  1. I have an extremely reliable source.
  2. I wasn't there, but heard the story directly from an exceptionally reliable source.
  3. I found out this morning that a Cuero coach in plain clothes snuck onto the HF sideline at last week's game and the constable had to run him off. Kind of BS if you ask me. I hope the UIL does something about it, but not sure what the ramifications are.
  4. I'm seeing a lot of links between the rangers and ohtani. That would be cool, but if we can get Hader and Snell that would be just as good imo. realistically just Hader and we are a much improved team next year. If our closers had saved 70% of their chances the rangers win the division by probably 7-8 games. One more interesting development: Clayton Kershaw is Rangers GM Chris Young's neighbor in Dallas. He's out for a few months, and there's no telling what he does when he comes back, but it's worth a gamble.
  5. He says Palmore was picking up an order at about 7:45 p.m. According to workers at Papa Johns, he was mad at the staff for some reason. They described him as 'possibly intoxicated.' Sullins says after Palmore walked out the door, he threw a pizza box toward the father, who was preparing to walk inside to order a pizza. The father asked Palmore what he was doing. According to witnesses, Palmore pulled out a nine millimeter pistol from his pocket and pointed it at the father. Sullins says the son was getting out of the passenger side of the truck, saw Palmore pull the gun and point it at the father, and pulled out his handgun from a holster and fired four to six shots at Palmore. Palmore was struck in the head and died at the scene, in front of the father's pickup truck. Sullins says it appears Palmore didn't fire any shots.
  6. Chief Sullins says Waylon Mark Palmore, 51, of Kirbyville, died outside the Papa Johns in the Madison Plaza shopping center on Main Street in Lumberton. No charges were filed against the son and he cooperated with investigators. "It's pretty much cut and dried," Sullins told us. "It's a son protecting his dad."
  7. [Hidden Content]# from the article it looks like it may have been self-defense

  9. I see this game going similar to sealy if there are a lot of kids out. Closer than it probably should be, but decided before the final whistle blows. Now, if Silsbee doesn’t get some of the studs back before Bellville/Madisonville, it may be a different story
  10. I don't have any insight into Coldspring's circumstances, other than they played with my head on the pickems just about every week.
  11. Another weird end to a weird season. The only team I could compare them to this year is Coldspring. They played tough teams all year, and competed pretty well, narrowly losing several games to very good competition, only to get boatraced in their last game of the season in a game where a lot of folks expected them to keep it close, if not win. Oddly enough, just like WOS, this season was basically a carbon copy of last year's for Coldspring.
  12. So to sum it up, this kid robbed and beat a kid, kicking him repeatedly on the ground while he was in the fetal position, but his family thinks he was just "picking" and "meddling".
  13. Can't imagine why he acts the way he does. Oh, wait, yes I can. From the article: "Investigators say the assault started when Savoy tried to steal items, including a cell phone, from another student. Video obtained by officials shows the victim in a fetal position on the floor while Savoy punched and kicked him multiple times, according to the affidavit." Also from the article, quoting his grandmother: "They viewed the video saying that it wasn't a robbery because the phone was on the ground the whole time," said Johnson. "He just reacted and he told the guy to go to the next stall. But you know how kids are they meddle, they pick in school..."
  14. Would be hilarious, but I don't see Bellville taking Madisonville lightly again, if that's what happened last year. I've heard people reference the rain from last season, but if I was a coach who ran the slot-t I would pray for rain every friday. Who knows, though. Madisonville is a solid team, and despite others downplaying strength of schedule, we don't really know what Bellville will do against a team that's won more than 5 games (although I expect them to win this one by a couple of TDs). And Jasper's odds of going to dallas are beyond slim (just like my horns' are).
  15. You got your answer. Still waiting on what you're basing your statement of "Bellville likely winning the region" on. I'm not knocking them, and I know they're a good team. They do have a chance. I'm just curious what makes you think they have the best chance, confidently stating they'll likely do something they haven't done in over a decade, with two of the top 4 teams in the state standing in their way.
  16. I have it from a very good source that HJ and Liberty have opted up.
  17. I've moved over to the Bellville/Madisonville thread to quit polluting this one. Only gonna talk about the future and present in that one
  18. I'll come over here to quit polluting the other thread. And this is a bold statement, and I'd love to know what you're basing this on. Going through Silsbee and Cuero is a pretty tall task. Since the past doesn't matter, and strength of district doesn't matter, I can only guess it was their impressive win over 5-5 WOS? When's the last time they won the region? Honest question.
  19. I'm expecting a comfortable win for Bellville. That said, it's a win/win for me regardless of the result.
  20. Cuero is just one of those special places that seems to always field a great team, and constantly reload. I'm excited for HF to step up to the challenge of facing y'all, just wish it was a little further along in the playoffs.
  21. lol. they beat a 5-5 team that was 4th place in another district. I expected a lot closer game, but they still haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year, and bi-district results have made it very clear which district is better. I do look forward to seeing them play silsbee, assuming they don't blow it against madisonville again this year.
  22. Like I said, once Bellville beats silsbee THIS YEAR, I'll be proven completely wrong.
  23. okay. again, once Bellville beats Silsbee I'll be proven completely wrong. Just like they would've totally proven me wrong last year, except they lost to Madisonville, who then gave up 60 to silsbee the week after Bellville exploded on them for 3.
  24. Dak has played as well as he ever has over the last month. Hoping he can keep rolling.
