1. I don't see in the play by play where the "inadvertent whistle"  kept the Horns from completing a touchdown run in the open field.  Or where the Horns actually covered a fumble in the end zone, but had it called a Tiger touchdown.  It was a game changing screw up by the officials in my opinion!  The Horns came out and played a hard fought game.  It is very disheartening to work so hard and have the officials make such a difference.  Hang in there Horns!
2. I want to know what others think about letting kids come out after all the two-a-days are over.  I'm of the mind that if they didn't just move in, they are not allowed.  If they just moved in, they have to do lots of make up work.  Just wondering how your school handles this.
3.
As for the fans in the stands, I feel that you should be in the stands as support for the kids win or lose as well as whoever is coaching your kids.
I totally agree!  It makes me sick to be in the stands and there are not enough parents there to have one per kid!  If you don't think that what your kid is doing is important, he won't put much effort into it either.  Believe it or not, they care if you care!  It really shouldn't be about who the coach is. If HF is waiting for the perfect coach to be on the sideline before they come to a game, it may be a loooong wait!
4. HF has a tough row to hoe, but they can pull it out.  They do need the seniors to step up and be leaders which has always been an issue with this group. They have 5 seniors on the squad, 1B, SS, OF, P/C and P.  Sad to say, but I think many key errors have also come from some of them, so they need to up their intensity and play like the leaders they are supposed to be.  As was said, there is no I team, and HF still has a few that haven't learned that spelling lesson yet.  It is better.
5. Word I'm hearing on the street is that they have chosen the assistant from Midland and the assistant from PNG. WOW you have an applicant of Mahaffey's quality, in the district now, and you go with two untried assistants.  I guess they are just looking for a "yes" man.  :(
6. Supposed to take two to the board Thursday night.  Haven't heard who the two are.
7. I don't know a coach that really does his job that doesn't have "haters".  Little Johnny's daddy is always going to know better. It isn't a matter of Mahaffey "making" a good AD.  Check his background.  18 years as an AD/HFB plus assorted Head positions as needed on staff.  Always made the playoffs after a time, no matter what the sport.  As AD he wasn't just a "football" guy, but promoted all sports and handled things in a way that was good for the total program. Did it make everyone happy?  Probably not, because most are only interested in what their kid is in, not the total program.  HF will be lucky if he will take the job, IMO. As for the pitching, did the kid's arm fall off, or is he strong enough to handle the work?  Maybe Mahaffey did know what he was doing there too.  He was a pitcher in college.
8. I hope the "committee" that is making this decision is aware of the support Mahaffey seems to have...  That would have to be a positive checkmark in my book.
9. I hope they make the right decision this time and go with Mahaffey.  He is a proven AD/HC with a successful track record.  I have known him since his time at BC as an assistant.  He is a quality guy with the kids at heart.  He has been at HF 4 years now and for the good of the program those kids don't need another change.  I think those that check into him will find he places importance on the total program, not just football.  Just my opinion.
