But so can the others who are anticipated to be taken before him
Excellent observation
Thank you.  I put in a lot of study and analysis before arriving at my enlightened conclusion.  Are there going to be any Yates players in the draft?
How many former Yates players are in the NBA?  I know there was a thread before that listed Golden Triangle players that have made it to the league, just curious!
 2.
Ooooops..... So 2 district games and zero points .... And they still play BC & Silsbee!!!!
How do you score "points" in baseball?  ;)  Not looking good for the Horns.  Somethings got to get them going on offense, stranding runners and not getting those timely hits are really hurting them this year as district has begun.  Good luck tonight vs OF!!
 3. Being the #8 FS, I can't believe he didn't get an invite to the Combine!  I guess we will see come draft day.  Good luck Tramain!
 4. Does anyone have any idea where Tramain will be drafted this year?  Team, round, etc...he had a very nice career at Arkansas.  Hope we see his name on Draft Day!!
 5.
[Hidden Content] MVP                  Shawn Prudhomme    HJ Offensive MVP      Chris Elam        Silsbee Defensive MVP      Cameron Malveaux  HF Newcomer of year    Patrick Reed      Silsbee Coaches of year      Todd Sutherland HJ and Joe Sigler Silsbee
Has Shawn gotten any offers from anyone?  Very talented, and obvious MVP of the district but haven't heard anything on him yet...just curious.
 6.
I'm not sure about anyone on the staff.
Maybe you should do some checking!  Three of the assistants on staff have HC/AD experience, and I'm not talking about a two/three year stint at some school going 1-9 & 0-10.  Guys with quality resumes that would keep the team from making a big transition to another scheme, which they desperately don't need.  The school board needs to give one of these guys a shot and HIRE WITHIN!!  Don't beat around the bush and give them the run around and an iterview as a curtious formallity to say "yeah, well he is on the staff, so we will give him an interview"!  Just do what's right for the kids and the program...
 7.
It's needs to be one of the coaches we already have. And we dont need ole home town back again,we tried him in basketball and it did not go very well.
When "ole home town" was the basketball coach, they missed the playoffs by one game.  If they would have won the last one they would have been in the playoffs...pretty similar to this years team minus the playoff apperance.  I do agree with you though, it needs to be given to one that is already on the staff.  Good luck Horns!  Hopefully the school board will choose wisely!!

The real season starts now ;D
I thought he was refering to the real season of BASEBALL! 8)  You know, the game where you have to have skills to hit a round ball traveling 80-90 mph with a round bat.  Yes sir, the reason season starts now!  ;D
*YAWN* I use to play the game. Can't stand to watch it now *yawn*
Dove your a pretty good size fella, I bet you could have made a hellofa first baseman/DH.  If you would have stuck with it, I understand you went the basketball direction...those skills I mentioned above must have not gotten your full attention during the season.  Some say you should have pretty good hand/eye coordination to play the game.  ;D

 10. Can someone post these please, would love to see who is honored on the list.  We had some great historic runs this year, sorry it's over for 21-3A.  Thanks.
 11.
Wildcatter, apples and oranges.  Sutherland has only, if I count it correctly, 3 on his team and only one starter who played football for Coach Martel.  HF had AT LEAST 3 starters who were playing football for Price.  It is easy to say let the basketball team start with it's skill set in August as opposed to November, but are you going to tell the football coaches that his players have to be training for another sport that they are currently in season for football?  I don't think so. 89falcon is right on. BTW, how are we talking about BASKETBALL training in the FOOTBALL forum.
89falcon is correct on the weight training! HF had ALL but three play football.  One of those three started, and they all happened to be seniors, and are all multisport athletes.  So everyone was in the weight room year round.  Obviously it has helped these kids become a more competitive program!
 12.
I think basic weight training should start in middle school.
You are correct, but "some parents" write or have a "very qualified sports trainer" write some excuse for their kid to not participate in the workouts.  At both the middle school and high school level, right Dove!  ::)
 13.
He was assessed the foul.  Before the game started, on the scoreboard, 10-1-0 (1 for the foul).
If B1 dunks here are the penalties. 1. Technical foul on player B1. This counts toward his disqualification for 2 T's or 5 fouls and as a team foul toward bonus. (10.3.4; Technical Foul Plenalty Summary pg 73 rule book; 4.8.2) 2. Coach of Team B is given an indirect T. He also loses coaching box and muxt sit for remainder of the game. (4.19.5.e; 10.3.4.Penalty; 10.5.3 note 1) 3. The game starts with any Team A player at the line for two free throws. (10.3 Penalty, 8.3) 4. The arrow is set IMMEDIATELY toward team B when A has the ball at his/her disposal for a throwin following the freethrows (4.3.3) Do not wait for the throwin to be completed. Correction.  Thank you. Did Sutherland lose his coaching box and have to sit the remainder of the game?
My guess is that you would have to count that as ONE on the INFAMOUS DUNK-O-METER right?  :o  I don't think it had any outcome on the game itself.  Sounds like turnovers hurt the Hawks.  Good season.  Good luck next year.
No one need to tell the kid he made a mistake. I know he will think about that for a long time. But lets remember hes a kid. But to say that that did not affect the game is wrong, That was a 4 point swing at the start of the game, plus the kid starts the game with a foul.
The foul doesn't go to the player.  It is just a team foul.

 16.
Ky is a great player and a great kid. He and a couple of other freshmen could have helped HF's team, but instead of embracing and aceepting them, they would rather discredit and alienate any player who may take away from their playing time. This is the nature of HF boys athletics and that is why they continue to struggle year after year and the good athletes go to other schools.
Ky is the ONLY freshman that would have made the Longhorn Varsity this year if he would have stayed.  Right now they are playing pretty well, and getting the basketball kids will only help them.  We all know how Ky is doing at PNG but have yet to hear about these other "good" athletes...how is Cam doing at Vidor, what team is he on?
 17. Not bashing Ky, or the fact that his family decided to move.  At least they did it the right way  ;), not like BlueDove  :o!!!!!!
His heart may be there, but a 5'10" quarter back is going nowhere...whether he is at PNG or HF!  He is a better baseball player anyway.  If he gets any offers from anyone they will be on the DIAMOND not on the Grid Iron.
 19.
Because there is no way he would start in the field. Hf's infield is loaded. And the outfielders are all a great combination when the right people are out there
Who would be the "right people"? All three outfielders pitch, so somebody has to play out there when one is pitching.  I am pretty sure Walker would have been on varsity, just not sure at what position.  Would have been nice to have him as another pitcher...
 20.
Saturday 530 game (late start) H-F  7  Buna  5  Final Great battle
So it looks as if Buna has yet to get a "W" against a 21-3A team  :'(  Better enjoy your last season in 2A.  Hopefully playing this type of schedule will allow you guys to have a run for the title again in the 2A ranks, good luck.
 21.

Congrats to the Longhorns for fighting back in district and now taking Cleveland. Good luck in your first play-off run since 2000!
I keep reading that HF boys basketball have not made the playoffs since 2000.  However, I recall that they made the playoffs in 2002, Jeff Kenner's last year as HF coach.  I remember they won two games then lost to Kountze.  Am I dreaming this?
You are correct!  Keener jumped ship after their area championship and went to Hitchcock where he continued to go to the playoffs and was quite successful.  So it's been 10 yrs instead of 12, but who's counting!  We're in, keep rolling Horns.  Good luck vs Navasota.
 22. Is Kingwood High and Kingwood Park the same place?  Ned is playing Magnolia Fri at 7:30 at KWP.  Just curious.
 23.
This would be a great movie script. Coach Neal and HF deserve a special hat tip.
I second the Special Hat Tip, and raise you 21-3A Coach of the Year!  8)  Taking a team that everyone doubted and turned them into Bi-District Champs!  Way to go Coach Neal.  Keep the Horns rolling!  I also agree with the suggestion to have a double header game at the site with HJ, would be nice to see 21-3A win together and keep rolling through our side of the bracket.
 24. Just checked the forecast and there isn't a chance of rain all week.  With a low of 40 and a high of 62 it should be a great day for 100 innings of baseball!  ;D. Looking forward to seeing some old faces and seeing this years Horns squad.  Spread the word to all alumni guys so we have big crowd on a beautiful Saturday!  Good luck to all teams as we finally start the season.  GO HORNS!
 25.

Perhaps they are a victim of UOS
oh no you di 'int.... :o  ;D. now look what UOS did at HF...oopss, threadjack alert, sorry, so to clean it up, was the 103 pt. differential due to athleticism or pure skill ( I assume the response will be both ), but at some point ......
Don't clean it up! Look what UOS HAS done for HF basketball.  3 yrs ago what did they win 6 games.  Last year 14, and this year are about to break the 20 win mark.  Those kids lift 3 days a week are in the middle of a coaching change and still manange to find "inspiration" to pull it out and get a W!  Say what you want but lifting has definately helped these kids, period.  It's all about a system that stays constant.  If the kids know what is expected of them and they don't know of any other way to do it, it will work.  Give it time and let the program mold the athletes to what you want them to be.  Having athletes does help though! ;D
