Back to the actual case: it’s been reported that after he stole the weed, a struggle ensued and the victim ended up on top of the killer, who at that time stabbed him. I understand why this can’t be self defense, but given the circumstances I kinda get a lenient verdict. If he was selling an Xbox I think everyone looks at this differently. I realize it was illegal to sell the weed, but the guy stole from him and then was beating him up when he tried to get his stuff back. I don’t know that I agree with the sentence, but I don’t know that I disagree with it, either. I’d be curious to hear all of the details of the case.

I don’t see it. I’m a big proponent of protecting yourself, but somebody running away from a minor theft doesn’t really seem like a justification for shooting them in the back.

Bad deal all around. The cop has to live with that for the rest of his/her life, and a family lost someone for no reason due to a terrible accident. I’m kind of curious… in this particular case is the race of the pedestrian relevant, as the writer of the article seems to think? If a civilian was involved instead of an officer, would the victim be identified as “a black man in his 40s?” Just seemed strange to me

I’ve enjoyed watching these games the last few days. The best part is the respect I’ve seen on the field. I’ve watched 6 of the games and haven’t seen an unsportsmanlike penalty, or even any pushing and shoving. With our country being as divided as it is right now, a lot could be learned from Texas HS football. There are teams with kids of all colors playing together as brothers. There have been games with teams of almost all white kids playing against teams made up of entirely black kids. These young men are helping each other up, patting helmets to congratulate good plays, consoling each other in defeat, and overall just showing a level of respect that is sorely lacking in our society today.

I get that Kimball only lost by 2 to Duncanville and beat Faith Family, and has played an insane schedule, but there’s no way they should be ranked #1 over BU at 4-4. BU now has wins against the #5 and #6 teams in 6A, a 35-pt win over the #1 3A team (who’s really a 5A team), and two wins against 4A #2 Silsbee (including a 30-point win).
