Good question. They’re also getting Thomas Brooks to coach D Line, completing the AARP all-star cast of coaches on the defense side of the ball.

Foreman will call his own plays and thinks he knows everything about offense so he won’t be bringing Dyer out of retirement at least lol

You saying it’s the “geezer” staff?!  🤣🤣

Call me old school, but I like it. If he can use those for a year or two to build culture in Jasper to mimic culture at WOS, he could do real well. We know Jasper produces athletes, if the formula is right, and those athletes come out for football, it may be fun to see. Either way, somebody has to let me know when tickets go on sale for that Jasper/WOS matchup this year. I'm going to be making that drive.

Will be a good one for WOS. Game will not be competitive. WOS will be able to name their score.

WOS ticket sales begin Monday before the game. Season tickets are already up for renewal.

Curious:  When was the last time Thompson, older Foreman, and Brookes were position coaches?  Haven't yet decided if that really matters though.

The bigger question (and maybe asked in a different forum), will any or all three teach any classes?

Jasper ISD is in no shape to have employees that only coach football positions and 2nd sport.

Good point!  Gonna be interesting.

Are these guys being hired as full-time faculty?

I know UIL changes things, but I think the rule is if you are retired with 20 years of experience or more you can be an assistant coach and not a full-time employee. Would only need to pay a coaching stipend in those instances. Not sure if that is still allowed. Andy Evans father did it for several years at EC for football as did my old man for a baseball squad.

Good question.

I believe Jasper ISD is not in the black therefore not sure they have that luxury to have that many on staff without being full time employees.

I could be wrong.

I wish we could just be happy for Jasper and appreciate what's happening there without having to default to second guessing and picking apart the decisions made. Everyone in SETX should be excited to see this group all together supporting Toby and the Bulldogs.

It’s a public forum… people are gonna discuss things lol

Interesting statement. How so? How would Jasper improving differ from HJ or Shepherd or someone else improving as far as making everyone better?

Well this isn't rocket science. Nor chemical cooking neither. But its easy to understand when the level of competition has grown so will the teams they compete against. Some teams schedule tough pre-district to help prepare.

Do u think your team would be better if they played down or punched up?

I agree with all that, but that didn't answer the question. How is Jasper, specifically, making everyone else better as opposed to (for example) an HJ or Shepard if they improved? What's unique about Jasper? Or maybe you were speaking in general terms and that's not what you meant?

The theory cant work for any team. Channelview improving slightly wont help NS. But NS playing at a high level has definitely elevated SC and CEK.

What is unique about Jasper is the tradition of success. Crumedy went 4 rounds deep into December just 3 years ago. 2018 we met them at Lamar in the 3rd round.

We all know the expectations with the new staff in place. This will be a major improvement over the next few years.
