This came straight from the UIL website in regards to the rule changes: Section 1230 BASKETBALL PLAN (c) NUMBER OF GAMES, TOURNAMENTS AND SITES. (3) Total Number of Games. [b]No team or student shall compete in more than TWO invitational tournaments plus 21 basketball games in a season, including all games prior to the first playoff game.[/b] This shall include non-district and district games and games played in pre-scheduled district tournaments. If the district champions have a bye for the first round of the play-offs, those schools may schedule a warm-up game in addition to the game limits. This additional game shall be played on a non-school night with no loss of school time. (6) Substituting Games for Tournaments. Two games may be substituted in place of a tournament. Call me old school, but I would rather see it go back to just the district champion making the playoffs than have a situation where 4 of 5 teams in a district will qualify for playoffs. Heck, there are a couple of district where all 4 teams will advance. You could actually have an 0-10 team make the playoffs!!! Since the UIL has made their decision to have 4 teams, then they should make every district at minimum 7-8 team districts. Also, to give some incentive on winning district games and winning district championships, they should allow the #1 seeds in DI and DII from each district host their 1st round games.

There will be a season opener classic held at the Campbell Center in Houston on Monday, Nov. 12. This is the schedule of games to be played: 2:30  HCYA vs RCHA 4pm  Kingwood vs Aldine Nimitz 5:30  5A #19 The Woodlands vs 5A #6 Spring Westfield 7pm  5A #12 North Shore vs Spring DeKaney 8:30  3A #1 Yates vs Private #4 Westbury Christian Tickets at the door will be $8 and $10.
