Either shut down a school(s) or we are taking over…… again.

Like Yogi said, something like, this feels like Déjà Vu all over again. 🤣

So for the second time in recent history, it looks like the TEA is going to come in and kick the BISD school board out.

Interesting in the article is where it mentions BISD hiring an outside company to operate several failing schools. Is it just me or does it seem odd that you elect and pay the school board to run the school district and part of that duty is to hire trained school officials to run the schools from the superintendent, principals, counselors, teachers, etc. BISD’s response , let’s hire a company to run our schools!

I am going to guess that many of those school officials are being paid handsomely…. to let a company run them?

I posted under KFDM thread on another forum, and my guess it was not popular...but, much smaller schools with less payroll and funding like Brookeland(87), Chester (88), East Chambers (84), Evadale(85), Hampshire Fannett (83), Hardin Jefferson (84)....Sabine Pass even got a 86......and Beaumont can't pull off a C........  and those are small schools, but Nederland, PNG and Vidor were in the 80's as well....

No one can convince me kids in Brookeland and Chester are smarter than kids from BISD.  So, if it's not the kids, it's the teachers, administration or parents,,,,,,IMO

I put parents at the top. For the teachers, it’s difficult, maybe next to impossible, to teach and not be able to discipline, and that reverts back to the parents……no help with the discipline. Then comes district mismanagement. Just my humble opinion.

You're correct - PARENTS are most of it. My Son tried to be a comedian in I believe 2nd grade. We had a teacher parent meeting and I asked the teacher where do I sign to allow paddling. My Son looked at me with eyes wide open.  They said they used a treadmill, not a paddle - I told them to call me when he gets on the treadmill and I'm come with the paddle for after......

I never got a call again.....he was an angel lol

You have to be involved as a parent.....

There is the biggest issue IMO

Well, you are involved. Most parents treat school as an 8 hour daycare. Not sure of your age, but I may have a generation on you. In my day, you signed nothing. Teachers would spank you, sit you in the corner afterwards, or if need be, send you to the principal. Just receiving a spanking involved a note to your parents. Guess what, you got another spanking. Parents and teachers weren’t arrested for child abuse back then. They were on the same team, and somewhere down the line, this teamwork disappeared…..and it shows.

I feel like teachers “most anyway “do what they can,I blame parents mostly and then administration

If they take over Beaumont, then they should take over Port Arthur since PA's score was worst than Beaumont's.

According to the article it’s not the score but a campus that has had an F for 5 consecutive years. It was more like 8-9 years but they got the covid exemption. So for almost a decade they have a school not meeting the minimum standard.

What's wild to me is that two of the three schools that the company ran scored an F last year.

What that tells me is….is it’s Culture. Several others have said it…..there are to many parents that either don’t know what real parenting is or they just do care and too lazy.

yes hiring the right people(teachers, admin, counselors, support staff) does play its part as well as lack of immediate consequences (corporal punishment) but really the problem starts at home….

im not taking blame away from Bisd but if parents actually parented then this issue would even be in the news.

no doubt that's a big part of it. but you're right about BISD deserving blame.
