Hopefully they hire from within. Several coaches at HF has experience and could take over with little interuption. They have a good thing going.

I dont think they are going to promote from within.  They will go outside.  Stewart or Dale could be the answer.  Or someone the sup has ties to.

Who is Stewart or Dale. Where are they from?

Mike and Lance. One is a hometown boy and the other is a former finalist for the job when Managum was the coach.

I didn't see Mike Stewart on the list of applicants.

I hope they make the right decision this time and go with Mahaffey.  He is a proven AD/HC with a successful track record.  I have known him since his time at BC as an assistant.  He is a quality guy with the kids at heart.  He has been at HF 4 years now and for the good of the program those kids don't need another change.  I think those that check into him will find he places importance on the total program, not just football.  Just my opinion.

We have some really great athletes coming up through the program. I for one would like a fresh look. Someone who will stay with H-F and not follow the desires of the parents but put kids first where they have the chance to succeed. Everyone wants to know what is wrong out here in H-F well if your a parent look in the mirror and ask Am I doing what is right for the program or am I just out for little johnny? If you answer  correct little Johnny wins. Let the coaches coach.

It's needs to be one of the coaches we already have. And we dont need ole home town back again,we tried him in basketball and it did not go very well.

When "ole home town" was the basketball coach, they missed the playoffs by one game.  If they would have won the last one they would have been in the playoffs...pretty similar to this years team minus the playoff apperance.  I do agree with you though, it needs to be given to one that is already on the staff.  Good luck Horns!  Hopefully the school board will choose wisely!!

I'm not sure about anyone on the staff.
[/quote]

Maybe you should do some checking!  Three of the assistants on staff have HC/AD experience, and I'm not talking about a two/three year stint at some school going 1-9 & 0-10.  Guys with quality resumes that would keep the team from making a big transition to another scheme, which they desperately don't need.  The school board needs to give one of these guys a shot and HIRE WITHIN!!  Don't beat around the bush and give them the run around and an iterview as a curtious formallity to say "yeah, well he is on the staff, so we will give him an interview"!  Just do what's right for the kids and the program...

Wayne Mahaffey.......enough said.  Check his resume.  Won a state championship at Bartlett( i think )  ,  Won numerous district championships at Rusk, and was very successful at Kaufman.

Cheating thr kids if you don't hire someone that knows the kids....

    • No worries. My thing is this. Trump was badly flawed. We knew it going into 2016. As an incumbent, there really wasn’t much of a chance to nominate a different candidate in 2020. But after all that happened during Trump’s term, the election loss and fiasco that followed, and everything else that he’s been a part of since… we should have chosen a different nominee in 2024. That’s been my point all along, but that’s not what we did. His followers are very vocal and infect all levels of the Republican Party leadership-especially in local counties and precincts. Enough people decided that Trump is the only person who should be considered to be the eventual R candidate that he cruised to the nomination in spite of everything, purely based on the cult of personality, IMO.  All of the signs were there. Trump is in a dead heat with Biden and has been all along, while every other potential R candidate enjoyed double digit leads over Biden. Literally all we had to do is pick someone over Trump and they’d cruise to a win over Biden-but we’d rather lose with Trump than win with someone else.    Names like Gary Hart and John Edwards come to mind. Those guys were Dems with a small fraction of Trump’s baggage, but the party still dumped them and moved on… I can’t understand why the Rs have refused to self-police and choose someone with decency… who would also be able to win the popular vote. We (the Rs) should have made DJT an old memory… but force the Ds and independents to do it for us.
    • Trump literally ran on locking up hillary... ppl seem to 4get that
    • Currently in a monsoon raining badly here in Lufkin game will start late
    • I read your posts and agree on some things and disagree with some.  I guess my one question is (in your opinion) who should we vote for?  Third party candidates do not get elected.  Kennedy is only going to dilute votes which will benefit Democrats.  Write-in votes do not win elections and I’m not even sure they are counted in a presidential election.  Many people get on and express views and tell us what is wrong with X, but never give the answer for Y.  I am extremely sarcastic and passive-aggressive, but genuinely hope this post doesn’t come across that way.  Trump has my vote until someone persuades me otherwise (and I’m a Never Biden).  Had another R been nominated they would have had my vote.
