Beaumont United (24) @ Baytown Sterling (14) - FINAL
AggiesAreWe replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
Yes it was. Now United needs a Barbers Hill win over West Brook for the Timberwolves to make playoffs. A WB win eliminates BU. -

Got confirmation that the district does use the point tie break system throughout and not just to break three way then head to head for the remaining two teams. With that, United needs a Barbers Hill win to get in playoffs. Current point totals for BH, BU and WB: BH +18 beat United by 25 but district has an 18 point max WB -7 lost to United by 7 BU -11 lost to BH by 25 (18 max), beat WB by 7 BU finishes at -11 The worst BH can finish is 0 (that's if WB beats them by 18 or more) The best WB could finish is +11 (WB win by 18 or more) West Brook needs to win by 12 or more to get #3 seed. A win by 11 or less and BH is the #3 seed and WB is #4 seed. A win by BH and they are the #2 seed (based on their head to head win over Lufkin) and United is the #4 seed. @Austin1985

Anderson has to hope that New Waverly beats Trinity. Owls would advance if 3 way tie.

Wasn't at this game, but there's no chance it was more entertaining than this thread. This is what I am here for.

(Just for the sake of further discussion.) I already made the PNG-Crosby comparison several pages ago. That was a definite rules violation. Reportedly, per the experts on this thread, there was no rules violation per se in this LCM-BC instance. So, this is only an ethics question. Also if LCM "returned" the watch, in whatever manner they said they returned it, then was it actual stealing? Or did they just borrow it. I guess you could say they did steal it for ~15 minutes or so. I agree with you, btw, but it was interesting yesterday at the weekly golf game I participate in, this was discussed among the group. All six guys in our group immediately sided with LCM. No poker game marked cards comparisons; it was mostly sign-stealing comparisons. "BC should have kept up with their equipment, etc, and acted accordingly." Edit, to rephrase the above: Rather than say they sided with LCM, I should say that they had no sympathy at all for BC.

I see what you did there 😉

I agree, however I suspect it would result in another ban quickly.

Silsbee and WOS have dominated most SETX schools over the last two decades regardless of classification. BC is 11-5 over HF in the last 20 years.

Fixed it for you. Friday night I can't attend the PNG-Dayton game, so I'll be looking at PNG and Nederland games on line, while watching the other scores. -
I think Lumberton wins this but LCM has a chance to steal it.
-
I’ll be rooting hard for BC in the playoffs, just like to give our neighbors & rivals a hard time. That’s what makes all this fun.

Tarkington and Huntington were not in that district.

My two cents re: ArmbandGate. There may not be evidence that stealing the armband (That’s what it was. The instant he intentionally did not return the armband to its rightful owner while knowing it wasn’t his to keep, it became a theft) helped LCM win the game, but it’s evidence that at least one LCM coach (1) stole from another team, (2) lied when he had an obligation to tell the truth, and (3) took steps to cover up his theft even while direct inquiries were being made to him about the armband’s location and what he did with it. That has to be punished. If an attorney did something like this in a trial he might be disbarred. And, the team should have had to forfeit the game. Letting LCM skate on this invites exactly the message people are making here today, that “it must not have been that big of a deal if it didn’t warrant a forfeit.” It’s very much a big deal, an astonishing example of bad faith and dishonesty from a public employee in charge of children. It was a blatant violation of sportsmanship, human decency, and the law. Most of us will remember that in 2018 PNG had to forfeit a game they won against Crosby under less severe circumstances. A coach had an iPad in the press box - Against the rules. So, even though it was agreed by the district members that there had been no effect on the game’s outcome, PNG was forced to forfeit. There was no lying, or hiding evidence by PNG as there was by LCM - it was simply, “You broke a rule and we have to send a message.” LCM broke the rules, and the district should have sent a stronger message.

BC and HJ were running from competition. They were escaping having to play Silsbee, Jasper, WOS, and HF. The decision couldn’t have had anything to do with travel, since they moved from one local district to another local district. And, the local 4ad1 district is absolutely not of high quality. The top 3 this year in the local 4ad2 district would be the top 3 this year in the 4ad1 district. The same would be true most years.
