  1. Pretty easy.....they have talked. Reread the two words in the parentheses. This was first hand info to me so take it for what its worth.
  2. Silsbee will play HJ at the Montagne in the feature game next week. Todd and Travis have already agreed.
  3. I believe the Davis game will be at the newly renovated Delmar stadium. I have been there for a few swap meets.
  4. No high school guy needs to even be considered. This has got to be a splash. Getting a "name" is a must. Forget focusing on just the local and look at the big picture. Sure whoever gets it needs to add local flavor but they have to be able to pull from the talent rich areas of Houston and Dallas as well.
  5. I heard the money is in the low to mid 20 range. The majority here should know who some of the big donors are. I have a few contacts who have pledged some $$$$.
  6. Gut says it failed. If it does in fact fail I can honestly say the University didn't push hard enough for it. We have been speculating here for months if not years and until just the past 6 weeks or so has the University officially really said anything about it. Where would LU go from here? The old mindset of basketball is "king" and we don't need football has been an abysmal failure. It has taken LU 20 years to semi recover. Without the added programs LU will not grow much larger than it is now nor will community support grow. I'm an alumni and honestly this football thing is about the only thing LU has to even peak my interest in supporting. Here's to hoping my gut is wrong.
  7. NA$CAR will give Toyota some success this season. If nothing else they will make rule changes especially for them. NASCAR has catered to whoever is dumping the most money into their coffers for years. They have been loyal GM backers, but GM is having to pull back some money. Dodge was coming on strong 4-5 years ago then all of a sudden NASCAR demanded they change their engine layout due to the big chevy owners (Hendricks, Gibbs, etc)complaining. Much like the late 60s and early 70s when Mopar dominated with hemis etc NASCAR deemed them too powerful and mandated they change. Anyone notice Dodge was dominant in the Craftsman truck series until they were forced to change......Dodge then basically quit their factory sponsorship.
  8. Obviously you misread my post if you take what I said as insulting Lumberton. Lumberton as well as the other two schools I mentioned have been viewed as inferior for years. Lumberton has taken lumps for years but as soon as it looked like they were going to make the playoffs the school pride swelled as did the community support. That is what makes going to the playoffs does. To answer the question, yes, making the playoffs regardless of record sets most smaller communities abuzz. I will say it is sad however to see the big 5a schools, some here as well, not even go to their games. In regards to more schools making it I understand the nonsense with a 5 team district, but with an 8 team powerhouse of a district it isn't fair either. Like I stated if it is watered down then the "cookie can crumble" in a week.
  9. The term "scrub" is relative. Judson proved if anything how unequal districts are. Look no further than the local 3A district, the 4th and 5th place teams would have won the neighboring district's championship. You'll never make everyone happy, but at least those in a strong district get a chance to "stretch their legs" outside of their district so to speak. What difference does it really matter when after week one it should be apparent who should be in the playoffs and who shouldn't? The system quickly corrects itself and allows programs to taste a little success. The schools with perennial success probably really do not see the point and feel it waters down everything but to a program that rarely if ever gets the opportunity it is a tremendous feat for their program. If a Vidor or Kountze were to make the playoffs it instantly boosts the program and community, look no further than what it did in Lumberton.
  10. Unless I missed something where did UT,A&M, and OU go?
  11. At the Jasper/Silsbee game some old lady behind us kept screaming "take out his knees" repeatedly all night in reference to the Jasper qb. Now I'm all for slowing a kid down but hollering to injure a kid is just stupid.
  12. I sense it will be a "name" coach that is past their prime but has the ability to create an immediate splash recruiting and via media. This person will have connections and put together a solid foundation with good asst coaches and then turn the program over in 2-3 years to someone he has groomed. I say this based on the contacts Tubbs has and the "money" people supporting the program. I think we all know who those people are and their reputations are not to be associated with losing.
  13. I was thinking quite the opposite. I believe I counted 18-19 just from the Golden Triangle. They had a good representation of the area, but if anything this would solidify that it will take more than just this area's players to have a winning program.
  14. Seems like it would be better to have a stadium near Vincent Beck. Move the golf driving range and use its acreage for a new stadium or parking lot with the stadium on the other side of V-B. Realistically were talking having to redo the entire stadium now......which is cheaper redoing the old or putting in new?
  15. If I'm reading that right LaSalle never would really be competetive. Why would a nonscholarshipped fb player with sufficient talent want to play for them?
  16. They do need some local flavor, but after hearing some of the plan I have a distinct feeling the vision is bigger than SLC. Local would be great but the goal is to win and make a splash. It is going to take more than just our area schools' talent.
  17. A whole another level? You are joking right? I guess Kountze is just some scrub team. :
  18. LaMarque may be "down" by their standards but they are a very playoff seasoned team. LaMarque by 12.
  19. What is really sad is you coming into a thread that has nothing to do with your team only to instigate.
  20. Reread what you wrote. He lied. It doesn't matter if a substance was banned or not. He isn't being indicted on using steroids, he is being charged with perjury.
  21. It is ok Brady no harm done. You know it is easy to see your email with your name in it right?
  22. You play a role on the team so why come here and lobby your case Brady.......just ask coach T at practice what it will take for you to start.
  23. I don't recall many saying HF didn't stand a chance. They definitely were not favored by most, but did stand a chance. The district really needs to be split up. The big 3 will be favored once again with the returning players and underclassmen currently on the rosters.
  24. With the returning players WOS,Jasper, and Silsbee will be the big dogs for a few years.
