1.
How many did Weisbrod have?  There was an earlier conversation in another thread where the Central contingent felt they would contain Weisbrod and I disputed that.
Weisbrod finished with 13 points. 26% of Nederland's points. Pretty good Nash. ;)
 2. Final Central  JV      60 Nederland JV    48 Central going for the sweep!!
 3. Halftime Central JV      27 Nederland JV  26
 4. Final Central 9th        58    Nederland 9th    38 Impressed with the Central freshmen team. Very solid particularly since their 4 best players are on varsity, which two of them start. ;)
 5.

really im sorry im not trying to be a jackass, HJ is a joke.... i mean i thought they were trying to show everyone they are a powerhouse but yall are not playing anyone worth a dang, who have they played that shows they are as good as they claim to be. i just cant wait for friday when silsbee whipes the floor with them :)
OF course you are trying to be a jackass and you have succeeded.  Kingwood Park recently beat ranked  5A team Humble.  Care to guess who HJ beat in their own tourney?  Jacksonville beat then #1 ranked 3-a Mexia by 24.  Care to guess who beat Jacksonville just before Christmas break?  If they are not playing anyone worth a dang, you have just declared Beaumont Central and Nederland as not worth a dang.
Uh, Humble is 4A, but he should see your point. ;) And Mexia doesn't look to be the team we all thought they were going to be.
 6.
I didnt realize the Sherman Tourney had multiple brackets.  If I am understanding you correctly, Pleasant Grove played in the 3-a bracket while Silsbee played in the 5a-4a bracket?
Yes, that is correct. Sherman ISD had four tourney's in one. A 5A-4A boys and girls and a 3A-1A boys and girls. 32 teams, 8 in each bracket. Silsbee asked to play in the 5A-4A bracket. Silsbee was the only 3A team in that bracket (others were 5A or 4A). The 3A-1A bracket had 3A's Pleasant Grove, Pittsburg, and Van Alystine along with other 2A and 1A teams.
 7.
I think Pleasant Grove is undefeated as well
I have seen Pleasant Grove play 3 times (Sherman Tourney, 3A-1A bracket), not that impressed with them. IMO, HJ and Silsbee would handle them fairly easy. There were folks at the Sherman tourney who stated the same after finding out that Silsbee was actually a 3A team (even though they played in the 5A-4A bracket). Pleasant Grove is okay, but not on HJ, LaVega, Sealy, Silsbee or even Navasota's level.
 8. Also: Lamar's Mike James Earns Third Player of the Week Award this Season Lamar guard Mike James was named the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It is the third time he has earned the honor in the last four weeks. James averaged 26.0 points in helping the Cardinals go undefeated in the opening weekend for Southland Conference action. He scored a season-high 31 points, including four three pointers, in Lamar's 74-58 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Wednesday. The senior from Portland, Ore., also tallied 21 points in a 103-67 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday, raising his scoring average to a team-leading 16.3 points per game. In the two games, James made 19 of his 29 shots from the floor, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range. He also made 8 of 9 free throws and added seven steals and five assists.
 9. [Hidden Content] Lamar, UT Arlington Receiving Votes in Mid-Major Top 25 Lamar and UT Arlington are receiving votes in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. Lamar, which is 11-5 after wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Central Arkansas, received 37 points and sits just three spots out of this week's top-25 poll. UT Arlington, which is 9-5, is tied for the best record in the West Division following wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls State. The Mavericks received 11 points this week.
 10. Posted at the top of the forum in a sticky. Locals in the polls this week: 3A #1 Hardin-Jefferson #7 Silsbee #19 Coldspring 2A #25 Kountze 1A DI #12 Big Sandy TAPPS small school #12 Beaumont Legacy Christian
 11. I saw Hondo Webb play at last years state tourney (2A Melissa). Good player, great floor presence, excellent passer, but not quick. Webb is a different type of player (PG) than what Lamar has had in the past.
 12. Final Pasadena Memorial    56 Baytown Sterling        46
 13. Final Orangefield    57 Tarkington    48
 14.
I don't think it matters very much who is better individually since this is a contest pitting one unit against another.  If the individual stuff mattered that much, Dallas wouldnt have beaten Miami last year for the NBA championship.  On a side note though, if the contest were to be some type of one on one competition with height not mattering, I would put my money on Devonte Johnson.  He shoots the three as well as anybody HJ has had,( in most instances) can jump quite well for his height and if he wants to go to the basket, he will definitely get there.
I agree with what I put in bold. Do not know enough about said player to comment on that part.
 15.

I have seen both teams multiple times(Central 8 times, Nederland 9 times) including the Central win over Nederland in Nederland. I believe that Nederland has the better coaching staff but Central has the better team. My prediction: Central      61 Nederland  58
Now, what difference does it make as to who is the better coach if you're picking Central to win? ::)
Personally, I think if Nederland wins this game it will be because of their better coaching staff.
 16.

I vote for way better.
HJ has 3 players that's better then Silsbee's best!!
Disagree. Prudhomme is the best by far, but Elam and Holmes are as good as Bosha and Johnson and I think Gaines is right there with them too.
 17.
I know have seen both teams play.  In close games HJ will play 8-9 people.  I only saw Silsbee play 7 people in the game against Evadale until the final minute of each quarter.  Both teams very well coached, and each team has star players.
Silsbee is 8-9 deep. Starters: Gaines, Wilson, Elam, Holmes and Dobbins Key players off bench: Jackson, Reed, Brydson and Barnes Remember, Elam did not start or play the first half against Evadale. I have seen enough of Silsbee games to claim they play 8-9 on a regular basis, including close games.
