Zack Sonnier WR LC-M

Recommended Posts

Zack was a 2nd Team 2010 All-SETXsports.com selection at WR. He made the 1st Team Port Arthur News Super Team at WR and was a 1st Team Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold Team selection at WR.

Appears Lamar is looking at him. Does anyone know it a offer has been made? He is listed at 6-0, 180 with a 4.5 forty time. He could join Joseph Viator a former LC-M Bear on the Lamar football team.

He had 68 catches for 1006 yds and 7 TDs this season.

Great hands, great route runner. Not a high end speed guy. But who is in I-AA?

I heard Jerome Mathis and Randy Moss can run a little bit. (though Moss was at Marshall as both div1-aa and div1-a transition time) ... anyway has there been a pro timing day at LU yet or will that be later in the Spring?

Smith, Lamar is having spring ball starting in Feb. I don't know when their pro day is but I would assume it would be later in the spring.

I think J.J. Hays has the potential to play at the next level but I'm not sure who else has that kind of talent this year.

I heard several NFL teams have asked about J.J.
Excuse me, but what are they asking about a college freshman who didn't complete his first semester?  I'm a supporter of J.J.  I hope he can find a football home and let his talent shine.  I also hope that home is Lamar University (I'm an alum) but J.J. has to know NOW that it's not high school anymore.  Every action that he takes now
must be accounted for.  I wish you good fortune in college football, J.J.  And, hopefully, in the NFL too.

You're confusing J.J. Hayes with Jeremy Johnson.

Yes, if this was not about Jeremy Johnson from Silsbee, then I got it all wrong.  Thanks for the shout out.

JJ is a hoss. He can play at the next level.
Marcus Jackson as well.

Marcus 41 rec./728 yds/8 TD   played 11 games
JJ  52 rec./745 yds/6 TD  played 9 games

Both are good and may have a chance. I think both will be seniors in 2011.
I'm sorry, but you have to see what JJ does against major competition and not NAIA and DII competition.

I agree, but there are guys from small colleges in the pro's. Who knows?

Also true. I bet he'll end up playing in one of the sub-pro leagues, like the UFL, Arena League, etc

Your probably right. Several guys I played with at WB that were WR went on to play at larger colleges and they ended up playing arena football and one played in Canada.

I've been hammered on here lately, but the 2010 roster showed:1 jackson marcus
Marcus Jackson WR 73
6-1 195 5
JR-Tr Tyler, Texas/Lee HS/Navarro JC

All good info but what about Zach?
if i counted right, LU has about 8 or 9 wr that will be sophs next year(2 may be juniors) ((if they all come back)), plus..if these new rb's pan out, add hussey back in the slot..
I think for a wr to get a scholarship next yr, he'd have to be something really special....not saying Sonnier is or isnt
