  2. I don’t agree with you. Most voters oppose the school voucher program here in Texas, but the local leadership of the Republican Party made sure that any candidate who opposed the vouchers got an opponent, and the local party leadership rallied around the candidate who supported vouchers… we’ve never seen local party leadership at sitting local rep like this area went after Dade Phelan last fall. The local party went as far as censuring him. How does that even happen? They’re out of control ideologues. They literally pick the most extreme candidate other because he/she most closely aligns with their own radical beliefs. To put it frankly, moderates don’t feel strongly enough about moderate stands on issues to devote their lives to fighting for the middle. Extremists do. Most of us here are more interested politically than 97% of the population. And we’re not interested enough to get involved locally. Those people who DO care enough to attend meetings, etc… are just mean, hateful people who devote their lives to fighting “the other guys,” whether they be of the the same party or not. And they’re the ones who pick the candidates we vote for. You seem level headed. Go down to your local Republican Party meeting and tell them how you feel… you’ll be a dirty RINO in minutes.
  3. Not over. My belief is that most people are actually more Independent voters than tied hardcore to one of the major Parties. That’s a major reason why there’s low primary turnout. But, in a national election, one of the major Parties will win an election because that’s how the system is rigged. Local elections allow for more moderate/representative candidates to have a realistic chance of winning. The change back will take time.
  4. The problem is that the most hardcore extremists are who populate the local party machines. The masses don’t pick the candidates that we vote on in the fall…. The whackjobs who actually vote in the primaries keep selecting the most extreme candidates on both sides of the aisle. Normal people don’t spend time on message boards engaging in political discourse… but with the exception of Reagan, I don’t sense the type of dedication from any of yall that would indicate a willingness to participate in the local party from either side. The truth is that most people don’t vote general elections. And only a fraction of that fraction also vote in the primaries where general elections candidates are chosen. The candidates are handpicked by the most fervent ideologues among us, and it shows by the way we keep getting dog crap candidates like Trump. And it was worse than that when the Ds circumvented their primary voters to pick VP Harris to run against Trump in 24. We need to wrestle control of the parties from the whackos or the American Experiment is over. Who am I kidding? It’s already over. We’re just waiting on the credits to roll.

  7. Both Parties have no one to blame but themselves for the public’s loss of trust in our institutions. In their attempts to ‘win’ politically for control of the people—who they’re supposed to be serving instead of ruling—they’ve both fabricated conspiracies that have been very detrimental. Now, the Dems have an anarchist, Socialist/Communist problem, and the Reps have a radical protectionist, conspiracy believing, anti immigrant problem. Both have a lack of trust problem, and it shows in every poll. They have created the decline we’re seeing by their own respective desires for power. There’s no going back now. The best thing that can happen now is a delegation back to more local control where the people have more direct input again. As it was intended from the beginning. JMHO
  8. I’m pretty sure you’re wrong. I think he’s scrambling to put the genie back in the bottle.
  9. Not sure a judge is going to want his/her handling of their case under the scrutiny this will receive. I just don’t see much being released. Self preservation and CYA mode from the judges. I also believe Trump has invested a lot in getting people to believe in corruption & the Deep State. People are always ripe for conspiracy theories. They’re like mysteries people want to solve. He created this mess himself and it blew out of his control. I don’t believe he anticipated his own turning on him after he fed them the conspiracy bait all this time. Nothing will come of this except for a few books down the road.
  10. With the Republicans MOSTLY on the same page, there is not much Dems can do.......
  11. I'm not sold on that, but now, whatever comes out was from the pressure of the media and the democrats.....If that wasn't the plan, it should have been....lol
  12. Nice. How about this one? Democrats wahhhhh. Lmao. [Hidden Content]

  18. Elvis is probably listed in the flight logs.
  19. Nice also. But, I always get guilted into stopping at Russell Stover. I prefer guilting myself into stopping at Atkinson’s in Lufkin. LOL I’m a sucker for Chick-O-Sticks. Buy ‘em in bulk.😁
  20. A hole in one and birdie.
  21. I like 287 to Corsicana when I go up that way. Real nice laid back ride.
  22. Was I right? Maybe or maybe not...... But this was just posted by Trump: " Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!"
  23. Avoid it like the plague. We’ve been taking 59 & heading up E Texas & Lufkin/Athens/Rockwall way to get north of DFW. Prettier drive anyway.
  24. I 45 has congestion in normal times. The massive construction project rerouting around downtown has exponentially bogged it down. No toll lanes through there, either.
  25. I’m more concerned he was enjoying a soccer match. That’s like watching paint dry, and you leave happy with a tie. WTH?
  26. The mozzarella cheese sticks at Bennigan’s were killer. Always a crowd there too. Mismanagement?
  27. I liked all three, can’t remember what closed them down, oil downturn maybe?
