How is it that in 5a d1 there’s about a 300 difference between top and bottom and yet in 5a d2 there’s about a 700 difference. How does that make sense???

I guess in some wierd average of overall kids and/or average difference in kids from different schools factored in with average amount of schools.  I don't have the number, but this is all I can come up with.  In other words, I would love to see the formula.  I'm sure there's one somewhere.

Well according to a DFW board several people expect the number to drop due to UIL is wanting 275 schools in 6A this year.. if true it makes things very interesting

That's some crap. The top end of 6A has a competitive advantage based solely on numbers. Stop the madness and create 7A already.

Crazy UIL will do. DFW is blaming the Valley/Sa because of it because of traveling and what region some of the Austin schools will fall in. The growth in East Austin Hutto, Elgin, Manor and such is going to stretch the region. Katy will have a whole district just to themselves.

I hear ya.

Katy gonna be just like Cypress. Speaking of which idk why they got one Cypress district in Region 2 and one in Region 3. Weird.

My best guess, they’re trying to keep the number of teams about even between 5AD2 & 5AD1, regardless of the 700 or 300.  Which imo, is 🐂💩.  And grudgingly, I’ll admit they have to juggle Districts, and in West Texas, that gets to be a problem.  But hey, we have a 5 Team 2AD2 Dist here.  Everyone goes to the playoffs but 1 team.  🤮

Extremely weird.. never understood that. Which Aldine ISD is loosing a crap ton of kids I’m only assuming to the Cy Klein and Spring  district.. But if they move the Austin schools to region 4 atleast it will toughen it up. I have a feeling one half of Austin Region 4 and other region 3...

I think the formula is they make it up as they go along.  🙄

Everything you read on the internet isn't true...UIL realignment policy states 250 schools in 6A PLUS opt ups...

1) opt ups artificially inflate the D1/D2 cut line....last alignment it was about 100 students higher than it should be

2) theres fewer schools In that 1800-1200 range

The number is adjusted to keep the number of schools in each div about the same. Otherwise if you had a hard cut off number, you could wind up with say (all hypothetical) 500 schools in D1 and 200 in D2. If you were to check, you would see that there are about the same number of schools in each division every year.

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
