You have to go out and try to force a turnover, a bad shot, etc. Worst case is Ned. scores or shoots free throws. You still have plenty of time to score yourself. Letting Ned. get the last shot was plain STUPID!!!!
If the PNG coach was "smart enough" to have a considerable underdog "in the game" in the last minute/seconds, would it stand to reason he is smart enough to handle the closing seconds of the same game?
If the Nederland coach wants to run out the clock and take the last shot and the PNG coach wants Nederland to keep it  to the last shot, would it stand to reason that one of them could be wrong?
From my perspective. it stands to reason that those who coach for a living are likely to have better insight on what needs to be done than the fans do.  I can tell you, after watching highlight films, about every pass that should have not been thrown in the football game.  But, then again, I did not have several three hundred pound linemen charging at me while making my decisions which were not made after the fact.   I am also confident that we, as spectators, do not know all of the ingredients than went into the decision the coach made.  Furthermore, I maintain the coach apparently made many good decisions or the underdog would not have been in a postion to win the game.  If that is the  case, it would seem that second guessing only the last minute decision is slightly unfair.
AMEN!!! Good post, nash.

Vidor won 19 of the first 20 games this season, but has since gone 1-5.

And on a side note, Silsbee's two losses have come to 4A schools. To then #17 Ozen and to then #1 Galveston Ball. ;)
So....Nederland beat Ozen, Ozen beat Silsbee, yet Silsbee is #1 in the area and Nederland is #2????? I'm just sayin'....
Well, Silsbee beat West Brook twice, and West Brook beat Nederland at Nederand. I'm just sayin".... ;)
 5.
I believe Able did what was best for that group of kids in that particular situation. I have a son who has played on PNG's varsity team for three years and I have seen every game in that time frame. We never have nor will we ever be the most athletic team on the court. We win through pace of play and solid defense. We can score when we have to in most situations however our strong suit is half court defense. Able's strategy last night worked. There was a wrench thrown in when nobody blocked out Kelvin. Had we made it to OT who knows what would've happened. I do know this though. All the PNG haters on this board (soulja, aaw, joey, lazeek and others) are going to puke all over themselves at the end of this basketball season when the Tribe takes a playoff spot!
WOW!! Never knew I was a PNG hater. Learn something new every day. BTW, Joey is a PNG grad. ;)
 6. I have spoken to a few of our area coaches since last night. I asked them about this scenario. They all to a man agreed with how Coach Able played that last minute. He probably felt his team was outmanned and wanted to keep it to one possession and take is chances. It turned out he did play it right in that they forced a 3 ball which was missed. Unfortunately, nobody boxed out the backside (which happens on a corner 3). If he forces the issue, probably more bad things happen for PNG than good. Nederland is the better team and he needed to keep their scoring to a minimum by giving them only a few seconds to get 1 shot off and not have multiple chances of winning the game late. Who knows how overtime would have went, but Coach Able played it right.
 7. Based on the info I have received in the last 2 days, consider this a done deal. LU will be a member of the WAC. They will get the invite and will accept. Was told we could get an announcement of this very soon.
At 6'4 he must have been around 250 to play power forward.  A charles barkley type.  Didnt say it wasnt possible, just said it is not likely for him to play anything other than a 1 or 2.
DC will not be a point guard at the next level. But I have watched plenty of college basketball in my lifetime. I have seen plenty of point guards at the next level who are shorter than '6"3. Lamar is a DI (mid major), their point guards and for that matter some of their 2 guards, have all been shorter than '6"4. Seen other schools with the same makeup, all DI's. SLC is DI btw. ;) DC will play at the next level. What position will be determined by what that particular coach is recruiting him to play.
 10. Ashly was sent home early this morning. Looks as though she suffered a concussion. Praying for a full recovery. Get well soon Ashly.

 12.
why were the two 22-2A games postponed?
Power outage.

McNeese seems to be the front runner, but that was a while back when I was told of that.
I believe even our local SLC school has now expressed interest.
Yes indeed. But with Roc possibly on his way out, who knows how that will transpire.
 14. This was a game that LCM could have used to help solidify a playoff spot. Still lot's of basketball to play, but this game along with losing to Lumberton this past Tuesday, may spell doom for LCM.
 15.
Thot they'd play eachother for a tiebreaker?
Not if those two teams are the ones that are tied. When you have two teams tied, you go to head-to-head first. Spurger has that tiebreaker with the two wins over Burkeville. Now if it is a three way tie, that's a whole other issue.
 16.
go get a light grey shirt or a black and white striped shirt and join
;) ;D
 17. But if Spurger and Burkeville end up tied, Spurger gets the tiebreaker due to them beating Burkeville both times.
 18. Good win for Spurger. This puts Burkeville behind the 8 ball. They may have to win out to get a playoff spot.

 21. Just checked one of the programs, Darious Mitchell was #3. He is a senior. Kerry, I thought you knew everything about Mustang football?
 22.
Yep #3 will be back!!!
Wasn't #3 Mitchell, who is a senior?
 23. Not surprised at all. I had EC winning this one at home. The Bucs could have won the game at Kountze as well. I guess that tire pulling paid off tonight. ;) ;D
