Other than avoiding inclement weather, why would a team want to play on Thursday night? “Friday Night Lights” sure sounds better! LOL

What just happened at the end of the half??? We downed the ball to stop the clock, so the clock doesn’t start again until we snap the ball. The only clock that should have been running was the 25 sec clock, not the game clock with 4 seconds!!!

Please explain...

If he is joining the HF head FB coach, what will his job title be? Doesn't HF have a head baseball coach? What's going to happen at HF???

[/quote] I really like the idea of a team vote!  The head coach was just quoted in the BE for saying "I think the biggest thing for us is our team chemistry."  Said player was a special teams player last year as a junior and could easily start on both sides of the ball this year.

How should an AD/Head Football Coach handle a player who decided to "switch sports" during the offseason and then return to football?  Should you have extra conditioning for the player or would you go as far as suspending him for a few games?  What's your take?

I think they will have the same record as last years squad, if not worse.  The Horns do have a talented QB but he is much too young to have him leading them into the playoffs. One issue the Horns will have to deal with is a massive coaching overhaul.  Two varsity coaches as well as two jr. high guys have decided to leave Longhorn country for several different reasons and "one common one", not to mention anyone's name!  The power struggles and chemistry between the members of the staff will not help Horns. To many guys leaving and new ones coming in will be too much of a distraction.  Still a couple of years away before anyone can mention playoffs at HF. Lets just focus on winning more than one.  A streak would be nice as long as it doesn't involve someone with no clothes. It would be even better if it happened in the winning column!!!

WHAT??? A school actually hired someone within the program to take over and be the Head Coach!!!!  Congratulations Coach Fogo!  I am happy that SOME administrations do the right thing and give a guy that has been loyal to the program a shot at doing something they love.  Congrats again! P.S. Maybe HF should have hired this guy  ;D

Congrats to Jordan!! Is the older Hunter, Jared still playing ball?  Haven't heard much about him after the transfer to Ozen.  I figured they would have played together on varsity this year since Jared was on Varsity as a freshman at HF.

I am glad that someone attempted to answer those questions, thank you Rizon.  Not too sure those are the answers I was looking for, and definately doesn't answer what being able to "follow" means.  Maybe someone else can help us out...

[/quote] How long do you have to "prove you are able to follow"?  And what does that even mean?  How long has this new head coach been "following"?  Is it just because he was "following" at a 5A that he is more qualified than a guy that has been at a successful 3A?  I will never know the answer to these questions.  I guess that is why I am no longer in the profession.  The girls softball program talent pool has taken a nose dive the last couple of years...very similar to what has happened to our football team the last 4-5 years.  You can't have the coaches throw strikes, get cluch hits, make tackles and catch passes; that is up to the athletes on the field. The AD shouldn't fire himself if he has another 2-8 year or worse...but the administration that hired him should!!!  I was told that the AD said "2 and 8 is unacceptable!" and that is the absolute truth!

Any word on who the new hire will be?  I noticed both the boys and girls basketball jobs are open also!  How many coaches are leaving this year?  Looks like the new AD will get a lot of opportunity to find replacements...hopefully he will give employees within the program a shot at some of these positions.  Only time will tell...

"Young" in his career.  Didn't say I would run him off, but if he came in with Harris, I would think he would leave with him; if he is heading out of town.  If an AD promotes a "young" guy to a coordinator position he must like him for something!  Hopefully he will be "greater" next year if he is still around; defense can't get much worse statistic wise.  I am sure he would love your support  ;)

At some point you have to stop blaming the coaches, not that I am backing Harris.  He said the right things to get hired, and you have to give hime time to implement his stuff; what ever that might be.  At one point,  in the last couple of years, H-F had 4 ADs on staff.  This years staff has a coordinator that has only coached 3 years total; and you want him to stop WOS, Silsbee; come on people!!  Instead of using someone on staff with a little more "football knowledge" to lead the defense, Harris puts it on a young guy and you get the results that were posted on another thread; worst in the district.  If he wants to leave let him go, and take whomever with him!  I am pretty sure he said "2 and 8 was unexceptable!  It is the coaches fault when a team goes 2-8 that they are not prepared week in and week out" when he hired in. Offseason is another animal... I am sure the new basketball coach is loving the fact that his basketball players did nothing but legs for a solid week after football started their "offseason" workout.  Maybe that's why they lost to Kountze 100-17.  17 points in four 8 minute quarters!!!  The kids COULDN'T MOVE!  Don't kill the other programs because your football team went winless in district.  Randy I know you work out, and several of us do; but you don't do legs for 45 min for 5 straight days (4 sets of 10) without working out other muscle groups.  Good luck to the rest of the programs this year.  Hopefully things will improve soon in Longhorn land.
