  1. Sure there is a rule. A school official walked up and told the students to cover up. They have that authority on their property. The school officials can go as far as having offenders arrested for trespassing if they fail to leave when asked. I have seen that in person. I don't see a problem with no shirts and think the principal is being too strict but when told to comply or leave, the students made their choice. How much of a rule do you need? schools are funded with tax money, making them public property you can't arrest someone for trespassing at an event in which they have paid for a ticket.... sorry tvc, but you're wrong on this 1 Gee, I'm wrong? Silly me. How do I know anything about the law? Sorry Vidor Pirate, not only can you be arrested for trespassing on school grounds, there is a special law just for that. TEXAS EDUCATION CODE § 37.107. TRESPASS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. An unauthorized person who trespasses on the grounds of any school district of this state commits an offense. An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor. I've seen several people, including students from that particular school, arrested for trespassing on your "public property". Absolutely correct. I know of several trespass warnings currently issued to folks. If they show up in the stadium they will be arrested.
  2. There is probably way more to the story than the one side published in the paper. Unless I'm misreading, two of the posters here are creators of the "Scrubs" from last season and appear to even be questioning the students' actions.
  3. I have not really said much about that play, but a spread shotgun formation at the 3? ??? After the awesome Tiger play that got it at the 3 I was hoping Castle would go in under center and run up the middle. We ran a play against Kelly last week when we turned it over at the goalline. Is this what happened to WOS in the playoffs 2 seasons ago? At any rate the defense has greatly improved in rush defense. The pass defense is still a little suspect but things are improving.
  4. What were Johnson's final stats? He seemed to struggle at times but he should have some gaudy stats.
  5. Silsbee's floor was removed today. New floor should be in place by season.
  6. So their insurance is already kicking in? That would be very quick if true.
  7. Silsbee has suffered damage to their floor. The middle school (old hs) suffered damage as well but they were trying to save the floor. It may be like the '05-'06 season with games at the ms. I'll know more in a few days.
  8. Yet the only county that didn't have a mandatory evacuation is still at 8 p.m. :-[ :-\
  9. I can't get over how inept the Galveston mayor is. The woman can't even answer basic questions.
  10. We're staying. Unfortunately my new house is only 3/4 "dried-in". >
  11. As of right now that is not true. I have yet to receive that call.
  12. Diboll has an excellent kicker. He was the difference maker. Silsbee made tremendous strides from last week's Davis game. The blocking is slowly coming around. The referees were clueless most of the time tonight. They struggled with calls all night on both teams.
  13. I would venture to say if this game is played then someone won't be returning after this season.
  14. Silsbee's main problem last night was line play. I would highly suspect some sub-varsity kids getting a look for line. Johnson can't do it by himself. There were some o-line one in particular who would just stand there and not really engage the defender. I watched it repeatedly.
  15. Being a felony will require him a DAEP placement thus keeping him out of extra curricular.
  16. I agree. No offense to Kelly fans but I'll pass.

  18. Who will be this year's overachievers and underachievers from their preseason rankings?
  19. Teachers are granted 450 minutes worth of conf time in a 10 day span. Some districts who have a block schedule may actually give 900 in the same span. I would wager that the powers that be have determined Jasper has to improve in the academic areas. Football records are all fine and dandy but it is the classroom where performance must shine the most. Also with tightening budgets folks are required to do more and more and coaches are no exception. Athletics are secondary in a school setting.
  20. 2006 West Columbia game. Up by 10 with 3 minutes to go.
  21. I felt bad for Jasper. That must have been a long drive to New Caney.
  22. Lot bigger than your central office. I do not know all the ins and outs but it takes solid teachers, parents, and most importantly students to make a difference. It is obvious you dislike your school's leadership over there but money issues are not dictating your TAKS scores. Back to the original post, I would imagine the Orange county economy probably has more to do with enrollment than anything else. Hasn't BC and OF dropped a bit as well?
