1. Looks like the Horns will slide in the Top 10 Dirty Dozen picks this week!  Good job Horns!  Go get a win on Friday and really rock the boat as the first half of district comes to a close  ;). Keep up the good work and use whatever "inspiration" again to finish up.  Good job Coach Neal!
 2. It's that time of year again!  Hamshire-Fannett Baseball 9th Annual 100 Inning Game will be held Saturday February 11th.  All baseball alumnus are invited to attend and participate.  This years game will be sponsored by the Athletic Booster Club, so please come out and show your support as the Longhorns prepare for another playoff run.  Go Horns!
Just got a final. H-J won 52-38
Wow.  it was almost like i was there....
?
Some of us have gotten spoiled by the 3 pages of game-time updates.  Its not your fault, but the final score only post leaves us feeling a little lacking. Of course, at this point, Lazeek is supposed to tell me, "Well then go to the game and update every body else, bozo!"
Sorry, i could have (should have) updated the score tonight, I dont plan on being there in the morning but I will be there tomorrow late I will do my best to keep it updated...
Yeah i dont think it was completely fair to give HJ the first game of the day both days..
According to the bracket posted on another link, HF was the team to have the first game of the day BOTH days.  8:00am wed and thurs.  HJ played at 9:30 wed and at 8 thurs.  It doesn't look like it bothered them much. They are still unbeaten.  Completely fair...they are the #1 team in the state...they just might run the table 8)
 4.

BLUE DOVE, WHY WOULD YOU BE GLAD TO SEE HIM COACHING.I JUST HOPE WE HAVE SOME ONE ELSE IN MIND AND THIS IS NOT LONG TERM.
Its only a short term solution for now. I could think of "others" who could have been appointed from the middle school.
Dove, what "others" are you referring to?  The ex-coach, which you ran out and doesn't even coach basketball anymore, the middle school coordinator, the 7th grade coach, or the 8th grade coach that was promotted. Dawg, any coach they bring in is bound to give your son more playing time than Coach Decello did.  Not sure why your son, who has the most varsity experience of anyone on the team, was getting almost the least amount of playing time of the nine on the team.  Maybe Coach Decello, being the "great basketball mind that he was" saw something that the last coach didn't in your son.  Why are you upset about this being permenant?
 5.
Hamshire rebounded from a tough loss to orangefield and captured the third place hardware by outrunning buna 88 to 55  the horns return home for a rematch against barbers hill
What happened to coach?  He leads them to a last second win against Kountze and then doesn't show up for the rest of the tourney.  It is hard to win without someone "yelling" on the sidelines.  Glad to see that the Horns bounced back and brought home some hardware.  Good luck at home vs BH.
 6. Prudomme wouldn't have helped that much.  He is a tremendous athlete, but I'm sure the quarterback with a FREAK'N NECKROLL couldn't throw the football more than 20 yds!
 7. It's one thing to air out your dirty laundry on SETX but for the BE to publish this article is rediculous!  Now every disgruntled parent will want their crap published in the public paper.  Some schools just have "slumps" in the talent pool from year to year while others seem to never run out.  There are several fans that feel this way about their current coaching staffs, but the truth is, some programs just don't have the "athletes" to compete!  Trust me, it is not the coaches fault. ps  The BE may need to get another editor in chief to monitor the garbage that is being printed.  I guess that is why it is refered to as the Beaumont Surprize  ;D
 8. Dove you should know who HF has returning but here they are anyway: Starters Broussard  Sr Malveaux  Sr Carmon  Sr Brown  Jr Riley  Jr Subs Smith  Jr Friedeu  Sr Brooks  Sr Appling  Jr Thewman  Soph and if it weren't for two transfers you probably would have seen a soph and a fresh in the starting lineup.  I hear they are decent players that could have helped the Longhorns to their STATE CHAMPIONSHIP  ;D
 9. HF WINS!!  100 to 58  Congrats guys on starting the year off with a BANG!!
 10. Not sure what workout the Dove's sons are doing now, but if they were still at HF the Head BB coach is the CC coach.  I guess it is a good thing Mama pulled them out to Ozen or we might have had a parent/coach conference already to discuss this wonderful CC/BB conditioning debate!  ;D
 11. Stats from the Orangeleader: H-F, Trevor Bell 5-115, Rhett Williamson 5-30, Cameron Malveaux 3-35, Sam Huff 2-15, Layne Miguez 1-10, Kevin Carmon 1-10 Dante Smith QB 17-33-1 With 33 pass attempts and 17 completions, it sounds like the Horns are spreading it out pretty well.  Not too sure about the Horns not using all their weapons.  16 incompletions equals about 52%, the question is how many of those INC were dropped passes?  I'm sure Miquez and Carmon were thrown to more than just once.  How many times did the receiving corp have balls hit their hands and not make receptions.  Maybe REALTALK can help me with this one  ::)
 12. If I were the AD of the 3A school, I wouldn't sign off on the transfers either.  Seeing how both sets of families still live in the district.  All of the athletes that decided to transfer were great athletes for their respective grade level.  Each would have made a tremendous contribution to which ever team that they would have played for this season.  As for the Dove Bros, if school ball is just a "fun league" to prepare for the "Elite Summer Schedule" that they play, why not let them stay at HF and BOTH be on Varsity and get HF back to the playoffs (which hasn't been done in 10 yrs)????  Instead, they will go to Ozen and BOTH be on UNDER level teams and face far less competition than what they would have seen on the Varsity squad at HF.  Obviously school ball is a little more important to someone, hence the transfer for "non athletic" purposes!!!  ;D
 13. I guess the Dove bro's were bored at H-F and decided to take their talents to "South Beach", I mean Ozen!  8)
 14. Word on the streets is the Dove boys are going to OZEN!  :o  If this is true will this affect the Longhorns bid to the title?
 15. Hamshire-Fannett goes back to the GOLD helmet.  Hopefully new helmet will convert to a few more W's!  ;D
 16. Kyle Markum also made the list as a first team catcher along with Henry from Silsbee.  Menard was a second team catcher on the list mentioned above.  Nederland catcher just didn't make the cut this year  ;)
 17.
I don't think it's that bad of an idea. The players for the most part get along and know each other. I've seen H-J and Deweyville. Both teams were in pretty good shape. Most of these guys still play other sports like baseball, softball, etc. Best of luck to all the guys. Also congrats to H-J for being invited to play at Cowboys Stadium next month.
Who is HJ playing at Cowboy Stadium next month?  How did the Alumni Company choose who would play another game at that kind of venue, why not "The Butch"?  :D

Two and a half men is what the HF team will be known as.
If the used car salesman's son makes up "the trio" then the Longhorns are in TROUBLE!  I don't care who the other two players with a pulse are. Who is the "Half Man"  ;D  "Little" Big Dove, Bigger "Little" Dove, or "The Salesman's" Son  :D
I'm old school. I always thought the best player who is contributing to the team should play. People contribute in different ways. Some are spark plugs and may have less talent, but bring energy to the team when needed. If he's a good coach, he will try and work it out whats best for the team.
Don't you think every coach tries to do what's best for the team.  You say you've never heard of Decello but yet you think that he is just what H-F needs.  I find that interesting.  You are right about if he is a good coach.  He will do what is best for the team even if it means the Dove family ain't happy.
Dove family may not be happy if they can't get those excuse notes from "very qualified trainer" anymore...Decello will do fine if he is allowed to coach and not have parent conferences about why little Johnny is not playing or who will make up the starting five along with "the trio"  :o

 21.
:D I had to write two notes this morning explaining that my senior high kid need a break from the weights for a week and the middle schooler should not be doing knee bends. The knee bend directions came from a very qualified personal trianer out of Houston. ;) I really don't mind the weight lifting but in moderation with very active student-athletes.
From what I understand, mom/dad notes are only good for one day, might need a DOCTOR to take a look at your sons; not a "very qualified trainer"  ::)    Basketball has been over for a little over a month and a half at HF.  There is no MODERATION after the sport is no longer in season and the athlete is not playing any other sport!  UOS as stevie refers to it, KILL 'EM, KILL 'EM ALL  :D
 22. What is the new coach going to do when "players" come to school and can't workout/condition for a week?  ::)  Hopefully the new guy has some sort of standard for guys that don't want to work out but want to play!  ;D
 23. Wildcatter stated "You are forgetting that a football ad is the guy who is going to be doing the hiring.  We had an opportunity to hire a really good basketball assistant last year, everything checked out on him etc.  Then, at the last moment, a good football assistant opened up and we instead had a new assistant bb coach who had never even played the game. I just think that a true bb coach is going to have trouble here due to the fact that the fb coach is not really interested in building a solid program, he wants to build "athletes" which means better football.  JMO" Who would this "good assistant" be???  The assistant that was hired was a head basketball coach and is the only one on the staff with ANY playoff experience.  Who should HF have hired? Does anyone know the list of applicants yet?  AAW has said a few clues as to who has applied but no concrete list.
