Snapshot Day is Oct 31 What is Snapshot Day?
Elessar replied to Matthew328's topic in High School Football
The growth is coming. There are housing divisions in the process of being built, but they are still a few years off from seeing that reflected in the numbers at the schools. -

Larger teams that are on the bubble do not want to go up and be smaller team in that bracket.

On social media folks freaking out about free speech.... This is NOT a free speech or 1st amendment issue. Remind those folks that the FCC controls broadcast airways - They have guidelines - there are certain things you can't say...for example, watch local broadcast news, notice they don't drop F bombs? Notice if they play a clip with curse words, they bleep it? Did we hear anyone in an uproar over the bleeps crying they are taking away our rights? Nope,,,,,

I really don't see how that is with all growth going on the past few years. -

Which is completely ridiculous. The median of the 5 days would be the most accurate predictor. They should have to count each day and take the median. Otherwise the process simply promotes falsehoods with the count.

If OF doesn't bump up to 4A this time then they never will. This would make 3 straight times they would be 5 students or less under the count.... -
Toby Foreman/ Killeen Shoemaker

I understand completely – – this world of Football and football coaches and hiring a football coaches is really crazy. That’s why I write that newsletter on Substack – – you need to join as I send out three newsletters a week. And encourage comments just like y’all do here on Southeast Texas. I’ve enjoyed being a part of Southeast Texas since I started coaching in Clear Lake in 1984. And especially when I became defense coordinator st Crosby a few years later. I always like the Paul Bunyan like reputation of Toby, and I remembered my hearing stories about him and Coach Hooks from Jerry Stewart at Dayton who brought me up at Clear Lake and who I as a defense coordinator for Crosby battled him a few years in a row before Larry Haynes came to Crosby and fired me. Anyway, just for your information I emailed Coach Foreman this morning early about 530 because knowing him, like me, we’re kind of alike, we’re up early in the morning, especially on game day. And I told him the truth about how well his staff and well his ninth and JV team acted while they were demolishing Waco University.. And of course, he was very thankful of that. He emailed me back and told me some things about his career and how he grew up, you know, with the blood of Southeast Texas in him and he can never, you know, repay all the great people there. I told him about my newsletter cause I think I would love to do a biography of him on ithe newsletter just to let the rest of the world know. I’m starting to get followers all over the United States. A lot of people love to keep up with coaches and the controversy of coaches and whatever. I write about the bad but also about the good because the way our country is going we need great men as coaches to develop the character of these young boys. And they are young boys until they turn 21 in my eyes. And it’s so important to catch them early as my mom would say once a boy turns 14 It’s very hard to change your character. I agree, my mother, a first generation Ukrainian immigrant with a second grade education was so wise. Again, follow me on Substack. It’s called “Fire the coach we deserve better “ pass it around everybody else – – they’re quick reads. Take about 5 to 8 minutes and please comment. And hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll be able to do a expo on Toby – – he definitely is a good one. coachbear -
Understanding the record and variables associated, would you say WOS is better/worse/same as last year?

7 is the talented soph. I’d prefer he get the next start. I think he’s mature enough. He was field aware enough to throw the ball away when y’all applied some pressure & he couldn’t escape. That hasn’t been the case with 8, and TO’s or big losses have occurred that LP can’t afford with their O system. I think it’s time to see what he can do for more than just a series, or when LP gets behind. If opposing D’s truly have to worry about a passing/scrambling threat, Simon and Ruffin would be a very hard stop. Moreso than they are now, and the young man can definitely throw the ball. That would help take a load off of a young secondary that’s still finding their way.

50/50 again They are 2-1. Pounded Houston Waltrip 51-0. Lost to #3 Dallas Parish Episcopal 38-21. Came back in 4th quarter over Austin St Michael's 44-42. Last year 45-38 here Here's the recap from Kogt.com West Orange-Stark jumped out to a 31-7 lead over Episcopal with a solid ground game and they lead at the half 31-14. In the third quarter a failed attempt at a fake punt seemed to spark the Knights who ran off 17 straight points to tie the game at 31 after three. But the Episcopal comeback woke up the Mustangs as Marcus Turner connected with Miketavion Davis on a 77 yd TD pass followed by a pick six by Ja’Mikael Davis to make it 45-31. Episcopal would score thru the air to make it a one TD lead and on their last possession they had two TD’s called back that would’ve tied the game. But the Mustangs hold on for the big win and improve to 3-1 on the season with homecoming this week. WOS finished with 472 yds. of offense.

Excellent report Coach. I'd personally pay the expenses for the entire crew if you could do the same for our current staff here. Just need Doc Brown's DeLorean to go back 3 years and fix the past for the future Mustangs. Better than Coach Hyde's staff. That says a lot. Nice to know Toby's reputation is still what we always expected. We are so proud of him and all the other graduates from the program that went on to great things. Both on and off the field. The coaching tree may not be as spread out as some others. Guaranteed the ones that are out there following what Hooks and CT started are having the success they need to continue they're careers. This staff that demolished our traditions will forever be known for the demise of the winningest program in the great state of Texas. 40+ years to build Less than 40 games to lose Smh... when will they stop this horrible experiment? Well... no nevermind. We can all wait for it together. Just call me Sgt Schultz cuz I know nothing 🧢 🥁 🤐 -
Good late evening, Southeast Texas Sportz. I try to report back to you from Central Texas letting you know anything that’s pertinent that y’all would have an interest in. Well tonight, Wednesday night I was the sideline judge for the ninth grade and JV of Killeen Shoemaker versus Waco University. The first thing I asked, the coaches from Colleen was if this was the high school where the Head Coach was Toby Foreman. And they laughed and they said yeah do you know him. I said no I’m really never have met him, but he is a legend in Southeast Texas. And I told him how whenever there’s a job opening that his name comes up so what I thought I’d do for y’all always give you a report on his teams because his entire coaching staff was their coaching the teams. They only have 1/9 grade team and a JV team, which is the same for Waco university who got defeated last year by Fort Bend Marshall in Waco – – I was at that game and Marshall destroyed them by about 40. and even though this isn’t a report of their varsity versus Waco university varsity which occurs tomorrow night here in Waco, but I’ll be roughing another game, I think it’s a good gauge when you see the ninth grade in JV match and you can tell a lot about a how a program is run. And seeing the results, Toby foreman is running a great program at killeen shoemaker. in the ninth grade game, Shoemaker won by I believe six or seven touchdowns. I wasn’t paying attention to the scoreboard because it was such a blowout because I was in charge of sideline with the chains. And then in the JV game, it was the same story – – it was even more of a blowout now, being on the sideline, I could see how the kids acted and the professionalism of the coaches. And I reported last week about La Vega, which lost the state championship game to Carthage and how well I thought their coaches acted and the whole mechanics of coaching, which is so important from a coaching point of view. This is what I critique in my Substack, a newsletter. I write on the app Substack it’s called Fire the coach we deserve, I review coaching and coaches high school professional in college. And I do that just based on the evidence that they present during a game or possibly what’s going on during the week. I love the fact that I’m a referee now because I get to be on the field and after spending about 38 years coaching, I know about the mechanics of a good staff being on a good staff and being on a bad staff . Just say that I was just impressed – – maybe even a little more with Shoemaker staff than La Vega. The coaches were very professional, very organized and knew how to push the kids buttons to get them excited in a controlled manner. There were more skirmishes last week when La Vega played China Springs then tonight. In fact, university tried to bow up a couple times because they were getting their ass beat, and their coaches were real quick to make sure their kids stayed in line. So anyway, just because for years I’ve been reading about Toby the legend I thought I would report on his fruits which are his younger teams. I’ll watch the local sports tomorrow night as I should be back home about 10 and watch highlights. all right man I’ll always love the Sports Talk. That’s why I’m doing that Substack newsletter and it’s free if you wanna join. I started this week. Central Texas also is big-time football. The only difference is it is not as hot and humid. It’s a little hot but in the evenings, it cools off nice. Y’all have a good one. Enjoy this weekend’s football. Coach Bear I am tired and I’m doing voice to text and I’m not gonna go back through and correct my freaking grammar

OlDawg, do you prefer #7 or #8 at the QB spot? LaPorte's SOPH class is loaded with talent at QB, RB, and WR.
-
Surprised a thread hasn’t been started yet. What do y’all think? Anyone know much about Episcopal?

Silver Boot is collecting dust in Houston. 9 years in a row.
-
I said we had to go at minimum 4-2 this week and we already have 3 of those wins. I'll be good with a 2-1 series win this weekend.
-
I think we need to go 4-2 in the last 6 at least. Rough weekend ahead. 7-2 would be a good finish
