1. Bonds are not to be used for salaries.  Bonds are monies voted on by the tax payers that are above and beyond the regular property tax.  Regular property tax rates are at maximum allowed by law in nearly every district.  So no monies used to pay a bond can not be used for salaries. In regards to those who say get rid of those with 25+ years nearly every head coach around here has close to that if not more. So are those folks wanting the hc/ad fired as well?  Lots of misinformation out there.  The best one is the 1:1 ratio and how in the 70s it was a 5:1 teacher to nonclassroom personnel.  The state did not even keep record of those extra folks until the 80s. The ratios have been consistent for many years.
2. Stadiums and new schools are bonds not the root or cause to the crisis.  If you want some incite check this site out www.texasisd.com. The financial situation is based on a 2006 property tax rollback followed by a then new business tax that did not meet projections and backfill the property tax cuts.  Strayhorn predicted and warned Perry in 06 that there would be a 26 billion shortfall and she was right.  This is not on the back of school districts but rather Perry and the legislature.  My prediction is a special session and further tapping of the rainy day thus allowing the newly elected legislators an opportunity to save face.
3. No more than 1200 tix will be sold.  Remember the district has boys and girls games at same location this year.  Doors will be locked once sold.
4.
Kountze shouldnt loose untill the playoffs, if they even loose then... Kountze also hasnt lost a home district game in over 9 years! And I see Silsbee keeping there winning streak after this friday:)
Didn't EC beat them about a year or so back and end the streak?
5. I visited with WV's qb coach most of the night at the Navasota game.  He told me he'd love to be able to redshirt JJ to "thicken" him up but he'd probably get a shot next year.  They currently have just one freshman ahead of JJ.  JJ is the only Texas recruit and would be only Texas player on the team according to him.
6. As cool as it was to see all of the fishermen and actually fish there, it is causing bad erosion.  Well before Ike you could see the currents etc on the satellite pictures and see the beach sediment going into the bay area.  Nobody can deny the beaches were larger 25-30 years ago.
7.

What about the Woodlands for the Silsbee game.
if it rains silsbee fans wont show up.
That's ok.  I'm sure more Silsbee fans will show for the Tiger's game than WOS's fans will for theirs.
8. Maybe Iknow could have made a few more catches from JJ last year in Huntsville?
9. Pretty weak on the part of that board member if he did indeed do this. Way to set an example to the kids he helps create policy for.
10. The trainer was tabbed AD when Sutherland left and he had all of 3-4 years total experience in the classroom. He had never even coached. They lost a lot of good coaches and all around good people that year.
11. Awww....and I even get a gratuitous smite for my last comment...nice. No offense to the teams BC has beaten but they are not on the same level as a Newton, Jasper, or WOS. It may feel good in preseason pounding on weaker teams but at some point reality has to set in. Until proven otherwise BC has to be considered a major underdog. 27-7
12. lol...you do that because we all know what perennial powerhouses BC has beaten this year.
13. Kerry, it's comments like that which make you look like a complete idiot. I am really believing that to be the case for real now. Are you going to force me to comment on Silsbee's misfortunes tonight? Tigers should have won this game 21-0 at the least. Mud game anyone wins, ask North Shore. Tongue You just can't handle that was the truth with the WR dropped that wide open pass for the go ahead and winning TD. Congrats Silsbee. SHENANIGANS!!
14. What? Are we to start talking what ifs? If the ball wouldn't have been missnapped WOS wouldn't have gotten the block nor scored. We can what if as well.
15. The score was closer than the actual game. There can be no excuses as both teams run a spread, have speed, and played on a muddy field. Both teams had turnovers and were slipping. If anything Silsbee's miscues (blocked punt for WOS score)actually allowed WOS to get some "freebie" points otherwise they wouldn't have gotten on the board. WOS's desperation drive under 2 minutes will inflate their offensive stats. Did WOS even have 100 yards of offense?
16. In a veer offense you have to have a solid o-line and a qb who can take the hits.
17. All I can say to Jasper is Merry Christamas and can we have our silver platter back now?
18. You can close your eyes and imagine you're wherever you want. Tiger90, for a minute there I thought you were going to tell Kerry to click his shoes together twice to send him back to Kansas. I actually had a statement about only needing a pair of ruby slippers but deleted it before I posted.
19. You can close your eyes and imagine you're wherever you want.
20. Loser sports the other's t-shirt and has their face painted in full school colors at next game. Coop could look classy in his maroon t-shirt with half his face white and the other maroon.
21. Let's get back to topic.....no bashing of coaches allowed.
22. Silsbee's young line has to gel at some point. It is extremely porous right now. JJ has little to no time. His sheer athletic ability is all that is keeping Silsbee in these games. There is no reason to be around the 15 yard line with 3rd and 1 and no be able to get the 1st on 2 tries. The wrs are dropping some passing that are hitting their numbers and hands. Lumberton did what they needed to do to win however I can't say Lumberton is in the top of their district if last night's performance was their norm.
