Silsbee 2 Little Cypress-Mauriceville 0/Final

Recommended Posts

Great ball game and a good win for the Tigers. A well pitched game that was one by a text book inning. Lead off single, sacrifice bunt moves th runner. Single scores the run with the runner advancing to second on throw to the plate. Runner goes to third on past ball and scores on a sac fly. A win that may have all but secured a playoff spot, one more win and it should be a guarantee.

Inning was almost a disaster. Lead off walk, sacrifice bunt popped up in perfect spot. If 1B had one more step it would have been double play.

But that's the baseball gods at work. They taketh away (HJ baseball in jersey) and then giveth back.

Silsbee took advantage of lights out pitching performance by Sundgren and struck when opportunity presented itself.

Dunn with second lead off walk, sacrifice bunt by Partain, another clutch hit single by Senior Guy Tollison scores Dunn. Sundgren helps out own cause with sacrifice fly that sends Tollison home after a passed ball.

Dunn closes out game with solid 7th.
Ball game.

Excellent job Tigers.
Great game by the Bears.

Hate to lose one like this, but feels great to win.

It was a pleasure.

from what i understand Dunn is a freshman? Nelson is a freaking wizard.

Dunn is a gamer. Lots of potential and is benefitting from early playing time with varsity.

Partain benefitted from starting last year at 3rd, showing dividends this year. No telling how year would have went if back wasn't an issue.

Silsbee should have solid core of starting pitchers for next 2 years in Sundgren, Partain, Dunn and Whitted.

Wizard will have to work some magic in key spot next year. Stay tuned.

I put lead off single, it was a walk. And yes the bunt was just almost a pop out. Still textbook baseball. Get that man on and move him, get the hit score him. Take advantage of a past ball. And a very good at bat with the sac fly. Good coaching and execution. And good pitching by the freshman to end it.

If I understand your "key" position, the Jasper game was no indication of what you have there.  And yes some very solid incoming fresh that will make for some interesting "but good" decisions for Nelson & Co.  Plus you may have a very quality Soph (next year) moving back to the district. :D

Didn't move..... just been going to a different school district.  Very good athlete and can play multiple spots.  Not sure it will happen, so don't want to say too much, but got my fingers crossed.

;) Making sure we are on same page.  Knew about the possible move in and "the prospective freshman" but was curious about the one key spot.

Good looking out.
