Congrats. to Lumberton...

Recommended Posts

absolutely!  you guys have nothing to be ashamed of!  three rounds deep is fantastic, especially for your first trip to the playoffs.  best of luck to ya'll next year, and remember to hold your heads up... there were a lot of great teams (including la marque) that didn't even get the chance to suit up tonight.

Lumberton can lay claim to two great feats this year...

They are the only team to beat Dayton in 22-4A, and they knocked out the defending state champs.

Great season Lumberton!

To all the high school players and students...

You really don't realize how much you have impacted your community and school district.

There are HUNDREDS of little kids in elementary that have seen you compete and win in the playoffs.

They will never forget this.

They are now more proud to be Raiders than ever before.

I am 41 years old and I still remember the Indian football players from the 1970's when I was in elementary.

You have started something in Lumberton that you can be so proud of.

To all the returning players next year....

You need to do everything you can to build on this season.

Hit the weight room hard and keep on believing!

My gut tells me Dayton will not be in 22-4A next year and the much awaited rematch may not ever occur.

Hold your heads up high.

No matter how your season ended you are all champs to all of us!

NEVER EVER FORGET MY FIRST CLASSROOM RULE....

ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!!

Congrats again!

AWEsomely

As a former player and graduate of LHS, I couldn't be prouder of OUR TEAM(players, coaches, band, cheerleaders, raiderettes, etc). Thank you for something that we have all been waiting on for a long time. The community support was awesome and I hope that support will be passed on to our other sports teams, as we wait for next season.

MESSAGE TO THE FANS THAT LEFT EARLY: you did something our team has not done all year, you QUIT . Those kids deserved your support until the very end. You should be ashamed.

I agree Raider90. I couldnt believe some of the fans were leaving. We even ask a lady why they were leaving and she just shrugged her shoulders. I can understand if its freezing weather and you have small children but tonight that just wasnt the case. Thank you Raiders for a GREAT season. It has been a wonderful ride on the "L Train"

AMEN! That's exactly what I said! When the going got tough, the Fair Weather Fowl flew the coop.

OUR BOYS, OUR TEAM, gave us ALL they had. I'm so proud of each and every one of them! They saw it through. All the way to the end of the line.

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for choosing the L-TRAIN for your journey. We hope you'll join us again next year.

I really want to thank our boys for a great season.  Sure the L-train has made it’s last stop for the year but not bad for a bunch of kids that most people didn’t give a chance of even getting out of the station. I said it before but I’m saying it again I have been here at the high school for 15 years …I filmed our Raiders for 12 seasons with  “The Rock†and these boys are the best that I’ve seen…..on the field and off  a true class act.

You guys represented our school, our town and our district well.

Make some noise for our Boys"

I have never been prouder!  The boys were understandably sad by the loss Friday night but they were such gentlemen.  They make our whole community look good!  Also, the fans that came to the game and escorted our boys back to the stadium reminded them (and me) that our community is NOT going to quit supporting them just because of a loss.  There is no shame in Friday's loss; this team has shown us how to act!

I've had the chance to see all the Lumberton games this year since my son is a senior and plays on the team. After every game I have beamed with pride as the team that no one expected much out of, continued to prove them wrong week after week. Last night as a parent...I couldn't have been prouder. Our boys took on a team that was bigger, faster, stronger and just as well coached as they were and fought right up until the bitter end, just the way champions are supposed to do! They did it with style, they did it with heart and they did it with ''CLASS''! After the game, though heartbroken and teary eyed , they kept their heads up and lined up and marched across the field to congratulate the victors demonstrating a level of class that's beyond commendable. Waller fans, players and coaches matched our class act ounce for ounce. Though they had to be ecstatic, they maintained the level of professionalism that they displayed throughout the entire game.  If we were to fall, we fell to a fine football team backed by first class fans...my hats off to Waller and best of luck to you guys against future teams. For the few hundred 'fans' that left early, you cheated yourselves. You left thinking you had seen the fall of the Mighty L-Train. For the thousands of ''FANS'' that stayed and cheered, screamed, sang, shook hands, hugged necks and wiped tears,we saw the truth...not the ''fall'' of the Mighty L-Train but the ''rise'' of a true champion spirit, that my friends, is what you get ...when you truly ''BELIEVE''! LUMBERTON RAIDERS....SALUTE!  God bless each of you!

Those fans that left early HAD to be Raider Fans That Jumped On Board The L-Train AT THE LAST MINUTE!!  NO TRUE BLUE RAIDER FAN WOULD HAVE LEFT NO MATTER WHAT THE SCORE WAS!!!

GREAT SEASON RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't start the "leaving early" drama.  I have  spent countless dollars on car paint, gasoline, concession stand food and tickets to watch those boys. We have taken off work early, rushed to get back from our family Thanksgiving holiday, spent 2 hours before kickoff just to hold a prime seat, gone to pep rallies, and parades.  We were happy to do all of that and loved every minute of it...but sometimes it's just over.  I hardly think any of those boys cared about who was there to see the final handshakes.  They will look back on their season and know that it was a history-making season to remember, and their fan support was second to none.  Thanks for a great season Raiders!

These boys like everyone else says as brought the whole entire community. The boys and coaches have workied so hard and so long just to get to this point, the coaches sat in the field house for countless hours watching film coming up with a game plan that would help the team win, and the football team spent almost everyday of the summer to compete, and earn a spot for the playoffs. Congrats on a fine season.

There is no doubt how hard they have worked.  It has been AMAZING!!!    By making a big deal out of it people going home, you are taking away from all the great aspects of the season.  Why not start a congratulations thread instead?  Let everybody post their favorite memories of the season.  That would be a lot better for the boys to read.

People leave early in every sport when they are a long way from home and the game is over.  It doesn't have anything to do with giving up on the players.  It's football.  This sounds like Lumberton Mama Drama.  These guys that are seniors are 18 year old men.  They were upset because they lost a football game they had worked their *&^$ off to prepare for, not because some family from Lumberton headed back to I-10 to get their kids in bed or get ready for work.

I have to agree with what raiderfamily said about being critical of everyone who left...for instance...I personally know people who HAD to leave early last night. One guy had been up since 3:30 Fri morn and had to get up again at 3:30 Sat morn to go to work...time became his enemy. He waited as long as he could but, not knowing what the traffic would be like when everyone left, he opted to leave right after our last touchdown. He did not want to leave but had no choice as he needed to get home and grab a couple hours sleep before work. His friend that rode with him, naturally, had to leave also. Now, this guy is one of the truest fans we have. Never had a son play, but has only missed very few if any games in years. He has been there thru thick and thin with the Raiders and will continue as long as he is able. Now, I can't speak for anyone else as to why they left, but just know that some people had legitimate reasons.
