As per the emboldened; That statement applies to HJ as well. In the what if area, when the game was played at Silsbee, HJ shoots 30% from the free throw line. An average/normal percentage would have hypothetically provided a victory. When one player is taking the bulk of the team shot attempts, it is difficult for the others to get in a rhythm and be more productive.

Just a quick congrats to Coach Davis and the Hawk basketball team. They definitely earned that victory tonight. Well done. I am busy collecting scores for the site. I will post stats and my thoughts on this game tomorrow. Again, congrats to Hardin-Jefferson and thank you HJISD and Coach Clay Davis for the hospitality.

Several things stood out tonight . The Hawks shot the 3 ball much better than they did in the first round and they got great post play tonight. I still say Bush is the best player in SE Texas. The key tonight though has been the Hawks strength all season and that's depth. The Hawks went 11 deep tonight with no significant drop off. Congrats on the "W" HJ now we need to take care of business Friday.

Keeping the light on that we (Yates) play Silsbee in Huntsville. Bush finished with almost 50 pts. Yates average 30 pts a qtr. It’s going to be a fun game against Silsbee when we hook up

Silsbee had a freshman club last year. They had a full squad of 12 + kids at first. After grades came in, they played with a roster of only 6 kids for the remainder of the season. Same thing happened to JV last year. They lost 5 or 6 players from the team. I'm assuming report cards were the main reason for losing so many kids. Some of that might also be players quitting and a few discipline issues also. Not enough players to form a team would be the main reason, I would imagine. I don't think they'd want to try and compete if they were in a situation with a very small roster again. I watched the HJ/Silsbee freshman game last year when the Tigers only had 6 kids. It was ugly to say the least.

Part of it is they are feeding off the success of Adams and McCain, now that they aren't there, they have to play their role, but it they just wanted the limelight, not to work.

Something ain't right with a few of these kids. It may just be mainly one player or not. Hearing this team is selfish and kids don't want to play their roles. Some are even jealous of Bush, which is pathetic if true. I'm glad Silsbee will be starting over next year with an almost totally new bunch.

I will say I" don't know what's wrong with Cartwright this year last year he was a way better player. This year it like he just their to stand there.🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

To those who think Silsbee would have won if Bush had more "help", give this some thought. Silsbee had a certain number of possessions. Bush took the vast majority of the shots and was amazingly efficient with those shots. If he had had some "help' from the three point line ( someone else shooting some of the shots he took) I am pretty sure that the team three point percentage would have declined. I also would have loved to have some of his free throws attempts replaced by "helpers". Based upon his offensive efficiency, my guess is that having more "help" would have made the final score spread wider.

Nothing wrong with football first players when it's only 1 or 2 kids. When it's half the team or even more, it kind of hurts. Yeah....Bush is definitely b-ball first and only though. Hardin Jefferson, you guys had better make it to region finals now. The pressure is all on you. Us Silsbee fans are gonna be kicked backed and relaxed this year after Yates puts us down.

If Tigee had a terrible season and their record was 8-25 none of you would have a thing to say . FYI relationships were established way before any of this So called recruitment stuff took place. Kids gravitate towards this man and if my son was still in school he would be playing for him. Wouldnt care if he had to sit out a year or whatever the case was . You really think he's the only coach in this area who has kids not from the community or recruiting as you say. PAM & HF scrimmaged last night HF looked strong, a lot of quality arms. Just me keeping score, I had HF 11-4 HF should be battling Silsbee/LCM for those last two playoff spots this year.

Port Arthur Memorial vs Baytown Sterling Jamaal Charles Dude touched the ball 4 times in the 1st quarter and had 4 TD's. He was not happy when the coach pulled him.
