Silsbee were the BEST BASKETBALL TEAMS IN THE REGION.  The fact that HJ beat Cleveland or that Silsbee was upset by Sealy doesn't change that fact.  The reason that HJ was an underdog to make it to Austin was because Cleveland and Silsbee were in their way.  Those two teams are no longer in the way, and although HJ has a VERY tough opponent tomorrow, I'd much rather see them play Mexia than Silsbee or Cleveland again.  Two of the reasons that Nederland was an underdog to make it to Austin were Ball and LaMarque.  Those two teams are STILL in the way of Nederland, meaning Nederland is STILL an underdog.  Yes, they've had a nice run, but they still have to beat probably the two best teams they've played all year to get to state.  It has nothing to do with pedigree.  It has everything to do with the remaining opponents in their way.
....Probably the best...based on their pedigree???
based on their talent, their records, their wins, etc. etc. etc.
I am hearing that mammagotjuice will be the area's first woman head boys basketball coach. ;) Assistants will be Penny Hardaway and Walter Yates Sr., with consulting from Greg Wise of Houston Yates.
pretty formidable crew there :)

 7. Mexia just beat the crap out of a Lufkin Hudson team that gave HJ a good game earlier in the year.  HJ is good enough to win, but I'm not going to be comfortable with HJ being as confident as you appear to be.  If they don't go into this one ready for a dogfight, they're liable to lose and waste their big win over Cleveland.
HJ is having a great season, no doubt. THE top team in the area...come on! Silsbee beat them twice, Nederland, Central, and LC-M(?) also beat them. They are a solid team, but not better than Silsbee or Nederland (regardless the fact that Silsbee is already out-they beat them twice!)
Abe, you are probably right but I am betting  they are more improved over the past 3 weeks than anyone else in this area.
I'm NOT going to argue with that! After their win last night, I'm on board...Unlike AAW and Soulja NOT being on board w/Nederland. Come on guys...what's it going to take???
Everyone is pulling for Nederland, but they are still going to be underdogs the rest of the year.  Now that Cleveland and Silsbee are gone, HJ is actually a favorite to get to state.
Glad I was wrong there! Go HJ!
and likewise, i hope to be wrong here  ;D
 10.
Reed, Richardson and Ross have been starting for 3 years.  Walker is a new starter this year, but was on team last year.  The Indians have really missed Ross' twin brother who tore his ACL in football and consequently missed the entire basketball season!!!  There starting 5 were very good, but the bench is non-existent!!!!
so they would've had four 3-year starters except for the injury.  i knew there were at least 4 of them.
 11. i'm expecting this to be the end of the line, but i hope nederland wins it.  kind of like dogs1218 and his opinion of the hj/cleveland game.
 12. if i'm not mistaken, the cleveland team's five starters, or at least four of them have been starting for 3 years together.  and they're REALLY good.  with that talent, he should've been able to get past HJ at least once, especially considering HJ's had a "down year" all three years :)

HJ by 5.
The Cleveland Coach Has Got To Go.The Fan In Cleveland Told Me They Wish The School Board Would Fire Him. We Will See.
Why is that?  I listened over the radio.  Did the coach do a poor job or are the fans looking for a scapegoat.
Tired of 3 years of repeating history!
IOW, they are looking for a scapegoat!  ;D
they've been waiting for him to take one of the most talented programs in the state past a less-talented team with inferior athletes for 3 years, and 3 years in a row they've been outclassed and outcoached.

This isn't the same Cleveland team that loses every year. The Indians will go to state.

he sure hopped on the bandwagon quick once HJ took the lead  ;D
 15. Congrats! That's two SETX teams advancing!  we need more, though!
BADHOOTIE!
 18. Cleveland calls timeout with 6 seconds left, Hawks up 9, going to regionals!  again!  after beating cleveland!  again!
 19. only 15 seconds left, Hawks up 8, and going back to the line for 2!
