Silsbee summer tourney next weekend, who's in it
AggiesAreWe replied to court side's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ozen, Central, Yates, Hightower, Memorial, Strake Jesuit, Huntsville, Wheatley, and Chavez all were invited to this summer tourney but declined saying they couldn't afford to lose to any 3A or 2A schools. ;D -
Chris Stroud shoots a final round -2 69 to finish at -13 271 and a tie for 15th.
-
Sounds like this Sanchez guy knows how to bet better than he knows how to play! : 8) ;D ;D Well I did have rounds of 76,77 and a nine hole score of 37. I think I can play just as good as I can bet. But, you know me, I'll take the money. ;D I am the one on the course shouting. "Hey Schmells, thousand bucks you miss that putt!" ;D

After the third round was completed at the John Deere Classic, Chris Stroud sits T10 after his third round 67, putting him at -11, 202 total. He is playing the final round at this time, -1 thru 8 holes. On the Nationwide Tour Michael Arnuad had a dissappointing weekend to say the least. After shooting rounds of 67-69, T16, he shot rounds of 74-78 to fall to a 66th place finish at 288, +3.

No walks. They are on a pitch count. There are also no steals. The catcher has the option of squatting or standing as I remember it. If he squats and gives a target to the opposing coach to throw at then the coach is more likely to be able to throw better pitches for his team to hit. If he doesn't have a target which is an option then it's harder for most men to throw where they are trying to throw. I see. So we are just throwing out teaching the fundamentals of catching just to win. What is this league for, BTW? That's typical from someone that's not involved. Catching drills are done at practice. There isn't a need for them in the game. Nothing is gained by having a kid block a ball in the game. The next level is when the kids start needing to block balls. Pinto for me was more about teaching hitting, running bases, fielding and throwing. It would be like teaching the kid to pitch when he doesn't pitch in the game. Should they work on pitching a little, sure when they have time but since it's not needed until the next year why not concentrate on what they need to learn this year? I understand. Thanks for the enlightment.

No walks if that were the case the pitcher would just walk in 5 runs every inning and no one would win. Runners cannot advance unless the ball is hit. Thanks for clearing that up. I am still a bit confused as to why the catcher was instructed to not show a target. How is that strategy?
-
I am a little lost here. I am assuming this is coach pitch therefore why an Orange pitcher is pitching to Orange batters. What I do not understand is why the TC catcher was instructed to not show a target. How is that strategy? Are there not any walks in coach pitch? If the catcher isn't prepared to catch the ball, isn't he running the risk of letting runners advance and eventually score? Someone please enlighten me.

On the PGA Tour: John Deere Classic Groves' Chris Stroud shot a first round -4 67, T10. He had 6 birdies with 2 bogeys on his round. Nationwide Tour: Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic Orange's Michael Arnaud shot a -5 67 in today's first round. He had 6 birdies and 1 bogey to put himself T7. Adams Tour: Adams Golf Texarkana Classic Former Lamar golfers Dawie Van der Walt, Oliver Bekker, and Dusty Smith are tied for 32nd after two rounds of play at 143. Dawie's scores are 73-70, Oliver 72-71, and Dusty's 73-70. All made the cut for the last two rounds. Silsbee CC Tour Mike Sanchez shot a 74 today with 4 birdies to capture 3 total skins and collect $120 in skin money. There was a total of 6 skins, each worth $40. ;D

Fine then. But say HJ KLAN, not Southeast Texas Haters. :
-
There you go with lumping Southeast Texas. I am from Southeast Texas and still live here obviously. You haven't seen comments from me hating on Perkins.
-
That's subject to opinion.
-
I never said that HJ would fare better than Ozen did against Dallas Lincoln. I just said it's speculation at best saying they would lose by 60. Again, why bring Silsbee into this conversation?
-
When did Silsbee enter this equation? You are correct, Silsbee lost to Ozen both times that year in district. That's why I didn't bother to bring them up. But the fact remains, you are talking strictly SPECULATION, the rest of us are talking FACTS!!!
-
BTW, you can only back FACTS, not speculation.
-
Making those kind of comparisons is assinine. Just because Dallas Lincoln beat Ozen by 20, does not mean they would beat HJ by 60. But, even if so, it doesn't matter to the FACT that Ozen got whooped by Lincoln. It's only speculation between Lincoln and HJ, not FACT.

Nederland vs. WOS Week 0 Prediction?
AggiesAreWe replied to smitty's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't think we will be favored by 21 over Silsbee. I agree, td. I say the Stangs will be favored over the Tigers by 6 to 10 points, but that's all. -
DickyV hasn't been at Ozen in several years. He is coaching at a private school in Houston starting this year.
