We beat them by 11. Silsbee and Cleveland split both games last Saturday. Silsbee gets the nod because of the point spread. ;D ;D

According to what I was told at the Silsbee Summer Tournament, Franks will be at Ozen this coming year. That info came from several folks at Ozen, including Saveat and Franks himself.

District title will come down to who wins the Silsbee-WOS game. Silsbee has very good chance of beating the Mustangs, but I am predicting a WOS victory by 6, 20-14. I have Bridge City making the playoffs this year as the 3rd place representative. They will defeat HJ in a very close game. Actually this could go either way but I believe it's time for Stump to do something there at BC. Orangefield and Hamshire-Fannett will have a tough year this year. Of the two, I would say that Orangefield has more positives than negatives. HF lost way too much, I am afraid they are in for a very hard time this coming season.

Brey coming back does make quite a bit of difference. He will help keep Roman outside. But if he comes with that attitude that he has displayed recently, then it might be detrimental to the Kountze cause. Even so, having Brey back would change alot of things as far as Kountze's stature in Region III.

Yes it is Grad. We did do a couple of their games last year after the BISD game of the week didn't work out to well. We have Vidor sponsors on board so that made the decision pretty easy. We still may work out the same deal from last year with Nederland and PNG and put the link to their games here on the site which would give us 7 games total on a Friday night.

Here at SETXsports we will have Silsbee, Vidor, Kirbyville, Newton and Lumberton. KLVI will still have Nederland football and 92.5 FM will still carry PNG. KOGT will do Orange county games (mostly WOS probably).

Which one was Carrington? When I saw them last year they were mostly all sophmores and one jr...... Carrington was a sophmore also but has moved to Atascasita. He was the other post player, had his hair in braids. He was to be Cleveland's starting quarterback too. Cleveland's coach told me he moved to Atascasita to get more exposure.

If we are just basing this on high school performance, then for Silsbee you would have to start with William Morrisey, Willie Ray Smith award winner and first team all state defensive tackle. He was a man among boys. Also Britt Lively, Ahmad Jones, Daniel Paulus, and Josh Skinner of recent years were some good ones. Going back a few decades you would have to mention Hiawatha Hickman. Even further back in years would be Craig McGallion, Gerald Skinner and Charles Powell.

Stroud only managed an even par round of 70 today to fall back to a tie for 42nd at -4 276. He had 4 birdies along with 4 bogeys.

Final results for our local players at the 39th Texas State Open: Dawie Van der Walt -4 66, -7 273, T10 $2,586 Andrew Landry E 70, -7 273, T10 $2,586 Shawn Stefani E 70, -6 273, T15 $1,720 Stefani had 1 eagle and 20 birdies in this tourney but just couldn't stay away from the big numbers.

Just simply based on last year and what I saw at the Silsbee summer tourney, I think Silsbee has the better team over Cleveland particularly now that Cleveland lost Carrington, but just barely. Even though Cleveland did beat Silsbee in the finals by 2 (Silsbee beat Cleveland earlier that day by 11) I think Silsbee has the better overall squad. It really showed in the second half of the championship game when Silsbee finally decided to start playing. I personally spoke with the Cleveland varsity coach and he told me that was his team for the following season that was on the floor during the tourney. They will be good, but I believe that Silsbee is just as good if not better. Now, does that make either one of these teams the best in Region 3? That remains to be seen. I would classify them as 1a and 1b for now.

Watson literally whiffed that putt to win on 18. I got sick. Watson has to at least make birdie on 17, or this is over. Bad tee shot on 17 for Tom! COME ON TOM!!!!!!!!

They should do well. If Roman can stay outside and not have to be moved inside, that will help them tremendously. McDaniel may have to help at the point until the freshman can get the confidence. Kountze's lack of size (Roman being their biggest player) may hurt them. And when I say lack of size, I don't mean just the post players. Kountze has several guards that look no taller than '5'6 and weigh no more than 125lb. They do have alot of quickness.
