Texas GOP's New Congressional Map Would Create 5 New Seats!
AggiesAreWe replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
I know all about civil disobedience. I just don't see this as the same. I also do not think redistricting should be on this bill. That should be on a separate bill all on it's own or not even put on a bill. Let the voters decide. -

I’ll never support Trump. If he gets a third term without a constitutional amendment I’m gone. This won’t be The United States of America any more. “Concessions from an occupying power”. The republicans in the Texas Lege are ruling like occupiers. Quorum rules exist for more than one reason. -

Who fires them for not showing up? The voter or the governor? It’s not done regularly because it is an extreme measure. Civil disobedience entails going against the law, but in a nonviolent manner. The sit-ins across the south in the 50’s and 60’s are a prime example. -
After my college day post, you may want to re-think that lol

We do live in a have versus have not society....we can never all be equal. I was not the smartest guy in my class. I've worked hard and provided my Son everything he could want. I think everyone can do the same with effort. I TRULY believe everyone is equal, it's the decisions that are made that make the difference. I may have been able to be as rich as Elon Musk, but when I went to Lamar, I decided to party, have fun, drink beer at the Setzer center (that's how old I am) - and date as many women as humanly possible......and I successfully completed those goals and have some great memories. Sadly, graduating college was not something that was important to me back then, and I had to work hard to over come that. I didn't want anyone paying for my bad decisions and I don't want to pay for someone else's bad decisions.

Actually I do.........I even refreshed myself and read this [Hidden Content] So, it is the refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition; its usual purpose is to force concessions from the government or occupying power. So in this case, you think it is ok for the Government to oppose the Government because one side can't get their way? Are you going to support Trump when he stays in office a 3rd term and exercises his civil disobedience? The "Government" needs to play within the rules or resign..... -

I get that. But if Reps (both sides) were to do this all the time without any immediate repercussions, then how can legislature work fluidly? I can certainly understand voting someone out because they no longer rep your beliefs and values. But I don't need to vote someone out if they don't show up for work. That should be handled accordingly and immediately. Just my opinion. Would feel this way if the sides were reversed. -

Nothing wrong with what he said, you simply live in the pathetic world of reading “woe is me” into every thing that is said, especially if it comes from someone that won’t openly declare hatred for Trump. We could use more Hippys in the world and less victims like you.

Surely Buna will better than last season.

I agreed with your first sentence. Then you devolved into describing a “have vs.have not” social order. Then you had to stick the “crooked poor people” tag with the comment “…don’t have a high resale value”. Sounds kind of like a segregationist back in the Jim Crow days.

lol, you proved his point again.

Democrats cannot stop the redistricting.....they don't have the votes and there are no rules that Democrats can use. Abbott is going to continue to call a special session after special session.......sometimes you have to recognize defeat, and live to fight another day....at $500.00 a day, how much money you willing to spend and still not win? -

All’s fair in love and war. The Republicans started a war. Civil disobedience has its place in a democratic society. The price to pay is borne by the practitioners. Their respective voters should decide the penalty/reward for that disobedience. Not the governor, legislature, or courts. -
Dave Campbell’s Texas football magazine

There's definitely space issues when you get below 4A because we've tried to keep the magazine at 400 pages. With more and more schools playing football, that dance gets tougher each year Depending on the team we may have a longer write-up on the team page on the website...which team/district are you referring to?? I've passed your feedback on to the editors, etc.
