My ever wise grandson just noticed the Mineola Yellow Jackets are wearing orange and has a real problem with it. Runs in the family.

A little history about Yoakum...last time to the state championship game was 1952. The Bulldogs finished second in district with a regular season record of 6 - 4. They wound up beating arch rival Hallettsville (who won their district and had beaten them earlier) in the region championship to advance on to play later in this state championship. For those of you who believe only the district champ should advance. Sitting with my son in law...Yoakum grad.

I'm here for Yoakum v. Mineola unless someone else gonna update?

I thought Haylon Leckelt should have made the list but wasn't the leading rusher in the area. Jeff and co beating Ned in nederville for the 1st time in 35 years probably helped a little as well. Coach T was expected to do this...any less would be a tragedy. I would trade all the awards in the universe for one visit to Jerryworld where I'm at right now.

They might match up for a while but the difference in depth would catch up to them in the end.
For once, you and I agree bigdog. 11 vs. 11 I take WOS; oherwise, depth would kill them. Big schools would just keep rolling out the hogs and wear you down. Hard to play against nearly total senior teams.

I understand, but Calvin is in pretty much in the same position. It is just that he will hand them the binder of the FBS schools that offered him.
Remember, these are AP writers, not football experts, and while we are fortunate to have some pretty good minds in the area writing about football, anyone who looks at teams like this should remember that.
What do you expect from the Associated Depressed?

You all keep picking against Temple and they just keep winning. Don't let the record fool you...they've beat some good football teams.

West Orange Stark has proven to me that they are the best team I've seen all year. 11 vs. 11, no subs, etc. I honestly believe this team could play and beat anyone in the state. I thought Navarro would give y'all a game, I thought wrong. Great job and we'll see who has the best set of Mustangs Friday. See y'all at ATT with that little monster who is my avatar.

Were we to ever lose Jeff Mathews, Surratt would be who I would my #1 choice to go for. I love that guy!

From what losteraussie is saying looks like Sweetwater runs Auburn's offense...one I'm really fond of.

Gunter ran Auburn University's offense to perfection last night. A version I would like to see Vidor run. Mineola too much for Yoakum last night.
