The Orangefield Bobcats will travel over to Silsbee to take on the Tigers at the Tiger Diamond in both teams 21-3A district opener, TONIGHT at 7pm. Orangefield (2-8) last played on March 17th and was beaten by Beaumont Kelly 9-3. Silsbee (10-4) #6 this week in the SETX polls, also last last played on March 17th and got a win over Danbury, 3-1. Jasper's success in baseball, basketball and track this season has nothing to do with Morgan being AD. The basketball team (along with the football team) benefited from being in a very weak district. The baseball team has been successful for many years.

The board is meeting behind close doors on this matter but has scheduled a meeting for the public to attend and discuss on April 16. The word is that Morgan will finish out the school year but the board has to look into the fact of Morgan breaking contract.

[/quote] I think it is pretty clear. 7am is considered "before school". You are not allowed to have before or after school workouts in the off season. What would be the difference if athletics was the last period of the day and they held them over 30-45 minutes to "feed" them? That's against the rules.

[/quote] Again after looking over the school website..every coach is listed in an educational department, so who isn't teaching besides the head coach? [/quote] According to my sources, neither coordinator was teaching. The offensive co. is Morgan's brother and he was told he would have to start teaching next school year. Neither liked it so they are leaving.

It just amazes me that there are coaches in a 3A school that are not teaching in the classroom, even PE. Other than the AD, all others, including the coordinators, should have some classroom responsibilities. Cannot blame Jasper ISD for having to make these changes.
