HJ 3-2(0-1)  OF  2-4(1-1)

HJ held WOS to 75 yards in 1st half.

Upset?

And yet WOS still scored 49 points on HJ.. Orangefield has this one by atleast 2 touchdowns, if they have a bad game.

One TD was from 1 yard after they ran a punt back to the one, another TD was after a punt was ran back to the 12. 2 INT's for TD's I believe.  Take away those mistakes and it is a lot closer.

That is what wos does to teams. Great special teams and defense set up short offensive drives. You could probably ask anyone in the area and they will say that wos's offense is not that oustanding but their defense and special teams are the best in the area.

Back to this game. I look at OF schedule and I see a much tougher schedule.  If they are getting healthy again, I take OF by two td's. If I remember right, against EC, OF was missing their starting running back and turned it over multiple times.  Certain games can be decieving.

give HJ the missed short field goal, and take away the two INT returns, and it's 35-3.  that's almost respectable against WOS.  then take away the two TD drives after the punt returns that totalled 13 yards, and it's 21-3.  SO yes, it was a blowout, but the score wasn't indicative of how much closer HJ played them than in years past.  a couple of QB miscues, and a couple of ST miscues made this game a much larger blowout than it was for the other 98% of the game.

Ok guys, help me out here. I am trying to figure out how some HJ fans are trying to spin a 49-0 thumping into an "almost" close game. ::) Are you kidding me?!!

This is the boxscore of that 49-0 loss to WO-S:

                                    West Orange-Stark  Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson
Total yards                                           279                             73
First downs                                          17                             4
Rushes/Yds                               33/195                   34/-2
Average rush                                 5.91                           -0.06
Comp/Atts                                         9/17/0                   4/12/3
Pass yards                                           84                               75
Comp pct                                         52.94                   33.33
Fumbles/Lost                                   4/1                            2/0
Penalties-yards                                 11-110                     8-53

I mean, 4 first downs and -2 yards rushing for the whole game? Out gained by over 200 yards!!

I think the score indicated just how one-sided this game actually was. ;)

Also, consider this, 52 of HJ's 73 yards came on one play.

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
