If these UIL numbers pan out like they're looking lcm may not have to deal with this crying much past this year. Unless that is they try to opt up again for "travel purposes" 😘 which then could suggest UIL creating a BC rule closing that gray area for those running from competition.

Throwing the kitchen sink at 1 last hoorah at a DC for awhile? Watch out Huffman BC hiring the secret service to scan the sidelines for notes. They want an easy win real bad.

Just wanted to stir the pot and and more ifs in here lol

You’re grasping at straws chief…

By “running from competition” are you referring to WOS and Silsbee and are you also implying the current district BC plays in isn’t of high quality?

Thats a big straw. Im not implying anything. There's 0 doubt current district is one of the weakest in the state. And the exact reason why BC/HJ and liberty opted up. This is old news. And kind of irrelevant to thread here. Sorry if I took it off track

Possibly so but from a fan perspective it’s nice to see local teams playing. These kids know each other and their parents work together which make the stakes higher.
There was a major competition gap 10 years ago when BC was 3A. WOS and Silsbee battled it out while BC settled for 3rd and drew Coldspring in their prime 3yrs straight lol.

I’d like it to go on record that the yahoos on this thread spewing nonsense and trying to change the subject make up what is a (very) loud minority of LCM folks.

I’ve known Hunter a long time and consider him a friend. Looks like he made a mistake in the heat of battle and will have to live with the consequences. Unfortunate situation all around.

The committee reviewed evidence and made a ruling. One coach, one game suspension, no game forfeiture. I would not expect UIL to do any different. While circumstances may be more suspicious, there may not be enough evidence to rule differently. The assistant will take his one game suspension and move on with his career, possibly with more respect from some for taking one for the team.

I think this is the take. There’s not enough evidence to force the forfeit, but more than enough to be very suspicious and draw some (unpunishable) conclusions. While I have no dog in this fight, it’s been kinda ridiculous seeing the posts from some LCM fans equating not being able to be punished with not having done anything wrong.

The easy road is cheating😂 If you were playing poker and found out the person winning at the table had cards in their sleeve, would you not want your money? Or would you consider that to be a gift? BC is completely justified in bringing this to light, so would anyone else in a similar situation.

So is it true or not true that the LCM coaching staff went to a Chauncey Billups coaching clinic this past summer?

Well BC fans are historically whiny, & everyone has calls, situations, etc that don’t go their way. It sucks for sure but I don’t get online and whine like a 13 year old girl 🤷‍♂️

As an alum of OF and a follower of BC (due to family) both fanbases can be pretty whiny😂 In every sport!

Obviously we have way more history with BC than LCM.  But I have found them equally annoying.   As I’m sure they have found us (and I even find us annoying at times).  My vote for least annoying goes to WOS and Vidor.  Regardless, we all have close friends from all communities and I always root for OC teams against non-OC teams.  I’m guess I’m kind of like the annoying SEC homers in that respect.

History is one thing and this game is a different thing..that’s not a very good record against BC btw lol

I was thinking you would think the way folks are talking it would have been total domination, like say WOS vs LCM…

Don’t know him but have heard this from multiple sources I know and trust.

Now stop trying to lend sanity and reason to this otherwise trainwreck of a thread.

P.S. to mods - can we lift Cardinal Backer’s suspension for this thread only?  I feel like he was made for this thread.

BC and HJ were running from competition. They were escaping having to play Silsbee, Jasper, WOS, and HF. The decision couldn’t have had anything to do with travel, since they moved from one local district to another local district.

And, the local 4ad1 district is absolutely not of high quality. The top 3 this year in the local 4ad2 district would be the top 3 this year in the 4ad1 district. The same would be true most years.

My two cents re: ArmbandGate.

There may not be evidence that stealing the armband (That’s what it was. The instant he intentionally did not return the armband to its rightful owner while knowing it wasn’t his to keep, it became a theft) helped LCM win the game, but it’s evidence that at least one LCM coach (1) stole from another team, (2) lied when he had an obligation to tell the truth, and (3) took steps to cover up his theft even while direct inquiries were being made to him about the armband’s location and what he did with it. That has to be punished. If an attorney did something like this in a trial he might be disbarred. And, the team should have had to forfeit the game. Letting LCM skate on this invites exactly the message people are making here today, that “it must not have been that big of a deal if it didn’t warrant a forfeit.” It’s very much a big deal, an astonishing example of bad faith and dishonesty from a public employee in charge of children. It was a blatant violation of sportsmanship, human decency, and the law.

Most of us will remember that in 2018 PNG had to forfeit a game they won against Crosby under less severe circumstances. A coach had an iPad in the press box - Against the rules. So, even though it was agreed by the district members that there had been no effect on the game’s outcome, PNG was forced to forfeit. There was no lying, or hiding evidence by PNG as there was by LCM - it was simply, “You broke a rule and we have to send a message.” LCM broke the rules, and the district should have sent a stronger message.

I’ll be rooting hard for BC in the playoffs, just like to give our neighbors & rivals a hard time. That’s what makes all this fun.

Silsbee and WOS have dominated most SETX schools over the last two decades regardless of classification.

BC is 11-5 over HF in the last 20 years.

I agree, however I suspect it would result in another ban quickly.

(Just for the sake of further discussion.)  I already made the PNG-Crosby comparison several pages ago. That was a definite rules violation. Reportedly, per the experts on this thread, there was no rules violation per se in this LCM-BC instance. So, this is only an ethics question.  Also if LCM "returned" the watch, in whatever manner they said they returned it, then was it actual stealing?  Or did they just borrow it.  I guess you could say they did steal it for ~15 minutes or so.

I agree with you, btw, but it was interesting yesterday at the weekly golf game I participate in, this was discussed among the group.  All six guys in our group immediately sided with LCM. No poker game marked cards comparisons; it was mostly sign-stealing comparisons. "BC should have kept up with their equipment, etc, and acted accordingly."

Edit, to rephrase the above:  Rather than say they sided with LCM, I should say that they had no sympathy at all for BC.

I’ve read a lot of smack from the LCM fans, but the end of the day the Cardinals are fighting up/out of their weight class and tied for first-and I think they’d be undefeated in the district if not for what happened in this game. What does that say about LCM if BC is accused of taking the “easy road” by opting up to play the Bears?

If anybody wants to take a trip down memory lane, how were things going for the Bears before they dropped down from 5A D1? They stunk.  Then they hired a “state championship caliber” coach… and he somehow lost his mojo… or BOJO, if you prefer.

I don’t blame them for cheating… I would do anything to avoid getting handled up by a much smaller school from across town, too.  Like when they duck their longtime cross town rival Mustangs. Whatever happens in the meeting today doesn’t matter. I believe that the Bears deserve a forfeit, but it won’t change anything.

We’ll see ‘em next year and pick up where we left off the second half.

Re: Theft - Yes, it’s theft as soon as he decides to keep someone else’s property that he knows he’s not received consent to keep. It’s closer to conversion since he wasn’t stealing when it was handed to him, but that’s another word for “theft.”

I’m not phased by it not being a violation of any rule written in a handbook. Does there need to be a “don’t-steal-the-other-team’s-property-and-lie-that-you-don’t-have-it-and-only-give-it-back-after-getting-video-evidence-that-you-took-it” rule? It not being a rule doesn’t mean it was positively approved by the rules committee. I think people would have assumed that “a coach shall commit no misdemeanors” would not need to be in the handbook. And, I’m sure there’s something in the rules about sportsmanship, honesty, good conduct, etc, so it this kind of conduct is a rule violation.

When was LCM 5ad1? Do you mean 5ad2?
