A guy I work with has season tix. He was telling me with the promotions that have been going on lately the attendance is up.

Seriously, what kind of idiots are running Jefferson County? Considering how cash strapped the county always claims how can they even turn down this statement A few weeks back the county was talking with BISD about tearing down the amphitheater now it looks like the county is kicking its only tenant out. Griffith may have lost his position as county judge due to Ford Park, but it is there now. It has to be supported and paid for. Even if it is torn down and buried the bill is still there.

No high school coach is getting this position and anyone who thinks that is not fully comprehending the entire situation. Lamar is relying on some big time donations from the area. Those donors would not pour millions into this and agree for a half-hearted attempt to start a new program. An inexperienced hs coach won't cut it no matter how successful they were on a Friday night. The ten days should instantly tell folks a lot has already occured behind the scenes. On another note, will Barry still run the 'bone?

Honestly, does anyone actually keep up with any other tournament than the NCAA? It is great to hear post-season etc, but lets be real here. The NIT, which is bigger than this CBI or whatever it is called, only gets a small blog at the end of an ESPN Sportcenter. I don't mean to be "Debbie Downer" but it is 3-0 with an NCAA invite or nothing really.

So what is it....from "what you hear" or "or like you see it". Were you even at the game? I was in Austin I believe it was '02 when a truly more talented team beat Sutherland's then Kounze Lions. It was late in the game with Gainsville having a solid double digit lead when Sutherland put in some sophomores and freshmen to get some "time". Of course they looked great against the Gainsville bench players. Then all of a sudden folks in the stands started bashing Sutherland for not knowing he should have been playing those kids. They were "better" than the starters. Nothing like the "real" coaches in the stands. Let's hear what "mustard" you were and could cut.

Trolls always come out from under the bridge when adversity occurs. Sutherland is absolutely the best coach in the area. On game days whether it is basketball, football, or whatever, the kids have to play to the level they are capable. Every team has an off game and an on game. Yesterday was Silsbee's day much like last year it was HJ's. To question a coach based strictly on one loss is idiotic. I tell you what, how about the original poster place their resume' on the board. I guarantee it pales in comparison. I would surmise the original poster doesn't even have the qualifications to even be a coach. Lose gracefully, your team will see success in the future.

This is why I asked about proper dates. I have not heard any excuses from HJ. I actually appreciate the positive responses from HJ today. We need to enjoy them while we can because after next week the trash talk begins for next season.

You're checking the dates of these posts correct? Seems like most of the HJ posts are of a supportive nature for the Tigers after today.

this seriously might be the dumbest thing ive ever heard silsbee beat OF by 1 point i watched chaped hill play four games and in no way or form is silsbee even close to dreaming about being on their level go watch a game or something cause your words dont match the facts The fact is Silsbee beat HJ and Silsbee is better Jeez.....show some class. It is great as a Silsbee fan, but give HJ some props. They pulled for the Tigers to be in the regional finals at least show some respect in their loss.

Just got off the phone with coach, he said he will get the call at 8:30 in the morning on who his opponent will be. The bus ride home is quiet as the kids are exhausted from the past two games. It has been 25 years since Silsbee last went to Austin.

This past weekend was my first game. It was better than I expected and was actually planning on going again. I guess I jinxed it. :-\

Last night was the 1st time I have ever been to a hockey game. We were in the 2nd row by the glass. My wife definitely enjoyed the smacking of the glass. My cousin had a puck land in his lap.

This is true. There is a very good reason why Coach Brooks ( assistant ) has been doing alot of the " coaching " during games of late and not Travis. I too will not post the reason here on this messageboard, but rest assure, Travis Williams is the head coach. I spoke with him today and he is looking forward to tonight.

No HS coach in this area has the ability to get the program started. This can't be just a local thing. While it will be great to grab some local talent it has to be able to get those special players located in the Houstons and DFWs as well. HS coaches unless it is a Todd Dodge are only viewed great by their local/communities. No disrespect to any local coaches but no recruit in DFW has ever heard of say a Coach Barber, but if you want to talk Jasper and Newton counties then it is a different story.

Honestly, I don't see a problem with the scoreboard. I have not been there in a while so I can't comment on the sound system and accoustics.

Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer is helping in the search. Heard that as well. I can't see some of the big name donors wanting to just pour millions into something that doesn't create any buzz.

If they can get a "name" (retread, past prime)to help get this program started I'll say $450k. The splash of a "name" would be all over the sports news sites. Recruits are attracted to names. I believe Tubbs has some good connections willing to help out for a year or two probably better than a South Alabama.

Hopefully we'll see round 4 in a couple weeks.
