1. I can't wait to see the list of applicants for this job!  I would also like to see the "New Coach's" take on the AD's formula of success through lifting weights, especially on game days ;D  I am sure there will be more news coming from the "coaches", I mean parents from Longhorn country on the new hire...
2. Silsbee's JV winning the tourny is a bit of a stretch!  They squeeked by H-F's JV the first round of the Kountze tourny.  Silsbee's lower level teams are down this year.  Fish have two REALLY quick guards that keep the tempo high and like to run.  JV team just didn't look like the teams I've seen in the past.  Maybe it's because Brooks is working with the fish this year...
3. I have another rules question.  A player is at the free throw line.  Ref bounces the ball to the shooter and the coach of the team shooting freethrows tries to call time out.  Coach is not granted the time out.  Excuse for not getting the time out was that the shooter already had the ball.  Should the coach been given the time out since it was his team shooting free throws?
4. The young man that hit the homerun vs HF is not on the list ???  You'd think since there was such a "stink" about the ball that he would get some kind of recognition on this thread!  Maybe the dad should offer that $100 to get his kid some "love"  ;D
5.
HF won 6-4 Great game. Freshman Duplant pitched a complete game for HJ Chapman started, Levingston got the win for HF and Soph. Miguez got the winning RBI for HF
Freshman Duplant pitched a great game vs the Horns!  He will be a good asset to the Hawks IF he stays healthy.  Duplant threw 135 pitches in his complete game LOSS in a game that didn't mean anything so early in the year.  That is an aweful lot of pitches on such a young arm.  I'm sure HJ had other pitchers that could have come in and relieved the guy.  Good luck to the young man the rest of the season.
6. The Longhorns will have their annual 100 inning game Saturday the 20th starting at 8 a.m.  If anyone has not seen one of these events played out, you should definately mark your calendar and head out to Hamshire.  Baseball Alumni are invited to participate.  It's amusing to see some of these guys come back and pick up a ball and swing the stick!  ;D  Plate lunches and merchandise will be available for purchase.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate so that it will not have to be rescheduled again.
7. Can you play Thursday and Friday or Thursday and Sat. Just curious...
8. Whether Jarvis was sick or coaches' discretion or whatever...the Hawks were only up 15 at the half against HF!!! I know Coach Sutherland wasn't very happy at half time. The Hawks came up and definately put it out of reach...but it was a RESPECTABLE win.
9. Thanks AggiesAreWe for posting the box scores. As you can see with a 40 point lead coming out after half Silsbee really turned on the pressure and held the Horns to 2 points in the third. Then with a 68 point lead going into the 4th, the "MIGHTY TIGERS" CONTINUED TO PRESS AND PLAY MAN DEFENSE!!!
10. If this is true, what has happened to promoting within at HF? Every head baseball coach except Kevin Davis (96 season) since Gary Kay (early 90's) has come from within; Gary Kay, Mike Sims, Kevin Davis, Sam Pratt, Jeff Barker, and Chad Landry. Some great coaches on this list, and everyone stepped up to take the reigns and lead the program to sucess. I don't understand what has changed... ??? Some one please help me understand why one of the coaches on the staff is not being promoted.
11. I agree that sounds like a good idea, but that is not how HF works. We will overlook the guys who have been there and hire from outside like usual!! Typical HF ...developing guys from within the district... It would not make much sense to hire someone other than the two that are there. Keeney has been there 5 years and Lindstrom for 7 years. Landry (with more experience) passed Lindstrom to take the head job 5 years ago. They hired from within the district then...why wouldn't they now? Lindstrom is a hometown guy (grad '97) knows the community well.
12. If Green stays in Vidor, and Landry gets the BC job, who is next for HF? ???
