  1. 1-high school 2-middle schools 4-elementary schools 1-alternative campus plus all sports complexes, maintainence, transportation, and administration facilities maintained by 2-electricians, 1 A/C Tech, 1 Plumber, 2 Carpenters, 1 Locksmith, 1 Painter, 5 Grounds Keepers, 1 General Maintainance, and ???????????? .................... how much do you think the CREW can do for YOU ! Confession............ I'm ONE ! NO APOLOGIES ! YOU can do better ? Come on ! All the slamming maintainance make me sick. COMPLETE ignorance ! Investigate before you point the finger of guilt. My opinion.............. Vote NO ! Because................ management, not maintainence !
  2. Guess that gives Bob West about 5 more years to learn to say his name correctly..................
  3. Like the man said, Barton already has contracts with schools ( Nederland, PNG, and PAM ) and he is obligated to them. It's all about money. Bmt Kelly obviously stepped up and provided some sponsors to get the telecast. That's why we are broadcasting the teams we are doing ( Kirbyville, Silsbee, Lumberton, and BISD GOW ) because we got sponsor money to do it along with them providing their own broadcast teams.. If other schools would come up with their own money and broadcast teams, we would do them also. One thing that I should have been more clear about on the issue of sponsorship. That money comes from area merchant and corporate sponsors, not any ISD. As far as contracts go, not sure how ironclad they are but an iron wall has been thrown up in some places. My believe is that it constitutes a monopoly, which I hate but what do I know. But as an American I've grown accustomed to options. Kelly was the first on board mostly because few wanted to open that door. Since then the Stump brothers and others have consented. Mike is actively lobbying that guy across the tracks to come on board and think he will agree. I know those people want to show off those new digs. Again, give it chance. Watch the West Brook game tonight at 10:35 and see what I mean. It's not about broadcasting the best game, but about who is going to pony up to take care of the costs.
  4. Well here goes............... Jim Barton and Port Arthur News Friday Night Experience have contracts governing the broadcast of many games. This production company has approached many local AD's with an offer of an opportunity to get their teams on television. So many other variables are involved to make things "HAPPEN" , mostly involving sponsorship dollars. It does take money to put on the show, cause it ain't being done for free. As far as Kelly goes, Coach Long has been strongly supportive of this company's efforts to bring this area a "SECOND CHOICE" in viewing enjoyment. The same can be said for Coach Stump in Bridge City. I ask you all to please be patient with this company and give them a chance. Watch the games and I promise you will at least enjoy the effort and technology that is put in to its production. As things grow over time you will see bigger and better things and also the games you seek as more believers come on board. Again, Kelly was willing to make a commitment. That is why you have these home games. I do understand that a PNG-Lumberton game is there for the commitment, but they haven't got one yet. Anyone out there got the Coach's ear may want to give MB a call................................

  6. Beginning this Friday, courtesy of KBTV ( NBC channel 4 ), high school football will be on local television. Friday night's match up between West Brook and Ozen will be aired in it's entirety at 10:35PM. Another KBTV game to be aired will be Central at Lumberton. Same time frame, same station. Chris Pruitt, the new station manager at 4, is the mastermind behind placing local high school games on right after the game. He has said the station hopes to do more in the near future if this is well received. I think it took about 2 seconds to convince James Ware and Nick Canizales this might be a good idea. A familiar name will be totally involved with the taping of these games. Sheffield Productions, formerly of Friday Night Experience, will tape the two games mentioned plus a whole schedule of other teams. All Kelly home games plus selected Vidor, Nederland, and Bridge City games are several of the games on this schedule. Except for the two Channel 4 games ( airing on NBC ) the rest of the season's games will air on Time Warner 18 ( on the following Wed after the game at 7:00 PM ) and roll over to digital channel 1 for 30 days. Sheffield Productions schedule for this season can be found in the Examiner, Port Arthur News and Beaumont Enterprise. For those interested , Mike and Lew Sheffield are proud to announce their whole video crew is still together after 13 fine seasons and looking forward to placing their best foot forward by taping two games for James Ware and his bunch at KBTV and finishing off with a full schedule of local schools on the agenda. Faithfull followers will be excited to know about new and better replay equipment with the support of onscreen graphics. More details to follow, but credit readers familiar with the names "Big Foot", the "Highlights Queen", DJ, and Evinrude, will be pleased to know all are on board plus the rest of the full cast are returning for this season.
  7. I don't know where they would put those people. It will be a packed house on a Friday night. Who knows where we will all park. I hope I don't get towed. I wish I could remember the name, but there is a new security company across from First Baptist on Nederland Ave. A long walk for WO-S fans, but that is where we go for home games. I don't mind the walk and most of all you easily avoid traffic.
  8. Maybe I missed it, but what I meant was that this kid was a starter at WR last year, the QB1 to be this year. Hence two spots to fill.
  9. How has Central coped with the QB/WR loss ? Last year WR starter and this year QB no longer there ? That would be a talent level loss at NED something like losing both Bellow and Brady. How do they fix that ? Anyway, the Jags are a team I admire now. They seem to have things together with Stower. Neumann was all this program needed. It is really a shame when programs with the athletes like Lincoln and Ozen can not do better than they have. Don't get me wrong, I like the Dogs to win them all, but I relish the fight. Get there stratching and clawing. As a fan Butt kickings can be a lift but they are BORING ! Not what I have come to love about Texas high school football. That's why the WO-S coming back get me going. I LOVE IT ! HOOKS ! GET OFF THE FIELD ! Seriously good luck to all 20-4A (except one game ! ) and no injuries. We want a defeat over your best. I'm an SEC fan (LSU) and I think since they play against the best in their own conference it can give them some advantage later on. I'd like to think this district could become the same way. There are a few teams in this district with records that don't show it, but can never be taken lightly. Let's all play some good clean ball and may the best team prevail and let's support them when they do !
  10. Ya'll probably think I'm lying, but my wife of 34 years loves the NED dogs as much as me . She does the barking and I'm the quiet one. Had to attend a few games without her and it just wasn't as much fun. We really have fun going to these games together. Been season ticket holders since the 1991 season. We come from LA. , and I swear Texas high school football is second to no one .
  11. Really easy answer here. P-N-G............... and not because of the facility or the parking. Last time, I arrived at 6:15 and by the time I parked, got in line all the way back at the fire station, it took until 7:20 just to get to my seat. The worst part is it can all be avoided with a little common courtesy by having a few extra gates with ticket takers available. All you ever get from them is that you're just a whiner. I wish just once we could return the FAVOR at Nederland. That would ended it I promise !
  12. All old timers, but here goes............... 1- Billy Cannon 2- Roy "Moonie" Winston 3- George Rice 4- Lynn Amedee 5- Jim Turner
