looks like the rut might be just kicking off here in east texas (marshall area). seeing a few scrapes, and 3 bucks (none real big) over the past few days after seeing no bucks here for several months.
-
just ate backstrap for the 3rd meal in a row (gonna have enough for leftovers tomorrow). we made backstrapkabobs, and they were absolutely phenomenal!
-
almost got a shot off at a coyote tonight, but he was moving pretty quick through a small sight window at about 125 yards.
-
killed a nice-sized doe this morning. had my pick of five, and had to wait until daylight. i sat in the stand all of 20 minutes :)
-
saw a couple of does this morning. planning on shooting one in the morning if they cooperate. oddly enough, the only thing i got to watch out of my stand this evening was good sized box turtle :)
-
one of the very few good things about having most of our lease burn this year is that there are very few snakes and very few ticks right now.
-
sweet! i'm headed out this evening and taking a 4-day weekend. any sign of the rut yet? i've heard rumors that it's starting already.
Maybe it should be played on the jumbotron in the end zone. Both teams could be hooked up Madden 12 and play each position independently. Like each team's quarterback can be the one on screen, each lineman can control his corresponding position, etc. The only thing that they need to be on the field for is the pregame handshake and the flip of the coin. The rest will be on the big screen. It could even be streamed to homes on pay per view so the crowd doesn't even need to show up if they don't want to. It would sure beat standing in line for tickets. Just think of the possibilities.........
not gonna work. somebody might get carpal tunnel... from now on, whoever wins the coin toss wins the game.

sorry, needed to vent, and had to wait this long to do it :). i couldn't even bring myself to get online. this one stings!

I'm a diehard rangers fan, and have been for 25 years. I'm incredibly pleased with the season they had, and i have no problem with them losing in the world series two years in a row. to make it this far is an incredible accomplishment once, much less twice when you look at the big payrolls they're competing with to get there. that being said, they should've easily won this series. How many times did they take a lead only to have their pitchers give up runs in the next half inning? How many poor choices did Washington make regarding pitch hitters and pitching changes? How does Ian Kinsler get picked off of 1st three times in one series, all of them at vital times? How does a pitching staff blow 3 saves in a clinching game, getting within 1 strike of winning the series twice? How does Nelson Cruz manage to play a ball off of the wall in the only possible way that would allow lance berkman to score from first? How many errors did we have? How many misplays did we have that allowed them to beat out infield hits that should've been outs? How many walks did we allow over the final two games?
Come on bullets, stay positive. This is a heck of a game. We just need the RANGERS to find a way to win.
tough to stay positive after the 9th and 10th. especially with cruz screwing completely up on that triple by not either busting his butt and actually making the catch, or playing the ball off the wall and keeping berkman at 3rd.
As good as this game is, I'm almost hoping for a game 7 to see another one!
not me. i've been waiting 25 years for this championship, and if they have to go again tomorrow their chances drop to 50/50 at best. about 30 minutes ago, and again about 15 minutes ago, their chances were probably 90%. awful.

Phillies decline option on both Oswalt and Lidge
In hindsight, always 20/20, trading Roy O when we did was a great move. He hasn't been nearly the Roy O he was for the Stros.
nope, should've traded him the year before and gotten twice as much for him. -
awful. the rangers deserve to lose at this point... and if they do, they're probably screwed tomorrow with harrison likely going against carpenter.
-
crazy game.
-
Oliver always has a good ERA and a good record, and he always seems to screw up in big situations... would've liked to see Feliz' power stay in to face the weaker part of the order.
-
wowowowowow!
-
HUGE out! going to the 9th up two!
-
crap. Elvis screwed up. not good. and if feliz comes in, he's usually really wild against his first batter.
-
gonna be interesting... come on rangers!
-
we haven't had many bucks on our property last year or this year. we have a lot of does, though. or neighboring lease has been getting lots of pictures of bucks. when the rut starts, we should see some activity.
