  3. Now people will be complaining that they are pushing sugar and obesity on children…..
  4. …. of course you probably realize that from your former life.
  5. The year after Hurricane Ike, Port Arthur had 4 or 5 murders in January. I was the on scene supervisor on 3 of them. At that pace we were on schedule for about 100 per 100,000 people which is almost 20 times the national average. I think we had 3 or 4 the rest of the year. They come in spurts.
  6. Why should we? Are we going to criminally jail everyone that interacted or did business with him?
  7. So you are saying take those three point shots away and BC wins by more? Sorry, I have to disagree. No other BC player that night was knocking down any three's. Those shots were much needed to win that game on that night. I am not saying BC needs #24 to win games for them on a regular basis but on this particular night, his hitting those three's were a major part in the win. That and Silsbee turning the ball over too much in critical times. Silsbee would go on a run and get close to taking a lead and either they would turn it over or #24 would hit a three. I 100% agree with you about players being selfish. Not conducive to positive outcomes. (unless of course he is an all world player) Just my old "hasbeen" opinion.

  9. I see it through a totally different lens. I’ve seen far too many wannabe superstars over the years lose games for teams due to selfishness. Those boys don’t need him to win games, in fact the outcome probably would have been more in the Card’s favor. Just my old, professional opinion of course.
  10. Gators kicked my Aggies ass last night. A&M scored just 3 points in the first 12 minutes (game clock) of the game. Only trailed by 10 at that time but it was a sign of how it was going to be. At one time Aggies were 1/20 from three. Needless to say A&M won't be ranked again this week. Could use a home win vs. Missouri this week before going on the road to ranked Vandy on Saturday.

  15. All I saw was #24 hit some big three's at some very crucial times in this game. IMO, BC doesn't win this game without him. For what that's worth.

  17. Are the playoff brackets structured yet for this year?
  18. I was one of those professionals for a long time before moving to this area many years ago. I am plenty qualified to call out what I see. Sometimes the truth hurts and you can tell who get their feelings hurt. I have no personal agenda and I want to see the Cards do well for many years after this one. A selfish player is not a play maker, end of story. The end of the game last night was nothing but chemistry and smooth ball movement on that court. That last group had to dig themselves out of a hole and they did it with class. I think Coach Daspit has done a wonderful job with this team. He deserves to be Coach of the Year. 24 is a stud and will be special, he just has alot of growing and learning to do. For now, he is nowhere near the caliber as some of the boys on that team, but he will get there by his senior year.
  19. Booker T just lost to Yates and BC was up double digits multiple times on Yates last year but lost it late 4th quarter. So we’ll see how it goes come round 2.
  20. If Booker T has any Lewis/Mcdermott caliber players on their team, it'll be a miserable round 2 for the Cardinals. I scanned over their games played this year and didn't see anything too impressive in the wins department. Maybe they're still good, but not like a few years ago.
  21. 24 for BC is a stud!! Will be special
  22. It's either hit or miss. Lol!
  23. Critical thinking skills are a hallmark of a true technical education. Critical thinking skills are also learned through living. You must have a way to sustain yourself while you’re learning, and you will learn critical thinking by living better than from any book. Any form of education is only the beginning. It’s up to the individual to continue learning. I was the training coordinator at the petrochemical company I worked for during my last few years. Before I signed off on completion to satisfy company and OSHA rules, I had my own rule. The student had to tell me ‘why’ when I asked them a question instead of just telling me the procedure from the manual. Then, I knew they could critically think in a hazardous environment. If they could do so at the plant, they began to do so in other parts of their life. How do I know? Coffee break discussions.
  24. You love you some polls.
  25. I got a story about that. In 1984 I was named to represent Hardin County on the Southeast Texas Workforce Development Board. It is responsible for distributing federal workforce training dollars in the three county region here. Reagan’s retooling of the old CETA program. I served until 2019. As time went on, corporate America became more and more involved indirectly with public education curriculum. Basic skills, they said. Since then, education has gotten more and more “basic”. More science and math, less English, history, and social studies. Also escalating over that time was the complaint that public education wasn’t cranking out kids who could do much of anything and as always blamed parents, drugs, video games, music, etc. to keep our eye off reality. A “liberal” education in the technical sense creates a well rounded individual with effective critical thinking skills. We quit doing that. People with poor critical thinking skills are more malleable and less capable of focus outside the basic skills they were taught. Training went from Apprenticeship programs to ITC and other training facilities funded by employers. Again, criticism about the “unpreparedness” and indifference of the workforce continued. It hasn’t worked. If anything it has made people more inclined to be told what to think rather than possess the curiosity and critical thinking skills to evaluate current events for themselves. It just ain’t that simple. “Train them and they will come” is not all it’s cracked up to be. Educate them and they will be sought.
