awhile back, he was the head coach at Livingston, left for Tarkington then went back as the O-line coach at Livingston. He may have been somewhere in between the schools I mentioned, but I know these for a fact.  He is a great guy, and I expect to see more from Hardin...
Yes he was, did a good job as head coach, but then Rowe become available. Nothing against Coach Fortune, Coach Rowe was a home boy they tried to get before him but they didn't want to pay the money. So when they got another chance to get Coach Rowe they decided to put AD?HC together to get him. Coach Fortune showed his character by coming back and coaching the OL and did a great job. I believe he would have been our coach again some day after Rowe, that just how much respect everyone in Livingston had for him. He'll put together a great program in Hardin if they support him. He was able to get kids to play for him that would not play for the coaches before him. Good luck to Hardin and Coach Fortune, we will be following your team.

This program will be headed in the right direction. The success may not be there right away, but there are loads of talent coming up through the system. It starts at the pee-wee level, and there should be great influence from the AD once those kids are in Junior High, and with Fortune you will get that.

There is however one problem Hardin lacks any size. Or at least they did last season I know coach fortune is a run style sort of guy that could lead to some problems IMO
Not always a problem, trust me the man knows how to coach, you just might be surprised.

Without a doubt one of the most intelligent comments I have seen on here in a while. That is a very good point, and I do hope that Coach Fortune can build the Hardin program back up.

Fortune will help all the programs. He knows how mold young people into great student athletes and winners. I just hope they give enough time to do it

Not sure if he's moved into town yet. However, he is already being a presence at games. Our former AD never wen. t to any girl's athletic events. And it was wonderful seeing Coach Fortune supporting all athletics. He is getting to know the younger kids too. My daughter said he spoke to her about her activities during lunch, and she's only in 8th grade. I'm seeing a lot of excitement from the kids all throughout the program. From what I understand a lot of kids are getting back into atheletics, too. We know our program needs work and time. Can't wait to see our football boys play to their potential and contribute to our atheletics program. Let's put some banners in the gym, boys!

The worst thing any commnity can do is find a great AD/HC for their team and think it will all change over night. You have to watch for progress each year and then it will happen.

"Build the program back up"? Hardin has won 1 playoff game since football was invented. Has 1 district title a half a century ago. One of the worst records all time in the state. Now that is setting the bar about as low as it gets.

Hardin is definintly going in the right direction with this hire.  Fortune has never been afraid to step up to the challenge of taking over a "weaker" program.  I'm sure he is more motivated than ever to prove to people it aint the size of the dawg in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dawg.

I would just like to point out that it is very hard to win in Tarkington. They always play hard, but the have no players. And I do not mean numbers, they just simply cannot play football there. Idk if anybody could win in Tarkington it is one of the worst teams in the area.
