  1. So you're going to be losing money here, your stance makes sense now. And before you start spouting about tutorials read what was written. I was being sarcastic about getting the impression folks would rather see a teacher cut before a bus ride.
  2. This has to be the most idiotic post ever. It definitely is grasping at straws. If one was astute enough to look into this they'd find it was being discussed for months. Seems to me the folks over at WOS should be more involved in their school system. Also by this logic it is being alluded to that the kids and parents at WOS are not dedicated enough to be part of the program without this transportation. I have yet to hear how many kids this truly involves and benefits. WOS will be fine. The kids will still participate. WOS's numbers are dropping thus monies are going down as well. Maybe they just need to fire the reading or math tutorial teacher afterall we know what is more important. :
  3. As of the beginning of this school year Josh was still working towards his teaching certification. Unless something has changed over the past couple months he won't be considered. One coach has been contacted by BISD administration.
  4. Pretty much sums it up.
  5. Unfortunatly the "no child left behind" along with TAKS testing has a lot of "older" kids in middle schools right now. Some won't be able to play 4 full seasons in high school.
  6. Any coach worth their salt shouldn't leave their current program until after the season to pursue the Ozen position. I personally hope someone inside who is familar with everything gets the interim position until after the season IF Boutte has to leave early.
  7. I'm unsure Hancock could get the spot. There are some requirements needed although he'd be good. I'm all for Joubert coming to Silsbee if Travis leaves.
  8. I read this whole thread and if this statment is indeed true then your community has bigger issues than a few kids not playing sports. Before folks begin comparing tutorial bus trips versus extracurricular you need to get a better grasp on funding. Title I etc are federal funds designed for academic improvement. Strict guidelines must be met to receive these funds. I assure you football practice does not meet the criteria. Also setting budgets is not based on the immediate economic situation. Fuels may indeed be cheaper now but when school began they were not. This topic has been discussed prior to today.
  9. I anticipated a 8-10 pt win in a close game not a blowout like this.
  10. Agreed. The nonsensical diatribe that gets spewed here and in the Ozen threads is nauseating.
  11. If you were to write a letter to one of those coaches what would you say and why? What does PNG offer that those schools do not? You'd have to sell yourself. I'm curious to hear.
  12. Kountze always plays Silsbee close. Silsbee by 4.
  13. I don't know of any schools that take their kids home after practice.
  14. I doubt Port Neches will find a coach who bled as much purple as Burnett. The winningest coach in PNG history was just shown the door by those he was so loyal to. Sad actually, but of course he didn't know the game well enough....right?
  15. What happens now when the PNG faithful are still struggling to cope with the fact the talent may be down a bit over the next several years? Who gets the blame then?
  16. What is really sad here is hearing this kind of money being rumored with no real educational duties. Nobody else would see a problem with this?
  17. A certain "Major" was in Silsbee last week.
  18. My understanding is a certain Tiger may be throwing for them as well.
  19. You do realize that most hosting schools do not see much revenue from allowing playoff games right?
  20. Agreed! For the board member who wants to relive the glory days of the 70s how about a reality check. The game has changed but more importantly so have the kids. What is it with this entitlement attitude a lot of programs have? Far too often you read about how "good" certain groups of kids were in the pop warner leagues whether it be football, baseball, basketball, etc. I see all the time on these forums of folks wanting the coach's head because" this group of kids won at (fill in the blank lower level.) It is ridiculous. A lot of towns are cyclical. You'll see years of doing well followed by years of being down. Few teams stay on top forever. The whole mid-south Jefferson county seems to be down to some degree. Nederland, while still in the playoffs, has not been as dominant as in recent years. Port Arthur doesn't seem to be able to be consistent nor does Ozen. Maybe just maybe it isn't the coaching in these areas maybe other factors are in play here. No that can't be it obviously these rag writers and former players know better than anyone else.
  21. Didn't he win Willie Ray as a d-lineman?
  22. Silsbee shouldn't have much pressure. They are viewed as underdogs and should go into it loose. The real pressure falls on Navasota.
  23. Agreed.....I think we need to throw Prentice Lane in as well. He will be a very good wr for the next 2 years. The thing is Silsbee has some seriously good talent coming up. This was supposed to be the down year.
  24. Get off of your high-horse, I don't believe anyone said any squad wasn't good. As far as the Silsbee folks, we have seen quicker and more physical opponents this season and a lot of last night was the fault of our kids making some poor decisions. That doesn't take anything away from Huffman. They played hard.
  25. I believe each offense had a 12th man who hurt them and it was the wind. Johnson had some nice curves balls when that wind lifted the ball. Silsbee had some mental mistakes that the kids must overcome as the competition stiffens.
