Anahuac defeated Kirbyville.

Anahuac did not make the playoffs.

Kirbyville won this district championship.

When was the last time this happened in any district in southeast Texas.  I'm sure its happened but I can't think of a scenario where it has.

So what are you asking actually? Last time a DC lost to a non playoff team in district?

It’s not that strange. Playoffs are determined by win total. Unless Anahuac was one win away from playoff contention and Kirbyville one loss away from elimination, the outcome of one game wouldn’t affect the status quo. For example, PNG is playing Galena Park tonight. Galena Park is out of the playoffs whether they beat PNG or not, and PNG is in the playoffs, win or lose tonight. PnG also has at least a share of the district championship, win or lose. So, if Galena Park wins tonight, PNG still goes to the playoffs and Galena Park doesn’t.

Coldspring beat Diboll last year and did not make the playoffs.

I think I should have simply asked, when was the last time a 'non-playoff team" defeated a district champion, in southeast texas?

Welp, there's the answer.

I just didn't think it was a common occurrence, but this proves my theory wrong. Ha!

It really isn't a common occurrence. It happens but not often.

Just look at all the districts that we cover here. Only one had that happen this year and only one had it happen last year.

I say it's pretty rare for a district champion to lose to a team in their district that failed to make playoffs.
