  1. Congratulations to the WOS Mustangs on a great year and a great run. I would love for my football team to make just one state championship...you've been to four in a row. Unfortunately, I think the Mustangs just ran into a better team tonight. Pleasant Grove impressed me with how hard they played on both sides of the ball. Great game!!!

Which local district schools start at over 50K? For just teachers?

Like all jobs in the US, salaries are dictated by demand. We need more welders than we do teachers right now hence welders start at $75K per year, teachers start around $30K in most districts. Most of today's generation believes I need to start out as the boss and I need to start at a huge salary...sorry, life doesn't work that way. Teachers get a lot of benefits other people don't and again, they are REPRESENTED jobs (union). Don't know too many educators who are on the poverty or even lower income list. You want to make a high wage salary you need to get into a high wage industry. Or, move to a communist nation where everyone is poor.

PG is a better version of Kennedale because they throw the ball better that Kennedale does.

PG is well coached, but they do not have the staff that Coach Thompson does.

    Both teams have great defenses.

    WOS has the experience factor.

This very well could be the best game of all the State Championship contest. Can't wait to see this one.

Pleasant Grove is not a better version of Kennedale; Kennedale and WOS went to overtime to decide their game and both are in the big dance. I got WOS by 14 points in this one. Personally, I think Madisonville would beat Pleasant Grove; having a big O-line ain't all that. Having a physically fit O-line is.

Never once said abolish football.  Said as long as teachers can't get paid this much then no one should.  With that being said, I would support the legislature capping what high school head coaches make.  It's only fair for the teachers!

This will never be the answer. Teaching like coaching should be performance based but teacher unions dictate their wages and benefits. Head football coaches are usually the ADs and considered administration. Assistant coaches (who also teach) wages are more in line with teacher pay. So, teachers can make more money if they do more than teach; i.e. coach, teach music, tutor, drive buses, etc., etc. It's just like any other JOB in the USA. My daughter has raised her salary by doing these things, continuing her education and moving up in the food chain. That's how it works.

Crazy they have only had a football team for like 5 years and about too possibly win their 2nd title. Basketball program is unreal to. Lots of nice athletes in that town I guess. I'm sure some really good coaching to go with it.

I drove through Brock a couple of years back. There is not a red light in that town. Nice bedroom community of western Fort Worth. Love to run the wishbone.

What he’s got is scoreboard.  Nice season Salado.  The Mustangs might not be world beaters but they’ve beat 38 in a row who have lined up across from them.  Very few schools in the country can say that.  Certainly none that start with Salad and end with -o-.

Best game of the year was the Kennedale game and look which team is in the state semifinals for 4A D1? Kennedale. WOS is a solid football team.

State Championship should be pretty interesting either way this year. I'm picking the Hawks to beat Graham, and I'm really unsure about this game. WO-S has the pedigree, but man they've been letting some teams hang around for the past few weeks. Hope they don't let the wrong one hang around.

Wimberly beat a perennial powerhouse in Cuero. This will be their toughest test this year...WOS has to play FLAWLESS football and minimize the Wimberly offense's time on the field. Gonna be a good one and I will be at this one!! GO STANGS!

  8. Got a message from a good friend who is a HUGE PAM fan I sat with at the game about what was going on in this thread. Been too busy to be around the board much this year but I hate seeing this. What happened is what happened for whatever reason it happened. I have exactly zero belief it was racially motivated....probably more gamesmanship. Personally, I think Xbox was going to pull out all stops after the embarassment from 2016. This discussion should have taken place during the PAM / Vidor thread (the game we didn't show up for). Our past is our past and it should stay there, IN THE PAST. Or maybe everyone here can explain it to the black children on our team (of which the number is growing exponentially). I doubt we'll ever see PAM in a football game again unless we do it in the pre-district play. We're down to 1280 kids and I predict 4A within four years. For my part, I spent $10 to watch the Temple game on Texan Live and it was worth every penny. I do want to know where the safety help was for the cornerback with 52 seconds left in the game. Seriously? Extremely proud of how the Titans represented SETX and congratulations on a great season.
