Silsbee held an off season play day this past Saturday. Teams participating were Silsbee, PN-G, Vidor, Buna, Orangefield, Rayne, La. and Jennings, La. Silsbee went 4-0 defeating Orangefield, Rayne. La., Jennings. La. and Vidor. Silsbee beat Orangefield 58-36, Vidor 70-53, Rayne 82-50 and Jennings 86-48. Orangefield went 1-2, losing to Silsbee and PN-G, beating Jennings. Vidor went 2-1, losing to Silsbee, beating PN-G and Rayne. PN-G went 2-1, losing to Vidor, beating Buna and Orangefield. Buna went 1-2, losing to PN-G and Rayne, beating Jennings.

Silsbee lost a bunch on both sides of the ball. I don't see them beating those top 3. WO-S returns a good bit. I think this 3rd year under H will be a good one.

That's part of my question too. Not just the boys sports but the girls sports have went way down as well. Jasper girls basketball and softball were much better a few years ago.

I really don't like it. Just wait till next realignment and align all the districts by division and not do it after district play is over. That way there are same amount of playoff games as they are now. Splitting after district is over eliminates a couple of rounds of playoffs and really doesn't give a true indicator of state champion. It also eliminates regional tourneys and semifinals at state tourney. Just wait till next realignment.

Are we talking Minor league baseball and D League basketball too?

2009 regional semifinal Very bad loss for Silsbee. Tigers beat Jasper earlier that year by 40. BTW, that 2009 win was the last time Jasper beat Silsbee in basketball and one of only 5 wins in the all time series.

Well, I have. Also, a Jasper alum has made comments on this thread stating he is not happy with what's going on. But you are right, all that matters is if the Jasper folks are content.

That could be true. I honestly just wanted to know what happened. I also don't agree with saying the Jasper athletic program is better just because the football team had a good season and went one round further than those other teams the last 10 years. That doesn't necessarily equate to things being better overall. IMO

The question was about the other sports at Jasper. Nobody is questioning Crum and what he is doing with football and recruiting. The question is why is the other 5 sports (volleyball, boys/girls basketball, baseball and softball) all of sudden gone to crap? Those sports were not this bad as a whole in the last several years. What has happened?

He thinks he is the only smart person on this site. Or at least the only one that knows better. All because he is an assistant football coach at a local school. He knows all.

Thought the discussion was playing high school sports, not next level. My comment was about high school 2 sport stars which you said doesn't exist anymore. I disagree.

I can name several 2 sport stars just this past season. All with scholarship offers in both sports. Now one may be a bigger star in one sport over the other but they still remain stars in both sports. 2 sports stars still exist.

On a walk off. 1-0 Silsbee the only team in the district to win a playoff game/series in football, basketball and baseball.

But according to some (one), that's not important in the grand scheme of the overall athletic program. Just ask @89Falcon

Game was canceled last night. Game 1 is at WO-S tonight. 7pm Game 2 and 3 will be at Anahuac tomorrow. Game 2 is at 5pm and Game 3 if necessary will be 30 minutes after Game 2.

I know a few local ISD's that have had the same AD for several years now and their football team is not the best sport in their school. Some would say they are less than mediocre.

The thread question is about their overall athletic program. Not just football. If? You talk as they will. Things are so much better.
