The other day I repeated a claim that one of the officers and the victim had a lady friend in common and that the beating was a result of that… supposedly the cop texted a pic of the victim to the lady friend in real time. This seems like it might be partially corroborated by this recent update.

This is the hidden content, please

CB, I think there is more to this story. It seems very plausible to me

Funny thing is you post daily bout a dude who isn't in charge and doesn't give a damn bout you.... 2 + years later lol

    Comedy gold

The comedic gold is actually this........

Everytime a republican says anything about biden the first response is always TRUMP did this, said that......

That is occupying space in peoples brains

  3. Well, against my better judgement, I stayed up and watched the SOTU last night.

Between the outright lies and incoherent babbling I gave up an hour of sleep. I gotta give old Joe his due (or at least his speech writers). He stuck to the same old tired Dem talking points. Heck, 4 supreme court justices skipped it (one a democrat).

The bright spot on my loss of sleep was Sarah Huckabee Sanders response.

Ok, on to my coffee and getting going at work. Have a great hump day everyone.

Fired and arrested? Does that make this case different since the officer have been held accountable?

I will use Wikipedia to refresh my memory on the George Floyd death.

Floyd was killed on May 25, 2020.

    Wikipedia: George Perry Floyd Jr. (October 14, 1973 – May 25, 2020)

Officer Chauvin was fired on May 26, 2020 and arrested on May 29, 2020.

Wikipedia: He was dismissed by the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) on May 26 and arrested on May 29.

So before most people had ever heard of Floyd, the officer responsible had been terminated and with 3 days, arrested on May 29, 2020.

Chauvin was put on trial and convicted less than a year later.

So before a majority of people had heard of Floyd, the officer was terminated and with 3 more days, arrested. Protests then started and again according to Wikipedia, caused over one billion dollars in damages and continued for more than a year.

Tyre Nichols was brutally beaten on January 7 and died on January 10. The officer were not fired until 10 days later. It took another 6 to make arrests.

So let’s compare the cases. In Floyd the officer was fired the next day and arrested only four days after the incident. well, not comparing one wrong being more than another, in Floyd’s case the also leaned on his neck.

In the case of Nichols, several officers beat and kick the guy to death. It took about a week and a half before the chief got around to terminating them and another week before they were arrested.

So what took four days in the Floyd case, took almost 3 weeks in the Nicholas case.

If this is about not being held accountable, which case more clearly demonstrates that?

Of course this one has not played out yet but we there likely be a year and a half of protests and over a billion dollars in damages?

It seems clear to be selective outrage. I wonder what the differences are in the cases???

Ohhhhhh.....I know, I know. Pick me, pick me.

It's pretty easy if you back off and give it a good look.

    LOL

  5. From Cardinal Backer......

My solution? A set period of benefits like we have now… 24 months or so. Once it’s done, it’s only good for products like WIC provides, the old cheese and butter like they used to pass out, and MREs like we feed our troops. My guess is that you’d have a lot fewer people on the system. Heck, prove the liberals wrong. Only give them healthy alternatives. Fresh fruit and vegetables, no processed foods, no soft drinks.  My guess is that our spending in that area would shrink when they couldn’t shop like fourth graders turned loose at the grocery store with unlimited resources.

Isn't this how it was when I was younger? You could only get so many months of unemployment and other handouts?

When I was a younger man there was a stigma that came with being unemployed. Now it is a badge of courage.

I had a friend out of work that called asking for a job. I hooked him up with a job paying $35/hr. Much less than we had made in the past but a good paying job non the less. He took the job but told me......... "This job is beneath me and I need more money." My response was, no job is beneath you when you don't have a job.

Notwithstanding that I don’t like the idea of a same percentage flat tax….

I find it funny that “tax experts” warn about this plan.

    I will translate:

This plan, WHICH WOULD END “MY” CAREER…. is a bad deal! You people need to keep a system in place where it requires an expert (me) to even understand it and charge you big bucks.

Conflict of interest on an opinion?

This.......if you read most negative views on this it is from tax people. Heck yeah they won't like it because they will be obsolete.

I don't know enough about it to know if it is good or bad. I like the idea of having a choice on how much I pay in taxes. Example, when it is time to buy a vehicle do I get the loaded truck and pay a higher tax or do I choose a lesser truck and control what I send the government?

I know taxes are a necessary evil, my issue with taxation is the tax code. Eliminate the thousands of pages of write-offs and just do a simple tax. You make $100k you owe $15k. You make $10 million you owe $1.5 million. Simple.....every pays their fair share. People mad that Donald Trump paid less taxes than you or I should be mad at the tax code not the percentage. He is just taking advantage of the system. They all do it. Clintons, Rockefellers on and on.

I believe there should be a corporate tax for the companies. It should be fair. We want to encourage investment and growth but they should not get a free ride.

    Just my $0.02

  7. Baddog, I am with you on hoping we get to see the take down of the left but I have my doubts.

What I get tired of is the RINO's assisting in the plot. I think how this debt ceiling is handled will tell us how the next 2 years will go. At some point spending has to be addressed and stop kicking the can down the road.

I also love all of the whining and crying from the left when adam schiff is removed from a committee. Wasn't he the one that kept Jim Jordan off the Jan. 6th committee? Why yes he was.

I think that's what bugs me the most.... While I believe it's sinful for ME to participate in those activities, that's about as far as my opinion needs to go.   I've never heard a good reason why a gay couple shouldn't be allowed to get married.  I think it's perfectly acceptable for me to think something is wrong without feeling the need to make sure that everybody else has to abide by my beliefs and standards.

But it's just gone too far when a person is labeled as "hateful" or "homophobic" not because of their actions, but for refusing to embrace the new norm.

When I was younger all I heard from the gay community whether in the newspapers or tv was "we just want to be accepted, that is all". Once that happened, that was not enough and then here we are. If you don't acknowledge and protest and join in all their causes you are a homophobe.

True story... I  can remember my mom refusing to let us watch Three's Company when I was kid because Jack Tripper "pretended" to be gay so he could live with the girls.  She said something like "first they get you to laugh at it, then it's acceptable."

My views are a lot more moderate on the subject than hers were.  I'm a live and let live kind of person.  But as I watch the Alphabet Mafia force drag queen shows on kids in some areas and people being labeled hateful for saying "you know, the Bible DOES say it's wrong" or refusing to wear a pride jersey (in this case), I think my poor old mama might have been partially right.

Somewhere between her stance back then and where we are today is where we should have stopped on the LGBTQ issues.

    On this, I wholeheartedly agree.

I remember my folks and grandparents just outraged at some of the shows on tv in my younger days.

  10. I found this quote funny about this committee, McGovern is a democrat from Mass.........

“It’s simply about revenge, it’s about disrupting and destroying, rather than collaborating and creating,” McGovern said Tuesday.

That is exactly what the Jan. 6th committee was about. There was no collaborating and creating then. It was simply about smearing Trump. If it were a serious committee why were there only 2 repubs on the panel (and they were both anti-Trumpers). Jim Jordan was told he was not allowed on the committee by Adam Schiff, which by the rules is all on the up and up I guess. No cross examination of the facts was allowed by any person the committee was going after. The hearings were in the basement and no one allowed to attend.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot it is not ok for those same rules to be applied. I think this is going to get interesting.

  11. I wanted Beard to be the coach. That being said, no doubt in my mind Del Conte and in house legal team have left no stone unturned in making this decision. I don't expect the salary will be paid, ever.

This is really a no win for UT in public perception. Keep him for any reason and all you care about is winning games. He can do whatever he wants as long as he wins. May not be true but that would be the perception.

Get rid of him and you did the right thing but lost the best coach/recruiter you've had since the Barnes years.

Ok, i’ll ask…..I have a separate bank account for Paypal, which has way less than $2500. How can Paypal fine me, or take my money? I happen to like Paypal. It makes online purchases so much easier. On Amazon, I just click pay now. Don’t even have to access Paypal.

Also, how does Paypal find out my political stances? Thanks.

Before the fine was retracted by PayPal I had read and heard reporters talking about people reporting others for posts on social media. You know, the everyone gets a trophy crowd that needs safe spaces and are easily offended turning others in.
